Old recipes still exist.
Heya!
Foxclon and the rest of the crew stayed up really late in order to post more information for everyone regarding the recipe changes.
New recipe changes are in red.
Items that we plan to reuse in future updates.
There were two new posts as well added to the thread about new vendor NPCs and new items. Take some time and have a look!
Thanks Rukkiri, your hard work is appreciated, as is the hard work of Foxclon and everyone else. Unfortunately, the concern I have has to do with that list itself. Don't you notice that probably 50-70 per cent of alchemist ingredients are on that list, yet no new alchemist recipes are being added?
Can we please get an explanation of why alchemist recipes are being eliminated with no replacements? Are you removing potions and remedies as player made items entirely?
So electrum nugget is the only nugget synth being changed? Im confused.
Seems like this list is still really inconsistent. Hopefully the actual recipe change isnt as inconsistent.
I appreciate all your hard work forum-reps!
Looking at the new changes in the list, under GSM it still shows "Electrum Nugget" - is that supposed to read "Electrum Ingot" instead?
Maybe this has been brought up or I am missing it OR I am just plain stupid.....It appears that they are removing parts from reciepes.....YAY! My question is what do I do with all the abilities that concern part making? Are the going the way of the dodo OR will the be useful for something else?
In regards to Javelin Heads being listed in the Updated Recipes list but are also in the Items not Used in New Recipes list, these are changes to simplify the current recipes that are still going to remain in the game, but that those items won't be used in the new recipes.
The Javelin Heads will still be created by using specific Nuggets and Iron Javelin Heads just wont drop from monsters anymore.
The level to which the deployment of this information has been poorly executed is a testament to how bad of an Idea these changes really are.
could u just add a couple interesting alchemy recipes to hold us over until 1.20? anything? all we get in this patch is subtractions.
So, just wondering: Is there a mistake in the arrow listings? I notice iron arrows are made with bronze, steel arrows made with iron, and bronze arrows made with steel. The logs also correspond to the metals in terms of level requirements to use. Was this a mistake, and the arrows were meant to be in the order of bronze, iron, steel?
Updated Recipes ยป Alchemist
Error: Shark Oil is the product of 2 Silver Sharks or 2 Hammerhead Sharks.
alchemist renamed to crystalmaker
just to get it right, basically if we make willow to chips, and keep the chips,(Before the patch) and force the old recipe to get used, via sheepskin n chip, we should still make leather via old recipe, right?
not that i make now thousands of chips just for leather, and then the old recipe wont popup
not to mention that the basic calc of throwing weapons are now 12 times more expensive (strips before, leather now,for 1 less step)
YES!
This is exactly the people i am talking about that will be the ones that are happy with this update.
People that dont like crafting.
Chances are u still wont craft much after the patch either.

I'm sorry guys but: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*Ahem* Please.. just let it go, the changes are in! enjoy them as much as you can like the rest of us! wooooooo *Parties* Over the best changes to crafting ever!!! Thank you Dev Team for the hard work put into these changes.
Peeps need to understand that a thing such as a "bad update" actually exists! not every idea that a game developer ever comes up with is good...
It has been proven in the past.
Also everyone that is so high and mighty now and all easy going about all updates is like that untill the devs come up with an idea that they wont like.. they wont be all that easy going then :)
what is your problem man? i already have my crafts mostly leveled so the changes do not affect me much. i'm pointing out that the issues are more than just the recipes in crafting. the people that did not lke crafting before due to the standard bashing of synths and the boring mini game are still going to dislike it for the same reasons. i'll be busy just making items and making millions off people just like you anyways.
Ok this is how I see it: Players that dont have any craft leveled already tried the system. It sucked for us, so a lot of us didn't bother with it. SE noticed there is flaw in the system, so they attempt to fix it so more players try it out. No one has tried this update yet, so no one really knows how it will pan out. I rather try this out and see if I like it then see no changes at all and no craft at all.
I understand you are concerned for us and are thinking only for our well being and ejoyment, I thank you for that. But please, I didn't ask you to advocate on my behalf to SE. So stop and let me see for myself if I will like it or not. As opposed to you, I understand SE might do anything they feel like is right to this game and my role is only to see what they come up with and then provide feedback. They are the game developers not me, I'm just a tester and rest assured, if I dont like the changes I will provide feedback.
