It's quite unpleasant to read some of the selfish comments in regards to how NA players are feeling they are suffering for the tradegy of one Country. Of course Japan did not shut servers down due to Hurricane Katrina. You have to remember they are a much smaller country then we are & Hurricane Katrina effected the South Eastern Coast. In the US almost every state has a major source of energy that it feeds from & I do not think any nuclear reactors exploded when that Hurricane hit (least I think). One thing great about the US is we are actively working on getting people back up an going after a major incident. However in respect to the home nation of the Company who developed XI I would think we as players could put aside our selfish comments & be more understanding to the reason that SE is cooperating with the Japanese Government & is willing to do anything to help. Remember we are not an American Game developed to be played worldwide like wow is (because wow invested the money to hosting servers globally, & I am sure they are paying a nice amount to do so). I am sure it would be very costly for SE a company dependant on serveral franchise for income (and is not as well financed as Activision, remember the company that formerly owned blizzard was bought out by Activision) thought it best not to invest the money on global servers especially during this economy.
To those of you who find it crazy, unfair of SE, & are genuinely upset about not playing a game (in which if you see the positive you are not paying for April's service), I hope you feel better tonight knowing that Thousands of Lives were lost this past week. Several Hundred are still missing & there are Americans with family in Japan who have not even heard a word if their loved ones are ok, but yes SE please keep your servers running so you can playing you MMO & screw saving power to keep the hospitals going, I need abbysea tonight!
