Are you for or against the addition of race-based bonuses?

I'm against racial bonuses, but racial abilities that are useful but pointless for anything serious. While WoW hate seems high here, a good example does come from WoW in the form of Cannibalize, which let you eat Human/Zombie corpses for 10 seconds to restore HP every 3 minutes(iirc on the CD). In the long run it did save you some cash on food(which was dirt cheap or free if you were/knew a mage) but it didn't provide any gamebreaking benefits in endgame or PvP. (For the sake of arguement, lets not touch things like Stoneform or Will of the Forsaken)

While being ultimately pointless, abilities of this vein would add variety and make the races more unique.

I'm not really against racial traits asmuch as i'm against many of the ways they have been implimented in the past.


I am not a fan of % skill/stat bonuses. They add very little at early stages of play, but can become un-manageable at higher levels. The more a person adds in stats (And concidering the current stat "spread" used per job, stacking for the percentage would be prevelant.

I'm not a fan of any real stat/skill bonuses. But you could likely get away with a +/- 3 on some stats.

But i think if anything was to be added akin to this, we should get away from it being based on racial choice, which is more of an aesthetic choice. Perhaps Cultural bonus chosen when you roll a character (or perhaps around lvl 25-30) Which would:

1. Give people a choice of what they want
2. Allow stat padding without interfeering with race choice, so if numbers are all that matters to you, You can get what you want where you want it.
3. Allow a bit of personal lore to a character since its a chosen bonus, it could be something such as (You grew up as a farmer your stamina is stronger then city types) etc.

Of all the lists I liked Rubieus' the most, basiclly because they were more of bonus, but not directly influencing much on a per fight basis. Minus the Tunnel Vision Idea. Not a big fan of bypassing linked monsters.

I'd rather have Milestones that i can choose from as i go if we're looking at skill bonus or stat bonus. Instead of a choice directly tied to what race i find aesthetiiclly pleasing.

Racial stat differences could be negated with materia anyway, so its not this explicitly evil thing from XI that every one seems so hell bent on.

Well at higher levels the racials didn't matter as much, and there were plenty of kick as Galka mages, and noone bitched when a Galka tank was at the lead. There were also kick as Taru PLD.

MAybe for some aspects, gathering o r minor aspecs. Yet peope lwill have ways around it. Become better players.

I was a kick ass Taru BLM and Sch and RDM, nuke the hell out of mobs. But there are times If I was a Galka, SPLAT wouldn't happen as much.

I had no issue as a dancer, PLD, Monk, Beastmaster or other You change your style.
