I'd love to stand with you guys and I think the price should all be comparative instead of just a flat 1$=1€=1£...... But I need my CE..... I'm sorry. :'(

So were i wanted to get CE i think not the price tag is way to high its **** like this that upsets me and puts me of getting DLC for games and ****. Its not a tax issue as tax is not 50% this is just pure greed on SE behalf but not to blame as it seems to be an industrial standard to beef up prices for UK players (and others).
I had a little faith that after all the problems over the past couple of days that this wouldnt happen and it has! Bad show SE, bad show.
Yep, just going to get the standard edition from a local place, who are offering a lovely discount. If i decide to get the CE upgrade later i'll still be getting it cheaper than if i got the digital CE.
Such a shame that SE won't be getting the full amount. But they don't deserve to.
I decided to pre-order the standard edition, not gonna pay them that much money for no real reason. I only really wanted the artbook out of the CE but if there were ever extra ce left they will eventually go super cheap, I will buy then. I still see ARR CE locally in my country and they sell them for like $25.
Sebs did you report them on that website? I had a quick look but it seems like it's a last port of call so might need to speak to SE first, no idea how to if about that though since they don't seem to be responding here!
Well I went on the store today with the hopes that they was going to change the price and they didn't... today marks a very bad day for the UK fans. Apparently its £108 before VAT one Twitter user mentioned to me but still a kick in the teeth for that price... sad day indeed.
I sent off an email enquiring about it yeah. Still not 100% sure if licensed software falls under this regulation unfortunately. It's well worthwhile popping an email to the uk office mentioning it though, as ever, the more people raise the issue, the more likely something is to actually happen about it.
And yeah, it's safe to assume that the UK and EU stock draws from the same pool, so a UK no show won't change anything (Except the profit margins!).
And just to stress the point again, try to remember this pricing nonsense is almost certainly down to SE's finance department rather than anyone we are going to find on here. I fully except the SE-EU team are just as frustrated and powerless about this as we are.
Well I don't know about you guys but I'm writing to BBC Watchdog about this! Its sickening they want to do this to us :( https://ssl.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006mg74/contact is the website to make the complaint. I would implore anyone UK and Global to take a few minutes to fill it out and submit. We need to do something about this at the very least get some backing on how unfairly we have been treated.
So after the pre-order site reopened the cost for physical Collector's in UK is still 130 pounds? This is because I live in Australia and the EU Square Enix website like to IP block their traffic so I am left with the Australia website that only has digital games only. Thank you for anyone that can help
EB is one of the retailers that will be carrying the Physical/boxed CE here in Aus.
Look around at the various AUS threads where the mod has already confirmed this ^^
Our digital CE price is $68.99 AUS - So only $10 more then the NA equivalent.
I am interested to see the price of the physical CE.
This has taken it too far now, why are we being penalised for living in the EU, why is the physical version of this collectors edition not converted correctly with the rates that NA or JP have to pay. I mean seriously SE get your heads out off your money grabbing asses there is no way that a really crap dragon statue and an art book is £80 as the difference in price between the digital and physical copies is ridiculous. £129.99 for physical and £44.99 for digital version. I would say do the maths and work this out but obviously you guys can't even do that as you think conversion rate works by changing the currency label.
I'm sorry SE but I think I shall now pay you in Gil I converted my UK money it's completely fair to do as you have just shown us by this ridiculous price tag so now I shall pay my subscription in Gil to you.
I still can't believe we never even got a response from a dev about the cost of it you just ignored us bad move SE.
I've pre ordered the ce window digital download and a phsyical ps4 standard copy.
That way I get the ce stuff and can apply it to my SE account and still have the ce stuff on my ps4.
They also couldn't confirm when I asked yesterday that there would be a ce ps4 digital download version.
You can get the PC standard edition for only £21.86 on shopto.net. So are they really saying that all those extras are worth an extra £110? Hell the Type 0 HD CE was only about £76.
Write for Metal Gear Solid V too...
Since they are selling the collectors for £100 and US is selling at $100

