The original frail forms of the Omicrons: were they perhaps chocobos like Alpha?

Actually not a bad shout, seeing as the only place we have seen chocobos roaming free on Etheirys is on Eorzea, the domans refer to them as horse birds in the ARR patches and that they appear to be absent on the first, the only other shard we have visited.

I could be wrong as I could have missed a quest on Elpis relating to them.

If I remember correctly, there are (or were) chocobos on the first, they just prefer amaro. Pretty sure npc told us that.

I believe that while Amaro are preferred for personal travel, presumably they're faster (or less smelly) or something, the chocobos are better at drawing carriages and so are kept for transporting goods.

Yes. There is even one in the first cutscene of Shadowbringers, when we arrived on the First...

Right, I completed forgot that. No surprise there though since my memory seems to be getting more holes lately...
