Xbox has it's own set of issues too. Got to PC--use a USB converter for your old console controller, or get a new USB one for the PC. Then, once everyone is off consoles...guess what, only one platform to program too because DirectX uses one set of intermediate API's that is consistent across all 3 flavors of Winblows (provided you stay in the one DirectX release, like DX9)--just have to program to that one set of API's.
Fully compliant DirectX9 game for all = WIN

I just find it if it get in the way of progress then it should be discontiue and moved to a system that will benifit that progress not stop it imo.

screw GAYBOX 360 so hard, i can play for free on PS2, while i bet XBOX 360 gonna make me pay a fee to even connect the stupid thing online, for gay hole xbox live BS. thats why im on PS2 still, but im on PS2 and PC, and only switch to PS2 when the wife wants to play WoW or some garbage.

I play for free on my Xbox and my PC. It only requires a silver account to get online to play FFXI.

PC vs. Xbox 360 vs. PS2 thread (how many of these have i seen in my life about ffxi?).
I personally have all 3 systems (and a PS3). I do not have the ps2 version of ffxi however.
Let me break this down: There's no reason to still be playing the ps2 version. The op is completely correct on this point. However, if you're going to move to another system, PC would be your best bet for overall improved performance. The problem here is switching from controller to keyboard.
If you can't handle the change to a keyboard there are 2 solutions.
1) Don't go to the PC version, go the Xbox 360 version. Yes, the controller will still take getting used to, as it varies greatly from the playstation controller but it'll be easier to adapt than switching from controller to keyboard.
2) Buy a gamepad. I don't believe I've seen a gamepad in quite some time that is modeled after a playstation controller so you may have so trouble finding one. The alternative is one modeled after a xbox 360 controller (that's what I have, the madcatz wired xbox 360 controller since microsoft themselves have stopped producing wired controllers completely).
Other than these minor issues with switching from ps2 to another system, it also depends on your situation. In some cases, getting a xbox 360 will be significantly cheaper than buying a brand new computer or upgrading the one you currently have (if yours is horribly out of date). Experience differs from person to person regarding the xbox 360's ability to stay connected and not lag (I personally found it's connectivity better than my PC at the time [i've since gotten a much newer and faster computer and internet connection, so has likely drastically changed in the months I have been gone]).
All I can say, either way, getting off the PS2 is highly recommended, for everyone's sake. There is absolutely no reason to continue playing on it. I've gone back and forth from PC and Xbox 360 over the years, they both work fine. They both have their ups and downs, pros and cons, but each of them, from what i've seen, are vastly superior to the ps2 version, in every way.(0)

Logitech makes controllers that are shaped like a PS2 controller for either $9.99 or $19.99, I forget how much I paid for mine. Apparently, you can also use a PS3 controller on a PC, I don't recall if it's wired only or via bluetooth.

They should probably like i said make a pc xbox server only and you can get better graphics better abilities etc. Yes xbox is gross but they have more potential then ps2 due to not that bad of space limitations . . . . .

3a. Bury the ashes in your backyard, or whereever it would want to rest in peace.
3b. Buy a gamepad/xbox 360 controller to play with on PC/Laptop
4. Log on the game
5. Play it, join the " omfg ps2 limitations sucks " movement on x gaming forum
6. Realize how ignorant you have been for the past few years for not doing this sooner.
