Why won't pet jobs support each other?

We have plenty of normal jobs that have support abilities for other normal jobs.

    - Cover, to protect another player.
    - Warcry, to enhance attack of fellow players.
    - Shell V, to protect others from magic.
    and so on.

Pets on the other hand doesn't seem to have much of these things at all. It would be a little more interesting if pet jobs had abilities to use together with other pet jobs.

    Examples:

    - Astral Decoy (SMN)
Takes hate from another pet and puts on avatar. Useful for saving a friends jug pet or automaton from death, while the avatar is expendable.

    - Lord of the Pets (BST)
Like a commander to his army, you give strict commands that every pet in range will follow. Resulting in all pets in range getting a 10% attack bonus.

    - Dance of Calebra (PUP)
Gives increased motivation and vigor to pets. +25 TP to automatons, -5 BP timer to SMNs, +1 charge to sic.

While one could say this would just widen the gap between normal parties and pet parties, I feel like it would be more fitting in general if pet related jobs had ways to help fellow pet jobs.

What would happen when the avatar is dead? Oh right, the pet you stole hate from will just die anyway.

18 alliance BST zergs anyone? Everyone spamming that and all the sudden, you got rage on 18 pets, which is a little broken. Also, can cause a lot of butthurt if another's BST decides what your pet will or won't do.

I guess it is hard for you to cap BP-, so you would need something like this. Also, in case you didn't know, Automations don't use TP moves at 100%, so having an additional +25 TP won't automatically make them use their TP move any faster. And jug pets are limited by the 2 minute timer on Sic, not the charges, so that won't work either.

You have no idea what makes pet jobs so great....so I'll spell it out for you. Solo. S-O-L-O. Meaning you don't have to be in a party. But since you abyssea burned your jobs, you wouldn't know that, I guess.

I strongly suggest that you play the job before making recommendations for said jobs.

Also, I noticed you are missing a key pet job...I'll let you figure out which one it is...

Let's say you're an astral being made out of wind or ice or whatnot. Would you want to do any favors for a giant mobile fungus who ate dirt?

I don't think so. You'd be more likely to worry what base activities that disgusting thing is being discrete about.

The fickle personalities of things made out of water or rocks aside, this is a neat idea but I can't see it being that useful. Such abilities would be helpful in the right situations, but those situations don't crop up much for most folks.

    Since when?

Anyway, pet jobs don't provide any support of this sort due to balance issues. I don't really see it happening due to SE's overly cautious approach to balance with pet jobs.

Pet jobs.... support each other? Support skills like those aren't necessary cause each pet job plays vastly different. I can't see how one pet job can legitimately receive help from another giving the differences between animals, avatars, and automatons. It's just... weird.

Ah, as for BP reduction, you can easily knock off BP delay by -15 with the +2 trial staves and YY robe alone. (if you can pull out the dedication to get them.)

I think the general idea of pet jobs is that each master has exclusive control over his or her own pet; no one else can tell your pet what to do. Enmity shifts can occur between master and pet only.

Pets can buff party members, but not vice-versa, with Corsair being the exception. Avatars can do Hastega, Stoneskinga, etc, and Automatons are able to cure party party members--let's count that as buffing. Beastmaster pets are also able to cure party members with Wild Carrot. Player buffs, on the other hand, do not hit pets. When Corsair does a pet buff roll, it hits pets, and only pets. So the real issue is,"Why is it a one way street? Why don't all buffs hit all party members, pets and players alike?"

Imagine a party with 5 pet jobs and Bard. Now pretend that the buffs hit everyone. Instead of having just 5 targets hit with double March or Minuet, instead it's 10! Even if there were only 4 pet jobs, 8 targets would get.

The game is balanced in a certain way, and this is why buffs go in one way direction.

I'm all for new threads and discussions, but I think this falls under the "out there" category that changes things too much.

COR has some pretty potent pet buffs...

Although I like the idea of SMNs being able to buff eachother's pets. Let's be honest I don't think there's a way to make SMN OP.
