The 'shell' on the right is it's head. The neck starts off behind the tree, and the actual shell is what we see on the left.

But damn he is so big then.. he is just like those in FFXIII >.>;

Anybody think they just threw a giant turtle in there because its a benchmark? No one is going "OMG there's a Cactuar in the Shroud!"

I was really hoping back in 1.0 that we'd see huge roaming mobs like those in XIII. Let's hope there are plenty of these types coming in.

I dont think, they really wanted to put it out there and show us what's to come and trying to hide it. This mob is like 1000x bigger then any mob put in any FF games, just by the look of it on the screen it's almost bigger then area itself. I think they trying to tell us, are you ready to have a FULL FREE COMPANY EVENT with all your 100 members???

I think they're trying to tell us "we're putting a whole bunch of stuff on your screen to see how well the game runs" Cactuars and Delivery Moogles aren't just running around in the shroud. Either are giant, thousand foot tall turtles.
