Simple request, bump up the weaponskill merits?

I understand it is in testing right now, and understand that nothing yet is final, however- I, as well as other players, do enjoy collecting all possible weapon skills that I can.

However that being said, the new system leaves me somewhat disappointed. I am also a main Samurai, and I try to at least maximize my great katana. The way new weapon skill merits leaves me one option- Maximize my great katana and miss out on several weapon skills, or learn all weapon skills and only get 2/5 GK merits done. Can we please have 20 merits to dump in this category instead? I hardly see that as game breaking, and would allow us to max out one weapon as well as learn all WS still, with only 2 spare points to play with after. That or the ability to learn all WS, and let these merits just boost the effectiveness.

I think the point is to choose the weapon skills based on your most used/preferred weapon and job. Wouldn't and doesn't make sense to merit a weapon skill that you well rarely, if ever, touch. From my understanding, you're able to max merits on three weapon skills. What I've been told anyway. That seems to be okay in my book.

    Personal opinion though.

it's all well and good if those wepons happen to be viable choices on other jobs....but what if two of your top 5 or so jobs are NIN and SAM? GK/Katana eats up 10 points, and you only have one more weapon to really specialize in, and that may only be the primary for just 1 of your other top jobs, even though it may be tertiary(sp) for others.

Seems kinda shortsighted to limit it to 15 with 20 jobs out there. Especially with the current state of the game. Not everyone sticks to just one class/style of play anymore--be that because of proc systems, or they have simply done all they can with their first batch of jobs and are now branching out and have come to enjoy more than just 2 or 3 jobs now. Some people actually do regularly play 2 or even 3 primary styles now (brawler, mage, tank, pet, stealth, ranged)--heaven forbid you actually enjoy a spread of 3 or 4 of these groups.

A thread about this already exists. I even posted a possible solution list there:

    • Thirty-four point limit - have an uneven amount that makes it clear that the intent is that players unlock all weapon skills and cap out five.
