Happens all the time. You screw up, you lose respect. One person's trash is another's gold. Glad he is well, though.
And to be honest, not sure we know the whole story on FFXIV. Was it his bad ideas, rushed, both? He could of left because he felt he was a scapegoat.

So now he just says he left because he is butthurt about being kicked off FFXIV.
I am probably one of the few that thinks Tanaka was dealt the crappy hand with the whole FFXIV deal. He's definitely not innocent in the whole affair but I feel like he was primarily scapegoated for the mistakes of higher ups. I'm looking forward to what he does in the future and I'm glad he's not gone from the industry.
I for one am never touching anything he is involved in again, unless magically it is really well received.
I would want to get paid too.
