Very Hard To Acquire Money (Gil) In This Game

Well I ran AK about 4 times yesterday.
One run I got about 6 Gil from trash, no Gil from chests.
One run I got 7 gil thingies, so that makes 700 Gil.
Next two runs were pretty much the same shit.
Repair costs were 900, with 0 deaths (3 good groups, one bad group with clueless DPS wearing 27 lv items).

This concluded the "play time" for me since I also have to take care of the RL things.
Maybe you people have more time than me, or maybe you are luckier in dungeons, I don`t know. But IMO there is no money to be made by running dungeons.

Crafting is fun. And every ~3 runs in AK I make at least 10k <_<

Exactly... As someone who has almost all crafts/gathering 40+, I still regularly shop for things on the AH. If I need to make an item whether for use, a class quest, or whatever, I will check the cost of buying it outright from the AH. If it's reasonably priced for me, I buy it. Time literally equals money in this game. For instance, I wanted to make a few of a specific CUL dish tonight and I didn't have all of the materials in my box. As a 40+ bot, I could have easily went out and gathered the three materials I was missing. But before leaving Limsa, I check the AH and two of the items are selling a full stack of 99 for less than a thousand gold while the third item is priced closer to 100 gil a piece. I buyout the two stacks and then go farm the third mat.

Even as someone who can craft/gather anything himself, I still constantly am buying from the market as well. In fact if you're not doing this, in all likelihood you're not being efficient with your time, if your goal is to make gil. And gil is very easy to make if you have any idea about what items are actually valuable, even if you have no gathering/crafting classes leveled. For instance on my server right now, Boar hides are selling for 800 gil a piece. If you have any level 50 DoM/DoW class, you can go solo farm these with mobs dropping up to 3 at a time. Diremite webs are selling for 500 gil a piece. Etc... With very minimal research, you can make money on whatever class you decide to level.

And lastly, the market is all relative. Even if EVERYBODY stopped doing crafting/battle leves because they could make more money from selling/buying on the AH, no one quested, or NPC'ed any items, it still wouldn't kill the economy. Because it's all relative, so prices would adjust slowly downward accordingly, until a point where questing/doing leves becomes more profitable than the AH, and people would do those to increase their spending power more quickly. So no need for a "woe to the economy - it's going to crash", the economy is fine and inflation will continue. Yes, you may not be able to strike it rich playing AK repeatedly... but there are plenty of ways to make significant gold quickly if that's your goal. It takes a minimal amount of research and just a little time to do.

Crafting and gathering leves give the most amount of gil,combat classes want their money to fall on their hands while doing only "fun" things, well good sirs not every thing is fun and giggles and you came and took this game knowing that there will be pieces of the pie you would not like but had to eat.
The crafters and gatherers are doing the hard work and getting the hard cash, it would be a slap on the face to crafting if combat classes were just as profitable as us, it would turn the system redundant and ultimately useless.

The thing is, most of the people complaining pull out the argument that there will be not enough money after a while, this sounds to me like a horrible try at sounding like a philanthropist, as if you really cared for the well being of others and their money.
Personally I do not lie to myself, if i want money i bust my ass for it and look ways to make cash on whats available, if I just want to roll around with bare minimums I do not expect the system to fork over money in my lap.
Giving an alternative to the need for money, SE could always introduce alternate ways to pay for your repairs (reusable repair kits,repair stations bought with seals or other type of currency, special npcs/etc), or they can always add silver allagan pieces and the rare gold to leves.

Bots have pushed down the prices of gathering mats to rock bottom. Isn't it like that on Cactuar too?

It depends on the profession, metal and wood have certain tiers that are expensive like elm and iron, food is darn cheap.

The real money lies in crystals and shards, thats what ive seen that bots sell the most and it stays at a healthy price i might say.

I bought 2400 shards for around 50k g, which is a pretty good deal.

Gil buff is coming with 2.1

Don't buy from RMT, you would waste your money ^^

Not enough time to go to Central Shroud and kill a hand full Raptors for Raptor Hides or to go to North Shroud to kill a handfull Banemites for Diremite Webs?
You don't need a DoH or DoL to sell stuff in the AH. Just go with your battle class in a Lv30+ or Lv40+ area, kill some monsters and sell the stuff in the AH.
Once a week should be ok.

Or buy some accessories, wear them during trash kills and meld them in materia after the AK run. Then sell the materia in the AH.

Even if you can do most of the repairs and such yourself, it is possible to come across one beyond the scope of your ability to fix it. That is what the professionals are really there for. Not the generic every day fixes. Which is why even if everyone maxes out each class, there will still be a need for the skilled crafters. After all, end game FCs and shells don't just take any old tank, dps or healer with them, they want the skilled ones, same goes for crafting.
