Would it make you feel better if I said "I don't like how it looks AT THE MOMENT" lol... srsly, insulted?!
And THIS ^ - thank you! I totally agree.
(And yes yes, I know it's work in progress but I can still stay I don't like it).

Sure you can say you don't like it, but why?
That color will never touch the game. He's just plotting out the sections so it can be easier to work with without it causing eye strain.
That's like complaining that someone painted a flat undercoat to an oil piece. It's just part of the process.
Mamba is talking about the facial structure (model) not the colors.
The model is a WIP and Mamba also admits it can change - I think because they mentioned colors once it appeared that's the issue they were posing.
Similar for kitten - I mistook it as well, they mean "whatever color it doesn't matter, the model doesn't look right" (the face again).
Model itself won't be changed ...do you really bitch and moan every new FF is released and all Primals look different AGAIN?
Why some people don't get it there is no such thing as "not Shiva enough" or music isn't "FF enough" ..that is the most stupid statement i have ever seen go read the fan-made magazine thread about FF's history to find out how many different art directors FF games have had , each of them with a different way of thinking.....seriously some people
I am sorry if my own opinnion to you seem like bitching.
I can also say I dont like Mona Lisa and that also is my own opinnion, should all Da Vinci experts now tell me that I should stop bitching???? (Or is that perhaps my freedom of feeling certain way about it?)
You and some other people here, need some serious attitude check. If we can't bring up our own opinnions on forums, then where can we?
I have played FF games since I was a little girl and I know things looks different in different games. I for example didn't like how Serah in 13 looked like a child to me and made me feel that Snow was a bit of a pedofile... Now again, that was my opinnion but I still liked the game and played both 13 and 13-2.
You, on the other hand stop bitching about people who state their own opinnion, we are allowed to have them, whether you think they are "smart enough" or not.
EDIT: And btw, there is such thing as "FF-enough", I believe there is a whole franchice created around the FFish style of things. I have a friend who had her wedding dress designed with "Final Fantasy" style in mind. But this can be very vague and down to opinnion (and there is that horror word again, OPINNION)
Well, I want add on top of what you said that this is why FF has so many fans and not all of them agree which FF is the best! The variety for good or bad is what keeps FF interesting besides another Roman Numeral! It's just enough the same to be familiar to fans but enough different to be worth purchasing again for a new story, art and yes gameplay!
You can't fault SE for not being innovative! Even if it is to their own detriment! lol But that is all part of the risk of being innovative. You either hit it big or go home with nothing!
This Shiva actually look like an Ice Queen. Although I like the Shiva in past FF games that is not XIII (wtf were you thinking S-E?) I think I like this Shiva the best, in fact I think I prefer the design for all Primals in ARR over the other FF games.
Edit: I have learned that you need to spell it out when it's just your opinion on this forum. ;) This is just my opinion and no one have to agree with it.
For those who think her face looks strange or w/e, remember that texturing will have a drastic impact on the final look.
We all know from experience that a variety of looks that can be achieved with different coloring techniques on the same face.

Also, please realize that the zbrush sculpt we saw and the in-game model are completely separate models.
The zbrush sculpt will be only be used for generating Normal/AO/etc. maps for the in-game model. (although it could also be used as a foundation for making 3d figures, or re-purposed for CG sequences).
The in-game Shiva is seperate low(er)-poly model, and it is being colored and textured entirely separately with shaders built for the new engine.
As far as the proportions go, I commented on this earlier. Don't forget that she will be giant in this game. Once you see her at full scale and from a lower angle, the proportions should even out nicely due to the perspective.
See Michelangelo's David for a RL example of this effect.
TL : DR? Focus on the concept art. It's almost exactly what she will look like when finished.
This Shiva is hot she not a skinny slut this time around those legs are yummy.
She is dominatrix this time around lol.
Although I never thought slut from Shiva's other models she was too tribal and mystic for that thought - more of a "I dont need this extra clothes crap".
Obviously they are mixing it up here, she does have some sexy thighs, cant say I'm a huge fan for the armor BUT I'm not against it either - the face does bother me but that's just feedback**. And just like Garuda if they do it in context I guess it can work, since so far all the primals have been pretty dick like - Shiva being a haughty biaotch could fit lol.
** (Zan said concept art is likely finish look - I like the concept art face so.. sounds good :D)
Yeah, the FFTA version is very stylish and militaristic

For some reason, I like the FFIX version now, though I didn't back at the release. Her design is a nod to her Hindu roots.

For a long time, the FFVIII version was my favorite though. Ice spirit, with a bit of 'mermaid', I guess.

As far as the rest...
FFX - A solid design - the 'new classic' look for most people I suppose.
FFXIII - I hated the motorcycle transformer thing
FFXII - even as an imperial airship, she seemed less offensive than her FFXIII version.
FF4/5/6/T - the standard, old-school look
FF type-0 - Interesting, and different - I need to play the game to really form an opinion.
Based on concept art alone? The FFXIV version is the clear winner in my book. The ice queen definitely looks her part now.
That's an interesting take. I hadn't seen that since I don't do the whole handheld thing. However I still love FFX Shiva. Even so thanks for linking it :)
I don't want people to get me wrong, I'm not saying "OMG SHE SUCKS AND SHE SHOULD BE CHANGED!" I was only commenting completely out of context what I thought of her so please keep that in mind. As I do know once textures/animations/plopped in the environment/ music etc.. will really help set the mood and attitude of her. I'm simply commenting on the concept and current design.
Oh god now that this has kind of derailed into how summons look-
If you guys want to know what a really weird summon is like look up the summons from Final Fantasy Unlimited, the other, earlier, FF animation.
Also keep in mind summons alao are relates to the lore, these aren't creatures willing to simply help out for a few mp. These are fierce otherworldly beings. There's the need to make the creature look like a boss since it is going to have that role. While this is a no brainer for creatures like Ifrit, summons like Shiva, Moogle King, and others still require that touch.
Thing is, what tribe has Shiva in the first place?? Certainly not the sahagin...
I just want to put out there that I was playing FFIX with a friend who has never played a FF game before (though he does like the RPG genre quite a bit). When I was showing him some of the summons, when we got to Shiva he said "Oh Shiva, I assume she is the fire elemental summon?"
So lets keep in mind that while there is something to be said for "Classic FF Shiva", "Classic FF Shiva" is, in fact, kind of really messed up. (Not to mention Shiva is male).

Fire elemental? Seriously?
I mean..
Seriously? lol
I'd understand someone saying something weird like "moon element" before saying fire.. .. Like you just blew my mind lol
(Shiva is male in Hindu source, but obviously FF Shiva isnt male)
We hadn't actually watched the summon yet, just seen the name. Shiva is often linked closely with the element of fire (though not always directly).
Thirded...lol it was creepy to watch. '
I forgot how pretty the FF9 Shiva was...I love her crown.
Also anyone play Revenant Wings? I liked the Shiva from that:

I like the crown....she reminds me of the chick from Candyland lol
It'll be big, hulking, ugly as sin Gigas'!
