I suspect they are taking a heck of a lot of time to go over any fix with a metaphorical magnifying glass, looking for any possible flaw. And running tests repeatedly.
Because if I were in their shoes, I guarantee you that I would rather delay any fix to double and triple check every aspect of it than push the fix out and have something new break. From both a "corporate public relations" standpoint (were I corporate PR) and a "not getting a stress-related ulcer" standpoint (were I one of the responsible developers).
