The sad part is if that was the first step, that would have been okay with 90% of the people complaining right now, because then we would have a goal with a guaranteed number of "This is how many you need to do of X, Y, and Z." Which means we know the amount we need, we can work to it. But with RNG and these FATEs, we could do over 200 of them in a row and never see a single atma. This was a bad idea to make this first step RNG based.

Prior to this patch, many of you were whining about how this game is boring, everything is handed to the player, nothing to do after Monday, bla bla bla.

So here's the thing, SE gave you something to work on, something that will occupy the remaining 6 days of the week. And then you lot whine again.

One advice, in the future think before u whine, SE takes this seriously.

How many asked for RNG, bucko? I sure as hell did not, I asked for something skill based that will take time. Step 2 of this Relic Upgrade Quest fulfills that. But Step 1? Whoever asked for it needs to go to the Insane Asylum if they think this is fun at all.

I am not a huge fan of the FATE grinding... but more than anything I think it was lazy.

I get that they want people out in the world- but rather than add interesting content to achieve that- they AGAIN recycled content and made it a rng grind.

This has got to be one of the least creative means to an end I have seen design-wise. It would have made more sense to have these rng drops in new dungeons... with clickables out in the world... some sort of combo kill mobs/find stuff...basically any of the classic overused quest mechanics but with new content. Instead they just found a new reason to force people to grind content they didn't want to do....disappointing. There are some noteworthy content additions with this patch... but the "long term" stuff is really just "moar" of the same, imo.

I am starting to wonder if the only answers they have to questions are

1. Farm FATES
2. Grind tokens

The game is starting to get a very repetitive "Farmville" vibe to me.

Personally, I think more people would have had an issue with the way things were before if more people were able to actually kill titan. I think that acquiring an important reward like your class weapon should be arduous and require a lot of time - and doing FATEs until you get your item is indeed arduous and requires a lot of time... but not the right kind of time.

at 6AM on Adamantoise the number of players doing FATEs was pretty low, but I am willing to bet there are tons of players doing them and now the FATEs are over so fast that you can't even get credit on some characters. FATEs move along pretty quickly with 3 players. They are over in a flash with 30. With 50, you have a bunch of people who didn't even get credit.

No one asked for a Repeat of the Lightning Event.

Well, to occupy everyone's free time, they need to make you grind, bread and butter of all MMO. It is either grinding based on RNG or a set number of grind. Even if it is a set number of grind, people will still complain. Just take a look at tank forum when they are whining about the 200 times in high level dungeon grind for mount. MMO is not design for all to get the highest level of gear over night. You need to put in afford. Well, i might admit, grinding LOW level fate might be too much. May i suggest the below possible solution:-

1. Grind high end dungeon for loot that will only drop by final boss. Something like grinding nightmare (mount) from extreme.
2. Grind a set number of high end dungeon. Looking at the amount of 300-400.

How does that sound? Not good? Then what you guys expect? kill 10 oppo oppo and get your final relic?

This is just the beginning of the patch. People rushing for them all the time. Just like when lightning event started people swarming in for the FATE, but after a week, everything cools down. Like SE mentioned, this relic thingy requires a lot of time and most people won't be able to complete it before next patch. So here you go, something collective that you can keep working on.

worst idea ever and requires no skill, i mean really... these are supposed to be the most epic weapons we can get... and we have to farm dumb low lvl fates for hours on end for them

Wondering if each FATE has "drop limitation", so more participants will make you harder to get?
If it is true, after weeks, the drops will become the most unwanted item after each FATE... ^^:

Exactly the right attitude, don't want to spend 5(or more) hours a day doing this, don't do it, do it more casually, as in- do some fates when you go through a zone that you know drops one of the atmas or just dedicate 1-2(or whatever you want) hours a day to it.
No one is forcing you to get them, in fact you have other options(three of them) when it comes to weapons, and certainly NO ONE is telling you to do it all in a marathon style grind, it's clearly been designed as something where you can progress however much you want, whenever you want with no restrictions whatsoever.