The more iffy/grey area is that we are not allowed to purchase a copy within the EU when we are part of the EU and EU law clearly states:
The EU rules give you more rights when you purchase services abroad, for example:
shopping at a supermarket
buying products online
getting your hair cut
contracting a construction company to build or renovate your house
booking your holidays at a travel agency
hiring a lawyer.
For these types of services, and others, you have the right to buy from a service provider located in another EU country without
price discrimination
having the seller refuse to sell to you simply because you live in a different EU country.
taken from http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens...s/index_en.htm
I strenously suggest writing to BBC Watchdog.
One of the sad things is, that if the CE doesn't sell well, SE will think that there is no demand for stuff like this in our region (UK)
They won't see it as the price thing, they'll see it as our fault. Its ridiculous, I cant even justify spending that much money for an expansion, maybe if we had beta tests and we had played with flying and such ourselves and it was AMAZING, then maybe just maybe I can justify it, but no. Sadly I have to bring up other publishers...Tales of Xillia collectors editions were both 80 pounds, both had a much bigger figure, an artbook, and a beautiful compact mirror, that was value for money.
And as such, I purchased a copy of each.
I already wrote to Watchdog myself, This price is just disgusting and i can't believe SE went through with it. They deserve what is coming for them. They don't deserve my respect anymore.
Well it took awhile, but I think I managed to get it all down... If I missed anything can someone please follow up on what I missed out, Thanks.
Here's my letter in the hopes many of you will do the same :)
Square Enix the gaming company announced that Preorders for their upcoming expansion of their popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will go ahead on the 17/3/2014 at 7am GMT. When the time came the website crashed and no one was able to get online and place any orders but before it did people manage to get the prices for the product in question that being the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward Collector´s Edition https://store.eu.square-enix.com/eme...rs-Edition.php It turns out that its sells for $129.99 in the US, 129.99 euros and £129.99 in the UK!! [Cont]
[Cont]We launched a forum on the official site to try and get an answer about the pricing as it surely was wrong but we got no reply from Square Enix on the matter on the forums but we did get confirmation on their official Twitter page @SQUARE_ENIX_EU stating that it is indeed £129.99 (we got this answer close towards the evening) When we asked why is the UK fans paying an extra £40 (roughly) they said they cannot talk about it. [Cont]
[Cont]Most of us was hopeful that they took the site down due to the pricing being a mistake as it surely has to be but this morning (18/03/14) I went to check the website as they said it will be available to purchase 7am the following day and it was indeed back online with a slight interruption and the price still remained £129.99!
Taken from a forum post at:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...51#post2845151
I gathered all the prices for the same product globally and compared them this is what I found.
15,984.00 JPY = 89.3619 GBP
Japanese Yen ↔ British Pound
1 JPY = 0.00559071 GBP 1 GBP = 178.868 JPY
--
129.99 USD = 88.0954 GBP
US Dollar ↔ British Pound
1 USD = 0.677709 GBP 1 GBP = 1.47556 USD
--
129.99 EUR = 93.6470 GBP
Euro ↔ British Pound
1 EUR = 0.720417 GBP 1 GBP = 1.38808 EUR
[Cont]
[Cont]But the UK are being asked to pay £129.99...
129.99 GBP = 23,258.16 JPY
129.99 GBP = 191.893 USD
129.99 GBP = 180.437 EUR
So we are clearly getting ripped off there but to make matters worse cause we are in the EU we asked if we can order an EU copy instead since it worked out cheaper to purchase an EU copy and we was told yes EU/UK codes work but the store is region locked and the item in question is only available on their store so basically denying a UK citizen from purchasing in the EU to which a few people stated that since we are part of the EU that's basically illegal to do and pointed us to this website for confirmation http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens...s/index_en.htm
At the very beginning of the site it clearly states

That’s a clear violation what they are doing there! The UK populace of Fans for the Final Fantasy Franchise and the game in question itself have been treated very VERY poorly on this and we need help! As I said earlier we started a forum on the matter but we are all being ignored. Could you please seriously look into this for us.
Many Thanks

@Riamu
You have nor ights when it comes to these consideration. Your neighbourg cost of living isnt the same as yours (speaking of different countries) the value of USD 10 is not the same in the US for a local then it has for me if I go on holiday. USD 10.-- you do nothing in here where I live, barely you can buy a coffee or two. In Italy a coffee costs around EUR 1, where I live converted is EUR 4.--. Tell me you sure you would spend EUR 90.-- for BASIC game (price of a new game in here where I live) and this allover the world ? when you know that in some countries EUR 90.-- is the monthly wages??
People see only the exchange rate but what you need to look at is what you can do in your country and this of the country you buy it from with the same amount, in my example EUR 90.--
Beside that, there are rules of import/export in each countries, even if I receive a DVD from the US I will pay the difference at the custom, between the price that I paid to buy it and the value it has or would be sold in here where I live.
Mei.
Just don't buy it. No idea why people are falling over themselves to give SE money - the expansion is 3 months away. 3 months - plenty will happen between now and then.
no/low sales figures will send the message loud and clear.
Oh my! What a post :)
Yes they do, it's called the European Economic Union :)
Basically you want to say that people living in the UK should pay 40% more because they earn 40% more than a sort of right price for the rest of Europe?
You are contradicting yourself a lot in this last part of your post.
Dude, you don't understand anything about economics. Digital content is not imported.
if you take it like that ...yes.. it isnz that I WANT IT, hell if I could I would buy it for free, but that is a reality that plays a role when you fix prices, a reality that a company cannot ignore and nobody can ignore. WHy you think when you go and buy clothing elsewehre you are limited in what you can effectively buy outside of your country of domicile ? because of it, ti is considered importation and subject to taxes which I explained in a nutshell. You really believe that a product sold in France has the same price as the same product sold in Portugal ? you dreaming right ? Economic union doesnt mean the price is the same allover...or else allover Europe for the same job you would earn the same and is not the case nor is the prices for a house in France the same as this of Spain...eh?
You pay 40 % more but you also earn 40 % then the average person of the other country (kidn of sort of...well not that much but still more). I dont say mistakes dont occur and probably 40% is a bit much but saying you have the right to pay the SAME as the other country, that is a non sense...even if I wished it was otherwise.
Other then that, each to their own, nothing forces you to buy it.
Mei
Again, digital content is not clothing, nor anything material.
I was looking forward to this, but with the present pricing situation, I'm a U.K resident, I have decided not to buy. It's not just the disappointing extras, for the price. I just don't think this game in it's present form can demand such a price.
Paid my £129.99 at 7am this morning. Not happy about it.
Last time I paid this much in one go for a game was for the Lord of the Rings Online. Pre-release you could pay £120.00 to become a founder - beautiful CE (much better than this disappointing Heavensward box), early access and a lifetime subscription (to one of the most innovative and slick MMOs produced so far I must add). After a few years it went F2P, but I now get Cash Shop points every month at no cost which is more than enough to purchase the expansion packs as they are released. What excellent customer service.
You could learn a thing or two, Square. Here's hoping that you make some reparation to your UK subscribers.
Now this is a sound reasoning, which is probably THE ONLY means of pressure customers in this case users have which is NOT to buy, demand/offer also plays a role in the price, beyond all the rest. Each people are free to determine if they want to spend so much or not. Like when you enter a shop, you are free to buy or not, the price is there ...decide
Apart that, all is fine. I tried to buy it and pay in GBP, I couldnt do it, I had to pay it in EUR, which is silly..since I am not part of EU....as in European Union
