speaking of spears and fashion, does anyone have a picture/have posted a picture of themselves with the dreadwyrm spear? that's the one i'm unsure of, in the one tiny picture i've seen of it. *begging puppy eyes*
Spear of Longinus is not a NGE reference, but more of a biblic one, where longinus is the dude who pierced Jeezus flank to make sure he is dead, than took his blood to put it in a cup, later known as the Holy Grail. Fun fact, we already had the god damn Holy Lance with the redish tip of the lance. Looks like SE love making DRG and his lore around a religion. WELP!
Most of Final Fantasy's lore is based on various real world religions and mythologies with their own twists.
They kinda got themselves shoved in a corner when the first Dragoon, Kain was basically a retelling of Cain and Abel.
Question to my fellow drg's on turn 13:
When the Shadow of Meracydia spawn, do you guys use a chaos combo to thrust combo? Or just thrust combo? The reason I ask is because these adds need to bursted down quickly, and I'm not sure how long the chaos dot needs to be up before the combo overtakes a thrust combo.
2 ticks
thrusts - 150+200+360=710
chaos - 180+220+275=675. +2 ticks=725
if they're alive for longer than 2 ticks, CT starts being a lot better
If the mob will die within 5 GDCs/ or 12.5s, it's best to go ID TTT.
If it takes longer than 15s, or 6 GDCs/3 ticks, then go for a full IDC TTT.
Probabilistically speaking (i.e. if you don't know down to the second when a mob is going to die), it's almost never worth it to not to use an IDC combo on a fresh target because:
- There is more up-front damage; TTT doesn't pay off unless you actually get to Full Thrust.
- Putting Disembowel on a target is never ever bad for DPS, except if there is a better target to put Disembowel on.
- Chaos Thrust doesn't need to tick for very long to pay off vs. TTT and usually lets you disengage just as soon ("you're the OT's problem now, buh-bye!").
- You can finish the combo on another target, which is almost always good (there is the possibility of extreme Chaos Thrust clipping).
For similar reasons, it's preferable to begin an IDC combo on a mob that is about to die.
I have been wondering is it really right to use Life Surge on CT every other Life Surge? It pops from cooldown just as I am about to CT? It just feels weird and as I can't parse myself I have no way to know the truth.
You need a lower skill speed to benefit from it. If you're above 400 I'd not brother at all. 390 is slightly edging it.
The difference between the two (using it every CT vs. Waiting for FTs) is only 0.5 PPS, a very small difference. Over the course of a fight, its around a 4-6 DPS. Its very little, but hey, Its still a DPS increase.
Actually, that's the same potency difference between HP IDC TTT vs H IDC P TTT.
Does any one have any advice, when is best time to use Blood For Blood in last phase of T13? I have 1-3 phases mastered with my timings, but the last phase felt tricky.
- After Teraflare (wombo combo + potion!)
- After Earthshaker targets, if you're not it (lasts through Tempest Wing)
- After Gigaflare (through Akh Morn)
All of these are good times for LB3, too, but that's shorter and less likely to get you creamed anyway.
did someone make a bis accounted for penta melded crafted?
I was thinking of seeing if any of those are bis in order to fit the void of getting no loot.
If I can find the max pentamelds of the crafted Wootz stuff, I'd definitely run it by my solver, but unfortunately I cannot verify any of the melds I've found (no pics or lodestone data). I really doubt the Wootz Chest, Legs or Boots would be BiS though. The Belt and Head might have a chance.
If that helps: I am using the Wootz Mask and can confirm that the maximum for accuracy is 25, critical hit 25 and determination 18. I cant confirm the assumed 25 as the maximum of skill speed.
I really doubt that any piece part from helm and belt got a chance of being in any bis set too.
max melded head 24 str 25 acc 25 crit 18 det 9 SS 28 vit and max belt is 18 str 19 acc 19 crit 13 det 9 SS 21 vit, both of which is what i use currently minus the skill speed cause i didnt wanna meld 4s outside guaranteed slots
Here is one possible bis set with 435 acc including wootz mask and kirimu belt compared to the bis set with 410 det. You would lose 200 hp but gain some dps.
http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/OX2V
Det bis set:
665 str
501 crit * 0.233 = 116.7
410 det * 0.327 = 134.1
341 ss * 0.198 = 67.5
weight = 983,3
melded bis set:
653 str
546 crit * 0.233 = 127.2
409 det * 0.327 = 133.7
368 ss * 0.198 = 72.9
weight = 986.8
410 DET BiS DPS:
575.06428
Martyns Crafted BiS DPS:
575.21084
What about gloves? Anyone got info on those?

4 Pieces of Penta-Meld. All require IVs.
well, good luck then. thats just way too expensive for me. not to mention the frustration while saying bye bye to the millions of gil every few seconds ;(
I will just stick to the helmet and hope for the best about loot.
btw, is the hp loss alright for t13 if you use 4 craftet pieces ?
Thanks for the math Dervy
Soooo correct if I'm wrong, but we are talking about spend 50mil for a 1.xxx dps gain?
Btw, wich is the 410 DET BiS used in the comparation?
And thanks again for the maths Dervy :D
haha oh god those boots
$$$
Yeah ricky you're absolutely nuts lmao. I'll be going for the Belt as it's the cheapest, plus it gives nearly a +3 weighting over the 410 DET BiS. Best Cost/Weight Ratio out of the 4 pieces.
Here's the link for it btw Dunncan:

Thanks Dervy! I see it's the same as I have came out with. I don't know if it worths all the trouble, specially when I'm beeing lucky with FCoB drops (Gloves, Belt, Necklace and Ring so far).
I was worry that using crafted itens could mean a huge dif on DPS. In fact I guess it does if one is unlucky and get no coil drops at all, but in the long run, I guess I'm fine whitout it.
I've got the Belt Penta-Melded (and also on Moogle, Hi!) and it is very good. Kicks the HA belt's ass, and is quite possibly better than the Dreadwyrm one as well. But I would have to check the stats again. It's the only crafted piece I am interested in though. I don't have the cash for any others.
The proposed Penta-melded Kirimu Belt has a higher weight of 3.318 than the Dreadwyrm one. Penta-Melded Belts are always better than the "max ilvl" counterparts and have been this way since 2.0.
Ive made the belt too but was very unlucky. Ive tried to put in DET IV into the second slot and the 10th attempt finally succeeded. Guess I dont have to tell you how much gil Ive spent for that slot alone. Actually it was the plan to put in SS IV twice then, but after the first one took like 18 attempts again Ive had enough and decided to use SS III and ACC III for slot 4 & 5. Then I broke my personal record of bad luck and wasted 65 (!) Acc III materias. Luckily Level III materia is cheap but 65?! never been so unlucky before. I bet I will get the dreadwyrm belt today just to rub it in some more.
Ive been thinking bout replacing the materia of my helmet to get rid of 6 acc and swap it for 9 ss but after that belt I better wont touch any materia till a new crafted belt is available.
Sorry to bother you, just had to share this mess.
8 Weeks clearing T10, 7 weeks clearing T11 all that's dropped for me is the Belt lol, T12 is going down this week.
This loot system is pretty awful. We've gotten 4 healer boots and 4 monk pieces (no monk).
