Elemental Materias, rework idea?
Inetead of having element materias give "element" resistance on the weapons, how about changing those stats to Potency on the weapons, so they do extra damage, and giving them more flavour?
I have yet to find even the most obscure use for element materias outside of Spiritbonding or Transmutation, so why not do something to increase your damage ever slightly more?
In a more detailed note, this is what I mean
Let's use Paladin's Thundercloud as an example.
Instead of having Lightning Resistance +14, it would have "Lightning Potency +14", and I don't mean exclusively Lightning aspected abilities like Thunder, but what it would do is, per example, the effect of Paladin's Sword Oath that adds a +50 potency every auto attack, exactly that, only the difference being that the potency affects also during skills. After all, Casters dont directly attack enemies, thus it would render them obsolete if they only affected Auto Attacks.
This doesnt mean make a separate materia, but the materia would change the attributed effect depending on where the meld is going to be, as in Main Hand/Off Hand or armor/acessory.
Determination tho, doesnt affect this kind of potency, but critical damage would.
What would you think of this idea?
