Linux support would be nice. I wonder if Yoshi's gotten his hands on a Steambox.

Normally I would be all for this sort of thing, but i refuse to support the Xbox One in any shape or form.
I agree with this statement 100% which also mean that I do NOT support SE or Yoshida's plan to continue spreading out to other platforms (at least not right now). While it's great that PS4-ers got their hand on the game and many PS3-ers got a chance to upgrade, I felt like this decision hindered development resource that could be put to rolling out content patches faster and god forbid possibly putting the roadmap back on track.
Yes, it's great that we can get more people to join this game, but so what? That's not the point here. Yoshida claimed that he wanted to relaunch FF14 as a quality Final Fantasy game that could survive on 400k sub. Well last I remember, we have way over 500k daily unique logins which realistically would put us over 600k+ sub. What we need now is more focus on dx11 implementation, addons, frontline, airship, gold saucer, overworld primals, and anything that Yoshida used to tease and made this game a worthwhile investment during the beta test. (For ex: addons and frontline were supposed to come 3 months ago according to Yoshida's interview last year)
Like the user I've quoted, I'm also quite aware of how much this game was dumbed down in term of quality and gameplay for the mass. I've tried to defend FF14 when the relaunch was swamped with login errors and bugs. When people whined about how patches were delayed, I tried to sympathize with Yoshida and the challenges his team had to keep everything running. But now I don't care anymore, I just don't want to see empty promises coming from Yoshida given how much faith I and many others have given him. I've put my money where my mouth is and I will keep subscribing at least to see how the expansion unfold.
tl;dr: Focus on promised content FAST, NOT on more platform launches
The PS3 runs this game fine, not perfect, but it gets the job done. The problem with the argument you are presenting is that you subscribe to a lot of speculation brought forth by others or yourself and then present them as they are fact. The fact is we do not know if the fame would be better or more to your liking if the PS3 wasn't supported.
In the end I think we are both approaching it from two different points of view. You from a player, and me as a developer. While I do not know what SE has planned I do understand the vast amount of work that goes into what they had to do. In the end they have made a fantastic game, and the best way for the game to keep getting better is to being it to more audience. China, Xbox, Latin America, etc...
That's what I'm trying to do here, I can understand our point of view, and can respect you for it, but I disagree with your arguments as a whole. :)
Traditionally these two pieces are handled by different teams. I support Latin America being on its own setup because content localization could have an impact on speed of patches for the same reasons you give, but don't feel the same way about the game as you do. As I feel that Yoshio-P and team have proven themselves, and have delivered on their promises.
