The funnier thing to me is that some tanks don't even need healing anymore.

This would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
How many times have I seen players announce that they wanted nothing more than to dedicate themselves to healing above all? How many times have I been called a slyphie (or worse) for saying dps is a privilege not a requirement, and look. The moment healing becomes more challenging someone comes along and asks why their dps time has been cut short. The moment a healer is introduced that is challenging to play, people say it's too challenging.
I feel like this conversation happens every expansion.
I think people are just forgetting what it feels like when everyone is undergeared and new to content.
Off topic but I have similar experience with mentors...

YouTube videos are mostly memes and jokes but this one isn't too bad...
I main sch found the first dungeon to feel pretty much the same as the first one in ShB. Sch is 90 now and healing feels almost identical to ShB. Aside from the fairy QoL of course. And I'm speaking from the point of view of someone who has had the same person tanking for them in both expansions.
You'd think after 3 expansions "I want to be forced to spam heal spells more" people woulda figured out it's not gonna happen.
Get you a tank in AF gear doing a max pull in the EX90 dungeon trash that isn't using his mitigation properly and you'll find that you won't be doing much of any DPS.
Heck even in the 87 dungeon I had a Tank who managed to die while Haima, 2x 10% DR buffs and Regen effects were all active on him. He literally died between GCDs.
It's very much a Tank problem if a healer can blow every single healing cooldown possible on them and then die in the spam of a single GCD.
Many of the mobs in these trash pulls have mini tank busters.
As main white mage, i used benediction and most of my healing spell more than other expansion, that is something good
Scholar shields seem super broken sometimes you take no DMG during heavy aoe phases