I'm not defending it(although i honestly don't mind it at all, and i will get it), but all this overblown drama is annoying.

Having a max level, high geared character grind low level FATEs in order to obtain a Zodiac weapon is just pure tedious and dumb.

2 hours of pure fate grinding and still 0 of 12 atma.
And after that we still have to grind 13500 myths?? 100myth per ct, 20myth per coil....

NO thanks.

Just give us an invincible boss that we have to beat in order to obtain zodiac. Would be more fun than the above.

MFW without any sort of hint of irony we come full circle with the FFXI-esque suggestions. A rose-tinted vocal minority spam about how having to mindlessly whack monsters for 1000 hours is the height of online gaming, SE provides an upgrade path in that vein and to no one's surprise the majority of players think it's tedious nonsense. You'd think the catastrophic failure of 1.0 would be a lasting historical lesson but we apparently have to relearn it every now and then while people with both foresight and hindsight will continue to post "I told you so".

My Feedback Regarding the Relic Upgrade Quest Is if your not going to fairly reward players for there work, then goodbye.
40 Fates & not 1 drop, many of those solo because NO ONE LIKE FATES. as we have told you before & you offically said you would take into concideration for future quests. Obviously not enough concideration was taken or your Dev team is :confused: .

Now that aside

No one has a probliem with doing stuff for upgrades, Alot of stuff even, BUT if not fairly rewarded for there work Then its just B/S. You need to reward players fairly for there efforts. which isnt happening.

& 2 last things.

1. This whole patch stinks of Blackmail. whm free mount, tanks 200 tanking b/s with past efforts ignored. To do roulette you need to do unessassary dungeons which dont give you anything you need so you really have no reason to do them yet your forcing us to do them that is the definition of BLACKMAIL. e.t.c. theres more of it in there. so much more i could list.

2. 3 Dungeons ONLY to cap the new tomes. Seriously so 10 runs of the same dungeon per week just to be able to be up to date on 1 class... this here is more proof of lack of thought, lack of progression, lack of knowlege with mmos. E.t.c. so much i could add. & yes turn 6-9 does drop them, but the players are SO bad those raids cant be concidered as a source for tomes for most players until way way later on.

Less than impressed.

My issue is not the grind. I like the FFXI-style grind, and welcome it to get a relic. A relic should take work and be something that when people see it on someone else they go, "Whoa".

My problem is the inconsistency with the drop rate on Atma. My friend got 5 Atma in 2 hours. I just got done grinding fates for several hours and got 0 Atma.

This is unfair. I put in over twice the amount of time he put in, and got no reward for it.

Grinding 900 mobs to get a weapon is fine, because as long as everyone grinds those same 900, they will get the same reward. Grinding fates where I literally haven't received ANYTHING compared to others is uncool.

I'm almost tempted to think that Atma don't exist and this is the entire internet trolling me... :p

FATE grinding is terrible. That being said, at the rate this is going for me, chances are I'll finish my Paragon's Gown achievement before I get my Curtana/Holy Shield Animus. It won't stop me from poopsocking till I have all my atmas, then poopsocking some more to get atmas for the rest of my relics. All it does is makes me a bit more irritated since I don't have a definite goal such as "Kill X FATE mobs in Y zone" and instead it's an ambiguous "Farm FATEs in XYZ zones and hope the RNG gods smile upon you".

Grinding for RNG drops is something that belongs in a Korean F2P MMO, not a game that every single player is paying to have access to every month.

Or we could, you know, not do them.

It isn't just about rushing content and trying to get it done for a week. Even if I farmed FATEs for an hour a day, every day, I am pretty sure there is nothing I would enjoy about it.

By all means, make it take a long time to get. Make it take dedication. But make the trial relevant to player skills that are valuable to players who are actually going to use these weapons.

Bots and Goldfarmers don't Raid.

Seriously need to remove the random factor. Most ppl hete don't mind doing all 12 FATES TWICE, to get the needed items.