That is perfectly fine. i dont like gathering so i dont gather...
Soooo many people are crafting. it's not like crafting is something that 90% of the population didn't like.
Also the mindless timesinking crafting isnt the thing that is changing...
So that aspect of it will stay the same so..
Whatever tho.
It is not my job to come up with ideas or develop this game. That's SE job, what ever they can come up with, before rejecting it completely, I rather see what its like and then provide feedback. The crafting recipes could not stay the way there are now, that is a fact. They decided to go in one specific direction, by removing unnecessary steps and items from the process. Many members of the community came up with great ideas on how this could be done differently, but at the end of the day, they are the proffesional game developers, so they went with what they think is right. Will this work? who knows, What I see is the changes are already set. You can not deny the amount of balancing and rearranging that went through for this change, the least you could do is thank them for trying to make the game more enjoyable.
The crafting mini game argument can go both ways. even if it was extremely engaging and fun to do, I would still spent 75% of the crafting "process" NOT crafting, but hunting for parts to craft, and looking for other crafters to help me, and leveling other crafts I dont want to level to craft simple pieces of gear. The Crafting system is flawed on both ends, the recipes and the mini game, they have tried to fix one, I see an improvement, now they need to fix the other end.
but see that's the point. i was not trying to speak for you or anyone else, but you come on attacking me. i was not saying recipe changes were not needed and they may have been needed even to this extent. i am glad that those of you like them. i am not a fan to the drastic extent they went with them, but some modification was needed.
ALL i was saying is that the majority of issues that have been stated about crafting were not about this one issue. i heard more complaints about the boring mini game and the standard bashing while watching tv as more common issues. this was my concern. the people that didn't like crafting for those reasons are still not having those issues worked on. if the majority complains about those areas and they work on something for a smaller portion first that gives me concerns that the more common complaint isn't going to get addressed at all.
maybe that is a little more of an explanation of why i said the people that didn't like it before will likely still not like it after. i was not talking about all, but just the majority i have seen in game and in the forums complaining about crafting.
I mentioned this in another thread for another response you made. You seem to have a sense of persecution. I did not attack you in any of my posts. Yes, I had to laugh to your posts about what you think about the old-recpies and the new ones, but also also said I was sorry right after, like friends do when making fun of each other.
yeah, sorry when i say attacking it is just a figure of speech. i do not mean it as you are actually coming to my house abusing the wife and forcing me to watch lol.
when i say attacking me it's more along of the lines of that i have an opinion and just because you disagree with it you decide to come and make fun of the other person's point instead of actually discussing it with them. yes, making fun of someone's views is in a way attacking the person. if i make fun of your religious, political, social, family, or moral beliefs i am attacking you in that same figure of speech translation.
you will see me make that statement more than once just because it's a figurative and not a literal translation.
I understood what you meant by attacking. But realize you are still saying "this" was better "that" way. when in three days the changes are in and there is no going back until everything has been tested by the players. As I said in my original post, let it go. Test the new system and then provide feedback.
yes, i do know what you mean. i'm going to test it anyways since i am full time crafting and gathering until at least 1.20. i'm waiting on the battle system to get completed before i go back and finish my last few classes.
if you go by the history on these forums if you do not say something to voice your concerns before the changes though you will be constantly flamed if you say anything bad about it after. if you don't believe me look at the battle changes for example. let myself or anyone else say anything bad about it and see how quickly they get flamed.
I have a question regarding dyeing items with the new system. I understand there are all purpose dyes that can be used across all materials BUT does that actually mean I can use any available color for any item? Because as I read the new recipe list color options appear even more limited then they are now. So is the new list not all inclusive to show that any colorable item can be made any color available or is dyeing truely all purpose and across the board.

A 'realistic' system is not an effective system. Recipes for finished items across all crafts are entirely too convoluted. Sure grinding the crafting minigame is mind numbingly boring and that will not change. But gathering the items needed for equipment synthesis should not be a painstaking and frustrating process.
