That would be a good reply if it wasn't for the fact the US is like 30X the size of Japan. So stating the fact the US experienced these they could be spread acrossed the whole country, while Japans may have been acrossed the whole country, the country is only the size of California. And to the question about how many they have normally I do not know. And for the fact you did not see the pattern shows me you do not understand seismology, not being rude just stating a fact.