Random factors are just too, RANDOM.

There is also a chance that the FATEs drops being so low could be a "bug".

6 hours to get one atma is my longest time. I've heard some people have been farming since the servers came up and still haven't gotten one. That's almost 24 hours without a drop, which means something is up with the drop rate.

Yet I have 4 atmas from about 3 hours of farming and there are a couple in my fc who have 12 atmas already. Fun fact: Rng is a bitch, learn to deal with it.

Not sure what they can be fixing but it obviously has to do with " All the worlds". Currently, outside the Low drop rate of Atmas ( which could be a likely candidate), I don't see anything wrong that needs fixing ( at least on my server.) I do hope the drop rate is better. right now it seems like it's sitting at 5% drop rate. Changing it to roughly 20% would at least have the people that are 24hrs without a drop to have a drop hopefully by the 2nd or 3rd hour. Luck is luck however, and everyone needs it :P.

It's funny, because you're trying to take players who are more than willing to take on a real challenge instead of grinding enough FATEs to level another class and throw them under the bus.

When people aren't happy with something, they are gonna complain about it. And farming FATEs for endgame gear that involves no challenge other than "how many FATEs can you do without having nightmares about them" just so happens to be a hot button.

I'm glad that you enjoy your rate of success. I'm glad that you wouldn't care if you had my rate of success.

But I don't, and I will not change my feelings on the matter just because you're a little upset about what is being discussed on the forums today.

But here's a tip: If you don't like what you're reading, then don't! Go and play the game and have fun.

Seems like the drop rate is something like 1 or 3%, it should be at least 10-20% to not completely piss off most people.

That and atma/animus aren't that great, and you have to spend assloads of myth to get animus anyway.

It's funny because there's no challenge in end game tier content either. You are only investing time and that's exactly the same thing you are doing with these fates unless you're telling me that you already down Turns 6-9 and Leviathan Extreme.

Which would be hilarious if true.

The whole point behind all this was so that High level people do FATE's so that new players have help doing them. Also so that more Seals are generated so that crafting materials get into the market.

The emergency maintenance is to remove items from the Calamity Salvagers until bugs with it can be fixed. Artemis Bow/Stardust Rod are, for some people, unavailable after getting doing the quest, or available to those that havent.

Believe it or not, I wouldn't mind if I hadn't gotten a single drop. I have played enough mmos to know how rng works, some days it works some days it doesn't. I also hope they reset it and make it 0.01%, the tears would be delicious.

It really makes me laugh that people are crying about this, one day into it. Obviously never played FFXI. The 75 relics weapons took YEARS to get. YEARS to farm and save the MILLIONS of gil to buy the items!!! If you want some instant gratification go play some FTP/PTW game.

Wow lots of people quoting me saying this is what players asked for. I, for one, did not ever ask for more fates (and I never would). I have no problem with a questline, or item taking a long time to get. Just because FFXI or older MMOs may have had mind-numbing grinds, or some other MMOs have worse grinds, doesn't make grinding fates for RNG loot a good idea. What most people (that I saw) were asking for was a fun and engaging open world. A reason to go out that wasn't boring, and would actually bring people together. Fates don't do that, never really have well. As I said, it is what it is.. but it's not challenging. It's not what people asked for. It's just more of SE trying to force Fates down our throats. People aren't even grouping for these things for the most part. At least not on my server.

First I did not liked it, but after having a good night sleep I think it is fine the way it is now. I already have 5 of them. Sometimes it dropped in 15 minutes, sometimes it took 2 hours. Deal with it. And as others said, farming 13500 mythology for the books will be much tougher.

Can't really compare this to XI, because Dynamis was fun, well for me anyways. You got to sit there in Zone with like 40+ people talking it up, lulzing (or raging) at bad pulls just having a good time. This though, while it isn't as bad as other games I've played; kinda sucks. . .It's so boring my mind went numb. . .like literally it went numb, I couldn't feel my head. Sigh. . .
