    Issue with SMN

    Hello,

I would like to know if any work is being done to correct an issue where a monster will go unclaimed while killing it on the SMN job. This has been an issue with the game for some time. Occasionally the monster will go unclaimed after defeating an avatar without the SMN actually dying. The common method to solo things on smn involves kiting and resummoning many times. The act of the monster going unclaimed would normally not be an issue, but the player base is often untrustworthy. Just last night I lost a Briareus pop because of this issue. Never did I die, the mob had me on its hate list, and I even cast shock squall on it after it went unclaimed. It did not go back to red, thus allowing another player to steal it. Making this issue account for 2 hours of work within the game being lost so that a player undeserving of such rewards.

    One thought I had:

If you are unable to correct the issue where a player just being on the hate list does not keep the monster claimed, maybe you could atleast raise avatar enm so that the smn could cast more than one or two spells without stealing hate.

I have posted this here because I hope the unclaiming is a bug and not intentional. A SMN should not be penalized with unclaiming monsters because he is doing things the only way he can. You would not allow a nm to go unclaimed everytime a bst uses reward or a dnc evades a target would you?

Thank you for your time and please try to fix this issue or allow for people who steal nms during this time to be added to the player violation section. A game should not let bugs exist that cater to the low lifes that find their way into MMORPGs.

It's not an issue with just SMN. Was helping a friend with fistule the other day and we were holding bloodguzzler(sp) while waiting for it to pop. The person holding it decided to disengage from battle position and despite not even moving and still attacking her, the nm went into an unclaimed state.

It's safe to assume if you're not actively engaged with that NM over a set period of time or out of range while kiting, you will lose claim.

It's not a bug, any monster will go unclaimed after a few seconds if the player (including avatars) with hate disengages. You should be able to get claim back if you attack it again, be it with a melee attack or a spell/ability, I'm not sure why it didn't work in your case, maybe that actually is a bug.

Also, "disengaging" includes dying (equivalent to releasing an avatar), getting charmed or changing target.

Not saying this isn't severely retarded, but I doubt it's a bug. It's been brought to SE's attention plenty of times, but they've audaciously ignored it every single time, and I doubt this will be different.

I popped the notorious monster and began to kill it. After getting it down to around 67% it used the move Mercurial Strike and killed my partner. Afterward it hit my avatar (Ramuh) and killed it as well. At this point Briareus turned to come after me but went unclaimed. I was approximately 24 yalms away. I resummoned Ramuh and casted the move Shock Squall, but this did not make the monster go back to being claimed even though I observed the monster become stunned. At this point a monk near by chi blasted the mob and instantly claimed it.
