I get that part. I'm wondering what caster accuracy is for A2. Only number I've seen is 587 and that was for casters. But this seems way too high if A3 is 531

I'm honestly surprised you opted for blm choco. Was sure you would've went smn.
What makes you so sure ? I've mained BLM in 2.X. I can play both classes perfectly fine and honestly.. I just got bored of playing the much easier job. I know it might not make sense but I am the kind of guy that enjoys perfecting/maximizing DPS on the hardest/one of the harder jobs in the game.
Also, like you said before, BLM just "feels" so much better.
Still not denying SMN can do better on A1S/A2S but it's so brain dead easy that it just doesn't feel rewarding to me :(
SMN is easier most of the time, true, since you get to move wherever you want for free most of the time, and you spend about 2/3 your casts using using filler of sorts, and most of those are interchangeable. That said, BLM is actually really, really easy too, let's not kid ourselves, it's just at the times you have to adjust your dummy rotation it's more make or break than a mistake from SMN due to Enochian timers.
Personally I think BLM is easier to stay focused on without forgetting something when something goes wrong or you're unfamiliar with mechanics. You can auto-pilot according to your rotation and watch your surroundings and follow your own internal clock. It's been that way ever since ARR - something goes hairy, I have to do some callouts or people get wrecked, your fingers will still flow as they should. SMN, when things hit the fan, and you lose focus and possibly let Shadow Flare stay off as you try to focus on the raid for 10s, and forget to Fester because you were saving it until 10s were left on it but someone dying made you respond critically on what to do, that for me is the difficulty of SMN.
tl;dr - I find keeping your cool on BLM way easier in general since it's so focused on the caster, and you can always follow that with training. I find SMN when you can keep your focus 100% easier to do in real fights with mechanics since if you follow your script it's still just a dummy, but with more R2s, but when there's any disorientation it's less fluid and harder to adapt to. I'm trying to put this in a way without making me seem like I constantly lose focus in raids, I don't, just something I've noticed over the last two years between the two classes, and IDK about any other raid leaders here but it does happen occasionally. Much easier to DPS when all you're focusing on is your damage.
That's one of my problems. I can't keep my cool that easy. If I loose my AF3 due to movement or enochian times out, I start to cuss at the screen and say not very nice things which stresses me out. That's the main reason I kind of decided that maybe the MCH or bard should be my main. The timers aren't as strict.
First time I felt the angst of mistiming a cast and losing Eno/Blizz4 right before it finished casting I was like

I've been tempted to give blm a shot. After leveling my smn to 60. I felt doing good dps was a little to easy. I ramped up to 1k pretty quickly without looking up any guides.
Blm seems more interesting but idk it just seems like if you don't play it 100% optimally your dps is just garbage. Buuuut it looks so much cooler :0 is it a job that if a mistake is made still pulls ok numbers?
Like if I mess up a rotation once will that drop me like 100 or so dps just from a single mistake or is there room for error? Tanking is my main for savage level stuff so this would be for extreme primal type fights not min max progression content but would still like to pull ok numbers and not be a drag
Ohiao, I am abit nervous to discuss this but I have a rotation that I recently worked out to try and squeeze in 7 fire IV and 8 before the first refresh if your spell speed and piety are high enough.
Stats : 262 piety and 678 spell speed.
286 piety and 708 spell speed with HQ hot chocolate.
The rotation is : Swiftcast + leylines -> fire I -> Enochian + raging strikes -> Fire IV -> sharp cast + fire I -> Fire IV X3 -> Firestarter + convert -> FIV X3 -> transpose/bliz III -> Bliz IV.
I have only attempted this rotation at least 4 times on a dummy and once on faust.
The conditions that were tested :
Trial 1 : Nothing(food or other buffs).
Trial 1 Outcome: I am only able to hit the 6th fire IV while lacking 800mana for the 7th.
Trial 2 : partied an AST (level 30) that provided ewer buff.
Trial 2 Outcome: i was able to get the 7th fire IV out but i couldn't refresh as i didn't think to transpose and lost enochian.
Trial 3 : Partied another AST (level 60) that provided enhanced ewer buff (potency) and i ate a HQ Hot Chocolate.
Trial 3 Outcome: I was about to get the 7th fire IV out and managed to refresh with a remaining ~3000 mana but 1 second left on the enochian before bliz IV refresh.
Trial 4 : with HQ hot chocolate.
Trial 4 Outcome: I was able to get till a 7th fire IV but wasn't able to refresh because i had to wait for a mana tick.
Faust attempt (normal A1) no piety buff but with hot chocolate, since i had to rebound my keys for the trials to be a faster press but reverted them back to their original location, i almost let out the 7th FIV but enochian fell.
Although when i checked the battle log for the number of FIV it seems off, like there were less FIVs, it could be due to me clicking the skills too fast that i missed out during the initial trials. Also i can't afford another HQ hot chocolate ;_; those things are expensive so i stopped trying. Not to mention i need to find a AST willing to help, both AST had to leave after 1 attempt due to other matters.
