Balmung re-opened

I...Have to ask, partially because I'm so used to a busy world, but...

Why would you want the world to be emptier? Or is it just a Quicksand thing?

I second this. I created an alt on Zalera, be it for transfer or a foothold if I got my alts on Balmung directly, and Ul'dah in its entirety was just barren. It was so jarring and unwelcoming.

When I came home yesterday, I noticed Balmung was not blocking creation of new characters anymore. Guess I could have waited with my character transfer a bit longer. Oh well ^_^

Yeah I managed to get both of mine in when it was like stupid o'clock server-side. It's not locked by policy, but temporarily gets locked by congestion.

I caved and returned to Balmung. Mostly after months of people asking me to do just that. :p

I'm surprised the whole datacenter didn't crash.

After seeing all these posts on the forums I'd thought thousands of people would all transfer to Balmung once it would open.
Well, this forum/game is full of liars anyway.


How long would you guys give it before they will lock it again?

Speaking as someone who has been on Balmung the whole time, the server handled it amazingly well.

It's not a joke!

As for how many people transferred? I don't think there was a huge flood of people. I imagine quite a few remained elsewhere simply due to owning a house.

Yeah that would be quite the incentive to remain where they are, especially with Balmung being the cesspit it is when it comes to housing.
