Abyssea End game shells and my thoughts and oppions about them

Exactly correct; end game doesn't exist any longer in FFXI.

Endgame is what you do at cap, it may not be what you consider endgame but that's what it is all the same.

Given the best way to keep MMO players happy is to target the casual audiences I would'nt be suprised if we get a lot more Abyssea and a lot less of what people used to consider endgame events.

To OP you just joined a stupid LS, they aren't all that bad. I'm amazed anyone would lot that stuff honestly, although they were nice to you to anyone that has done aby for a while and has better options they are just inv+1.

I've yet to meet a half competent shell that calls itself an Abyssea ls. There are Endgame shells that do Abyssea, but those aren't the same thing.

Abyssea is (currently) endgame, therefore abyssea ls = endgame LS. I would question that you've met many shells if you can't find one that's "half competent" (which has barely any meaning).

If you limit "abyssea LS" to groups of 3 people shouting for help to do XYZ NM, then maybe you have a point. But again, not every LS is like that.

All the items you're talking about are garbage, and any decent shell would be tossing them on the ground, consider yourself lucky to not be there anymore, and find a new LS.

Abyssea is midgame content. 90 is not the current terminal cap, 99 is. Our definition of Endgame shell and Abyssea shell thus differ. As far as my definition goes, an Endgame shell is one of the half dozen+ competent Endgame shells that existed before the advent of Abyssea and simply do Abyssea content now. An Abyssea shell is then a linkshell formed after the advent of Abyssea with the sole purpose of farming Abyssea.

The biggest difference between the two is the fact that pretty much any player on my server with an IQ greater than potato already had an Endgame shell before Abyssea came out. This leaves the people creating and joining these new shells as pretty much the server's resident rejects. Of course the shells are going to be crap.

This is outrageous! there were never bad Linkshells, Shady Linkshell Leaders, Greedy members, Whiny newbs before Abyssea! Abyssea ruins E'erthang.

Also, On a slightly more serious note! You may want to consider trying some Magian h2h weapons The STR ones are really good. Or you could try your hands at a good Savate fists if you ever did Dominion ops!

I've actually started a trial to get to my emperian hand weapon...but the snag i'm at is that blasted tumbling truffle just don't want to pop...i hate lottery spawns...-_-;

edit: it's the first of the many trials i have to do to work up to the emperian hands.

they may be garbage...but the phrase to me is"one person's junk is another person's treasure!" i'm not picky when it comes to upgrading my Fail Hand-to-hand weapon i am currently using.

I suspect we're not being told the whole story here. What exactly was the freelot axe you took? How many career WARs did you outlot? I doubt anyone in that shell wanted those h2h but they definitely wanted revenge. Greed lots from new members usually aren't received well and tend to result in that kind of behavior.

from what i've learned it was a junk Axe drop anyways. so it wasn't that valuable anyways. i'm still gonna use it when i lvl my war though.

This isn't exclusive to Abyssea - this is what happens when you play with a bunch of immature children. I don't see how this is even related to Abyssea.

This could have happened in Dynamis, or at a HNM.

Lotting stuff you have no use for (or can't equip immediately) is generally frowned upon unless absolutely no-one else needs it.

My advice would be to find a competent Linkshell, one with set and transparent distribution rules, then give Abyssea another whirl. You'll be missing out if you don't. (protip: Find a Linkshell with less than 10 people in it for best results.)

Repeating what others have pointed out already: If you have a few Dominion Notes, try going to Abyssea - Uleguerand and trade notes for augmented Savate Fists from the Dominion Tactician there.
