People remember negative more. You don't even need to look this up. It's because generally most experiences are pleasant, and our infrequent negative experiences stand out.
Fact: you see less people come to forums to praise than you do to complain. The proof is all around us. -

The game was so hard, and progress so difficult to achieve that who you knew became one of the most important parts of the game. Convincing people to help you for a few hours with no gain for themselves is difficult, but the entire game required it so you had to be nice and helpful at all times. This lead to a situation where keeping your reputation clean and earning karma with others was a full time job. People who did thinks such as ninja looting became community pariahs and would have trouble for years. I remember one guy on carbuncle ninja looted something in Dynamis and 5 years later people still didn't like giving him party invites despite being clean ever since then. If you were an a total ass people who never met you would know about it and refuse to even help you. Word traveled fast in XI. I've never experience a community that was so closely knit where your reputation was everything such as it was in ffxi. This isn't nostalgia glasses. This is just how it was. The sheer amount of nasty attitudes I've seen on this forum and in game has blown my mind considering how mature most of the FFXI community was.Quote:
