Well it'll be the end of the more challenging content. I'm perfectly fine with how they're running things right now as long as they don't make endgame raid easy as soon as they're launched. CT is already like that which is disappointing since they don't even provide a hard alternative so coil is pretty much the last bastion for challenging endgame content.

I seem to recall several players stating the same thing when the First Coil was being mentioned for easing difficulty. Shortly after 2.2 dropped and they were all in second coil, their comments about it stopped. I assume due to them getting shiny new gear to lord around in.

I won't make broad statements overall, only a small portion of the raiding community is interested in keeping content that has ZERO meaning to them once 2.4 drops super difficult for those else able to handle it. The experience some have of beating it while 'still hard' will never be diminished by those who beat it later because yes, they worked hard and beat it hard and are already working on the next hard tier.

There is a ton of other challenging things that we can do instead of coil? Like what? Primals? If you think they will nerf coil but wont nerf primals into the ground then you are pretty much delusional. As it stands, coil is the only thing keeping this game alive, and you want people to be able to clear it within 30 minutes of entering on day 1, just ridiculous that people are actually coming here and asking for things to be nerfed in the first place. None of the mechanics are "unfair" as many people have already cleared coil, the problem is that people flat our refuse to work on their own progression or simply do not have the time to play, yet they demand that since because they pay a subscription that they get their watered down content.

Well guess what, I pay a subscription too and I don't want you ruining my game.

The content is supposed to get easier due to people getting better gear, not because encounters are nerfed. There is a difference.

You've already been proven wrong. Accessibility for drops form first to second coil was made more restrictive, and has already been declared that that system of ilvl advancement from second coil will be repeated for third.


You also fail to quantify your statement. "This will happen" Has no time marker on it. Ten years down the road when your argument isn't even valid anymore Square Enix may choose to make the game more generally accessible and you'll scream like an old man shaking his cane 'see, I was right!'

This is the same for all those calling slippery slope or other such logical falicies. They'll keep their predictions as broad as possible so they have the least chance of being wrong, even when history continues to do so.

Count yourself among those who said this game would be free to play inside six months. I however will remember your augment with bemusement a year from now when we're into 3.2 and the situation hasn't changed. I'll have some nice recipes for how to eat crow for you then.

I'm guessing the concept of power creep escapes you.

There is a lot about MMO and gaming communities in general you may need to educate yourself upon before weighing in on things. I'd also recommend economics, game design and human behaviors as well, but we'll take things one step at a time.

Point being you couldn't be more historically wrong. Most games without sliding difficulties fall flat or rely on a small niche to get by. The higher up in difficulty you go, the smaller the niche.

No it wont. This is a gross overreaction.

Hardcore players are progressive endgamers. They will conquer the new content, milk it for its moneys worth and move on, but where does that leave us casual players? If the head of the endgame community is no longer playing it intensively then they should nerf the content so that way the casuals or people who are skilled enough but not lucky enough to find a group to advance to the current level of the endgame community can clear it.

Stop being an ass and let others enjoy quality content the developers made for everyone. Not just the endgame community, especially when its no longer being used.

The sad part about all this is when these nerfs and echo buff stacks arrive, the struggling players still struggle lol.

Will they struggle? Yes they will. But you know what? At least many of them will try and some friends who are in full raid statics can come back to help/teach since the lockout restriction will be removed. It will still be hard to the non-raiding group, just not as hard as it was when it launched.

I believe if we are both paying the same sub fee as everyone else then it's OUR game. Yours, mine, and everyone else who pays the sub.

Personally, I think they should stick with the normal and brutal versions. Have the normal version that gets nerfed over time (though still require some effort. While within the current set of content, a raid shouldn't ever be just handed out). Once the next expansion hits and makes those raids obsolete, they should be gutted for difficulty ('cause honestly, why would anyone run them anymore except for glamour/furnishing items?). People that complete it first still get the reward of getting the gear and the story a good 3-6 months before anyone else, and gets them geared for Brutal.

The Brutal version should stay the same forever AND drop special versions of the gear. It wouldn't have any extra stats (or maybe a very small bump, like a HQ version of a gear), but would have extra graphic enhancements like particle effects or maybe be dyeable, in order to make those people stand out (along with extra titles they already get). Maybe make the furnishing mat drop(s) make a version of the furnishing that's extra glowy, too (like the difference between HM and EX Primal furnishings).

I do agree that people that can beat Coil should get rewarded, but as long as they keep the raid tied to important story elements, everyone should be able to have opportunity to complete it -eventually-, even if they're only got a mediocre skill level. However, there always should be a version that will be a challenging version that gives special rewards to those that manage to complete it for those that play Coil for the challenge, and the loot is just a means to the end. I'd even go so far as to put an iLv cap on the Brutal versions, just so they STAY hard, no matter how overgeared you get.

Now in the future, if they made raids have no story elements beyond the lore that it establishes before you go in it (oh hey, this hole in the ground has a long lost Allgean ruin that we'll explain the lore of in a cutscene before you go in. Now go loot it. You know, like most 4 man dungeons in the game.), I wouldn't care less about how hard it stays.

You'll be enterring second coil post 2.4 with echo turned off and your gear no higher than ilvl 110, yes? Just as you enter first coil with turned off echo and your gear scaled down to ilvl 90, I take it, to keep that hard difficulty level alive? Well, are you? Because if you aren't, do kindly cease speaking, as it would make you a hypocrit.