I am not sure if the piety buff + HQ hot chocolate is enough to pull off an 8th FIV nor do i know of the spell speed that can give me more room to push it either. I admit that i need to practice more one this rotation to perfect it but before i do i would like if anyone can parse this for me since i lack one.
I am not sure if using fire IV during AF1 and AF 2 phases can give a dps gain compared to Aakial's current rotation and not to mention it is alot more tight on time and spell speed. I also don't have a potion of int, I guess i am not rich enough to afford such luxuries ;_;. Thank you to anyone who reads this and helps.
PS: another added benefit of this rotation is that the first fire has a high chance to proc fire starter( proced at least 3 times out of my 4 trials also proced on faust), the problem i have is knowing when to use the starter without comprising the time or the sharp fire after the first Fire IV. If anyone is willing to help i would much appreciate it.
PSS: The original rotation i attempted to use is to swiftcast + leylines -> Fire III -> raging + eno -> Fire IV -> sharp fire -> Fire IV X 3 -> firestarter + convert -> Fire IV X 2 -> bliz III -> bliz IV. the thing about this rotation that lead me to try out this new one is the fact that i always started having 10 to 12 seconds free on my enochian once i was done with the 6th fire IV and had a good ~ 1000 mana once bliz III starts casting. So i decided to use a more progressive approach to reach more FIVs, thought how much of this rotation is actually better i don't actually know honestly.
That opener you suggested is 44 potency more -- or 124 potency less if you can't B3 -- at the B4 mark than the current standard opener (ignoring Eno and RS bonuses because lazy), but it's longer and requires a special setup, and you can't fit a pot in there. I don't think we have to worry about fitting more F4 in the opener before we can get a lot more SS on our gear. There is also no added benefit of the first F1 having high chance of proccing FS, as it's still the normal 40%. You just got lucky is all.
Not to mention you'll have to sacrifice main stat which is worth even more now. I don't see any gain for making the rotation longer since you'll rotate Enochian 3 times before using the CD again. You are actually better stacking Spell Speed to reduce that time to 1 minute with 3 rotation so extra Fire IVs will probably not work.
Well, it's worth to see but I'm not investing in it.
Just an aside: Don't be nervous about sharing your ideas, you know? Even if it turns out that others don't agree the rotation is optimal, it was probably fun to put the work into it as an experiment. Furthermore, experiments like this are what lead to the community as a whole finding new ways to play their class. Experimenting and sharing your findings with the community is always worthwhile.
Not my best run and bard died but it's better than nothing.
A3S
Most-likely didn't optimized last phase DPS.
I really hope I don't post this and THEN find the thread with the answer to my question. XD For BLM in Heavensward, can I continue just throwing my points into INT as I level up from 50 to 60, or is there any particular reason to spend in other categories with the new patch?
All into int, unless you absolutely want to do the opener without party PIE buff seeing you're not the right race.
Awe man, I actual switched to Au Ra with out even remembering the race stats. I didn't realize they had so much baring on that. XD Well I will try and make it work, but might switch races again later. Thanx for the info. :D
Hello Dervy i saw your post on dps rotation for heavenwards and i loved it ! big help but i play on the controller and i was wondering if you have any advice in the best way i can set my cross bar with your rotation.
Anyone have any idea what the new stat weights are roughly please?
I have no idea but I would assume Spd > Crit > Det is probably the way to go.
That would be my guess as well. It'll be interesting to see how the figures come out though. The build I'm shooting for right now (assuming acc cap for A4 is around 560-570) would have a ton of all three stats. Interesting to see how much higher these numbers can be stacked now.
Kinda presumptuous to state this without having many gear sets to test from, wouldn't you say? I could easily say:
In HW, SS is the most important. The higher the value, the higher chance to keep Enochian and higher DOT POTENCY too.
But I wouldn't mean that because it's just theory as of now.
SpSpeed is definitely the best stat rn, it makes the whole Enochian fiasco so much smoother IMO.
Well, I feel when I have a lot of Crit, I do not crit at all. It's really low. Spell Speed always work so I'm just mass stacking that. I also know the Accuracy cap for A4S but sadly, I can't talk since it was not cleared yet :3 But you can guess since people have claimed not missing at 530 in A3S.
I was a doof and referenced the wrong race stats when I switched races for my BLM. XD I am kinda disheartened about the race stat thing. I REALLY don't wanna be lalafell. Miqote is alright looks wise for me, but I would prefer to run Elezen. Thing is, I needed wildwood, according to my sources and I went with Duskwight. Thank goodness I have another potion. x.x
So before I use my last potion, anyone have any recommendations for me for what race I should be (NOT LALAFELL I know it is the best but I DUN WANNA. XD) or can I go with my plan to be Wildwood Elezen and still be able to do the opener for the lvl 60 rotation? Thank you for your time. :)
Best would be the highest Intelligence which is Elezen Duskwight. If you like long necks. You shouldnt have piety issues if your static does't run double whm.
I'm using Au'Ra Raen and it's working fine, also gives a nice bonus since I'm secondary WHM :p
