jp pol account and new payiment method (aka yet another topic about the SE account)

i know jp importer are a little part of the playerbase, but you can say we are the loyal fan that buy everything Square sell on the day one.

the problem is that i bought even the token on day 1, so i had to register a japanese SE account. no real problem until now.

now i cant unregister my SE account and im stick with a jp pol linked to a jp account.

yet no problem, i already used Click&buy to donate money for the earthquake...but...

surprise!!!

the CB option is gone...i can only pay with a credit card or buy crysta
but crysta can be bought only with a CC and webmoney

the real problem is that i cant use an european card (i currently live in italy) to pay or buy crysta so im stick with webmoney.

its not a real problem, i had to use webmoney since a long time.

but since you are talking about some fix to the billing system, please let consider two option

1) unlink a pol (i will lose the token this way but i dont care)
2) let us use a foreing credit card

if im mistaken and the option of cb is still there, please somebody say me where, i really cant find it.

From what I saw in the JP guide, C&B is not there. Guess they didn't feel the need to add it as JCB has their own version of the 3DS (Jsecure) on their accounts, and that is supported by their credit processor. SE probly just assumed someone in the JP area using a creidt card would at least one card supporting Jsecure/3DS.

Yeah... that's the downside to regional based CC processing. In theory JCB may be able to handle other regions with little/no issues because they do actually have footprints in almost 2 dozen other counties (even in a handful of states in the US), but there may be some limitations to that because of commerce laws. Also, no proof that SE is using JCB specifically, it's just a very likely candidate since they are kinda the "godfather" of credit brokering over there and they do mention JCB in their guides.

I think a more realistic scenario is that since credit card use in Japan is still scant, anyone who has any problems with a credit money would just buy WebMoney from their local convenience store.

I'd love to hear if JCB credit cards worked regardless (I've only used Visa and Mastercard for FFXI), even if they were issued in the US. I would definitely apply for one if so for my JP SE account, so I don't have to depend on my friend in Japan funding my gaming habit.

i dont really know much about jcb or other (lol and i work in/with bank everyday)
but i used my european credit card since a few years ago, then the card expired and i had to pass to webmoney cause they didnt accepted my new card even if the number was the same (just changed the expire date)

hmm.... it looks like they may be set up to get crysta directly thorugh JCB somehow:

Crysta" are Visa, MasterCard, personal authentication services for JCB (3D secure) credit card with you and to charge money on the web.

but they don't say specifically a JCB card in the help text for the direct pay option--just reference 3DSecure.

I'm in a similar situation and I've been trying to figure out ways to deal with this. Right now, I'm trying to contact the Japanese SE Support Center to ask if they can unlink my ID. Here's a link listing a lot of the actions I've taken so far.

I haven't gotten a response yet because the Center is likely off due to the weekend. I'm not too sure what to expect; the North American support center says they'll have no problem unlinking SEIDs and POL IDs, but the Japanese Support Center says they flat-out just don't do that. I'm wondering if this might change due to the current billing issues we're all going through due to the switch from POL-Based billing, so I'm sitting here crossing my fingers that they'll be able to help me.

Worst case scenario, they'll send me a snarky reply saying they don't approve of me making a Japanese account even though I'm American. Best case scenario, I may finally be able to link my account properly and continue playing the game I've supported for eight and a half years.

I seriously do love Final Fantasy XI. I've put up with this JP/NA monthly payment junk for eight years. If I didn't love the game, I wouldn't pay these prices. Now I've been hit with an impasse, and I'd like to see if there's anything they can do for me so I can keep playing their game.

Its seeming like they just wanted to wash their hands of the 3D secure thing since hardly anyone in the US seems to have 3D secure cards. Since everyone in Japan has them, they continue taking them that way.
