Part of the reason it works in WoW is that pet stats are weighed similarly to how player stats weighed, unlike pets in here where their stats are weighed in the same scale mob stats are. That's really the snag and I doubt the devs would want to rebalance all jug pets and add a function to nerf stats on charmed mobs to work with a system where player pets can receive buffs.
Would be awesome if it happened, though.
