From reading this whole thread, it seems like most of the gear that's being complained about is stuff that's held over from 1.0 and all the new stuff is being praised.

1.0 gear: all darklight (healer and monk DL are just recolors of existing DL), heavy darksteel, coliseum gear, AF

New gear: battlemage set, foestriker's set, cavalry set, allagan set, DoL/H AF gear

So far, there are only a handful of completely NEW sets of armor in the game. Obviously more will be coming soon, including cool stuff like PvP armor (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/g...PvP-Armor.html). {Please look forward to it.}

Well, from what I've seen of the coliseum gear It's not that bad looking ;P

I think the heavy darklight for tanks makes sense, I don't really like it, but it makes logical sense.

For PUG/ARC, the whole subligar set would make sense for 'ease of movement', same goes for casting classes.


I feel this game has a higher degree of consistency in its gear than that of some of the other MMOs i've played, consider the following;

The piece of gear that the development team added in 1.23 for 'shits and giggles' was this, ONE gear set whereas in some games like TERA pretty much everything is designed for sex appeal, rather than a logical decision;

We need vanity slots in 2.1, as well as the option to at least toggle accessories on and off like with headgear. It'd be nice for those players wanting to play the rugged type if you could toggle your shirt on and off as well.

One of the main differences being that in Tera, almost every armor type looks different on a per race & gender level. While that "heavy armor" is essentially bikini chainmail for female Castanics, when worn on a Human or male castanic, it is very much heavy armor. So it is quite consistent when looked at an ingame lore perspective.

Some of the armour sets do like a bit meh. :( I was so disappointed when I got to 50, had cool looking AF gear, then immediately replaced it with what looked like lv20 quest rewards from AK. The Dye system is really a missed opportunity and I hope with Vanity slots they reconsider their stance on not being able to dye Green quality or higher armour pieces. Especially when the WHM AK set make you look like you made clothes from your Nan's discarded 1970s sofa, the MNK one looks like a discarded Christmas sweater and the BLM one looks like a burlap sack.
