SE is always SE... Rage inside... :/

How was my brother in law able to get in alpha......... orz he never played XIV and only reason he applied for alpha was because my wife told him about it and I showed him the awesome videos/images of ARR... at least give alpha's to those that have played the game so they can get good feedbacks that knows how 1.0 was... orz

Actually, if "playing" was my true intent, I'd be crying about it like you and a bunch of other people on the forums are doing. But seeing as how I'm more anxious to play the actual game when it's finished than I am to test (or play) a bugged version of alpha, I have nothing to QQ about. It seems you are the one really anxious to play, which is exactly why I used that word. To tell you that you will get to play the game soon enough.

What's sad is that i did the registration for Alpha while i had a shizzy pc, Core 2 Duo 2.2ghz + Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS (128 dedicated and 768 shared with RAM + 3GB RAM.... last friday i bough a PC thinking i was going to enter Alpha to test if my PC can run it smoothy and wasnt picked for it :\
Just hope i get in soon so i can test my new machine :/

Right.. so show me a post where I'm crying about playing... I'm currently playing XI and GW2, I don't have time to play another MMO rite now ('test' is another story however..especially an Alpha). So no, I never once was 'crying' about anything.. in fact if you actually read my posts you'd see I said that some of these people need to calm it down abit.

I don't believe we'd be dumb enough to think they're picking people all willy nilly, who's selection would end up being detrimental to them. But I do believe we may just be selfish enough to care more about what benefits us over them, all while claiming the people who were selected are inferior to us, based solely on that fact that they aren't us.

Wow this sure turned into a big hate fest on each other perhaps most should just drop the topic we are all very anxous to either test the game or get back to playing hell i sure do. i want to test the game not only to help it along but to see whats up but the sooner the better and another fact is the issue of loyalty to be honest it seems long time players loosing to 1 time players is for an alpha test is kinda a kick in the nutts but its SE they do what they want to what they see is best for their game that they are making for us to play :)

I think he/she is OK. They just said they got an invitation, but didn't mention whether or not they accepted it and/or are testing Alpha. I haven't seen anywhere saying that you can't say you got an invitation to Alpha. Nix found in the NDA where it says you can't disclose that you are a tester, should you in fact decide to accept the invitation (which then takes you over to the tester forums and to agree to the NDA).

Lol, no matter how many times you try, I'm not gonna violate the NDA for you of all people..You may not realize it (or prolly do and just acting crazy..) but to do that could cost me both my account and a friends. Not gonna happen, which is why your the only one asking for evidence that violates NDA on their own official forums.. Use that head of yours (assuming you have one..?) Why don't you ask one of your actual friends who got an invite? Don't know anyone? Awww, tough (but makes alot of sense!!)..

Ive been reading threads and posts from all over the place and the common theme is that the posters didn't get in while their in-active (but with registered copy) friends did get in. Its not just from this thread.

If Reinhearts in-active uncle gets in over Reinheart himself then thats all that needs to be said.

The selection was not random in my opinion.

Im not too bothered, from what i have seen in the official videos, the active 1.0 players will have a lot of things that they loved missing and new features that are a clear move towards popular MMOs with character animations from the last decade.

I know its Alpha, an Alpha that is a frozen branch from over 2 months ago, but the decision to ignore the most active 1.0 players is strange, especially since it is only a stress test situation where people who quit are going to see an unfinished product which is the same feeling they last had with 1.0.

One last point, those legacy + active forums goers that got invited would now have moved over to the Alpha forums. So not going to hear from them.

I predicted that SE would do this. Even the dedicated 1.0 alpha testers have been pushed to the side as less active accounts/Last minute activated accounts get in. Bought GW2 just to fill the gap between 1.0 and ARR. Just find something else to play while we wait for more invites. Although it wont be easy hearing my friends over the Mic "whooow ARR alpha is so fun, etc." I'm gona have to mute some people lol.

Haha I know what you mean. I logged for abit on 1.0 and it is a ghost town but I still enjoy it and will explore a little more. Gotta say in this down time I can finally finish tackling my games backlog

Sorry for not reading through the hundreds of replies to see if this is answered, but the priority queue is in regards to beta, not alpha. I believe it is beta that the active players will get invited to first, not the alpha. I suspect you won't be missing out on much by not being in the alpha anyway.

Yeah it sucks for us...but then again, we get a discount for the rest of the foreseeable future, our names in the credits, a special mark, a personal chocobo, and whatever else I'm forgetting. So for me that makes up for not being first choice, I don't mind waiting for a more stable and open version to test.

Besides, it's pretty clear on the signup that they picked based and answers and the first ones to match their criteria.

Agreed. As I posted earlier there apparently are quite a few Legacy people that got in, but the specifics of how much they played and when would be anybodies guess. They of course have one of those 'tell me about yourself' type threads over there, and some people are tryna get an idea of how the invitations went from player responses in the thread, but even that would have to be based primarily on the honor system.

I understand, I think, SE's decision to target the not-so-actives though, although I do agree with you in that I don't think it was the best decision. For alot of the actives and forum-goers, SE has already heard our opinions and suggestions, some even regarding the ARR client (from videos we've seen). We're here quite often (or I guess often enough in SE's eyes) to have given them enough feedback for the time being, so I can get them wanting to hear from a different crowd. And perhaps they wanted to hear it before the perhaps more 'vocal' actives start testing. Personally I feel they still would have heard from the not-so-actives regardless of how they went about doing this, but they chose this path. It rubs alot of their more *currently* active playerbase the wrong way, but they know we'll get over it... heck, we got over 1.0's launch!

I don't think it was in any regards to beta. On the actual Alpha Test Application site: http://entry.ffxiv.com/alpha/index_na.html

Here is what it says right before it displays the minimum system requirements.

This was the information that has been given to us during the time we have applied, so honestly, people do have a right to feel uneasy about what is going on. At least during the live letter, they could have given people a heads up about the change of direction they were going to take. At least that way, people will know for sure it wasn't a mistake and that YoshiP could have explained it in a way that makes more sense than sitting here playing a guessing game.

Someone somewhere today explained it pretty well: in this case, an active XIV account doesn't refer to an account with a currently active character, but the account in general. That is, if you ever bought XIV, created an account and left it like that (without deleting it from your S-E Acc) the you do meet the requirement.

I wouldn't post about getting into the alpha unless you want to get banned from the alpha. They clearly state it's against the terms of participating.
