If it reduces grudge, I don't know. Just took one for 3767.
Is it an ability, job trait, or what?
Maybe it nullifies tonberry hate gain when killing them? Could also be tied to Blue Magic.
Haven't tested blu yet and I dont' rest my hate, so testing hate gain would be hard for me.
Well, Could be a boost to Everyone's Grudge (BLU Spell) based on your tonberry Hate. Seems sorta-likely.
best bet, Use Grudge nakid on a lv0 mob outside starters, then equip neck and do it again, see if theres any difference.
If not, We'll have to start testing other venues.
this would be my bet, since they just changed the CFH system too.Quote:

Resetting tonberry hate is no fun! I've never reset mine, and I kinda like the game of russian roulette that is fighting tonberries. Luckily, it's not been an issue while doing anything important, and I hope it never does become a problem. :(
If fact, I'm going to go out and kill 20ish tonberries first thing when i log on later!
How would testing hate gain be hard, even without resetting hate? Go get hit by grudge, hp, go back, kill some tonberries (keep track of how many you kill) and then get hit by grudge again. Calculate the difference in damage per kill. I don't remember if it is affected by shell / mdt / mdb gear, so it'd be best to not use that.
Or, for less dying, have a pet get hit by grudge instead of you.
I actually would love to know what this thing did myself, but I can't even begin to puzzle out what it might do at the moment.. I wish SE weren't so damn vague about their items sometimes.
Has anyone figured out rancor collar yet?
lul, Yes
It increases your Critical hit Rate by 0~5% (Based on Tonberry hate0
and increases your Damage Taken by 0~10% (based on Tonberry Hate).
This much is confirmed, could be more, dunno.
If i remember right..... WAR, DRG, THF, NIN... I'm forgetting some. Either way Damage Taken +10% Is not as wtf-im-going-to-die as it sounds, Especially in Abyssea.
In voidwatch or something, IDK, Good WHMs can still keep up so long as its not something that runs a real risk of One-shotting you. MNK/PUP get better use of Faith Torque so long as it bumps them up a DMG level i think.
Pretty good WS neck for Multi-hit Crit Ws's too, Like Evisceration, Stringing Pummel, etc.
It's definitely a "Use at your own risk" item as some mobs that have HP Critical moves could become insta-KOs thanks to the DT%+. For common fodder, it's probably a non-issue, especially if you have a WHM backing you.
I don't know about WAR. I rather keep my Ravager's Gorget. And I have a Snow/Breeze Gorget for WS, so its not like I need one for that either.
As for the +10% Damage inside Abyssea, yeah, I agree with you, outside Abyssea is another factor though. That's like asking a DRK to full time Plastron set. I get hate too quickly inside and outside of Abyssea to shadow tank or Seigan/Third Eye tank, and adding more damage to myself while increasing my crit rate by a minimal amount (I already have 50%+ crit rate inside abyssea, adding +5% isn't that much tbh) isn't worth it to me.

Crit +5% might prove more useful for Consistency, and as a better WS neck at least outside Abyssea where you will need more Crit+ Gear than you would need inside.
for TP, eeeehhhh.... STR+something Dbl.Atk+2 vs 5Crit rate... I don't know enough to make a good estimate on that.
Rancor is better than Empyrean Gorget (for TP, ignoring needing STP option) and Sea Gorgets for War, assuming RR or Ukko's iirc and you're not inside abyssea with BR up (assuming Ukko's).
I use it for weaponskills and in my "Marches and Haste" TP set on Dancer.
Given for exp mobs(most jobs, if not, all), w/ a 70+% counter rate, only a handful of mobs I wouldn't use this against
I use Rancor Collar in a few TP sets for NIN and WAR, and I use it for Ukkos all the time, and Blade Hi outside abyssea.
Considering that I have 0 tonberry hate, I think it is safe to say that for me, Ravager's Gorget > Rancor Collar.
I don't plan on maxing out my hate for this either, because I'm sure that something a lot better will come out between 90-99 gear.
Also, I have 4/5 WAR +2 for my TP set and the gorget will help a lot in trying to proc the set.
I'll still take +5% crit hit rate :x
Just agree to disagree then, lol.
I figured he meant that, but i wasn't 100% sure be clearer because you were pretty vague(even though i have the gorget, oops saving face feel free to take shots at my screw up!).
I think any WAR would know how to proc the AF+2 set bonus by now tbh.
Nothing vague about that. I expected you to know your job, that's all.
Rancor Collar (and I believe, though I'd have to check again Wivre w/+2crit) are better than Faith for MNK
Anyway, a neckpiece with 5acc 5%crithit is unheard of, and is easily the best TP/WS piece for every job given it's a good situation to use it in (eg, not tanking/taking crit hp moves) or you aren't capped crit% already or super close (nin may be an exception)
Will something better come out? Probably. Is something better out now? No.
That should be all anyone needs to motivate them to get one.
Didnt think it would outdo the increase to base damage on mnk. Also figured it wouldnt be as good with impetus but I guess maybe for impetus down?
My math doesn't support that but I could easily be wrong. Rancor doesn't appear to be vastly superior to Faith, unless you are the type of person who considers 0.5-2% increases vastly superior
Actually, that's probably not true.
It's goofy, etc, but so far all set bonuses that "Augment" an existing job trait have been shown to be independent of the job trait's proc rate (or in this case, seem to proc after it). Stacking more DA actually gets you fewer augmented DAs, but your augmented DA rate is likely on top of your existing DA rate (so you're gaining both TP gain and damage when you use the set). This also may explain why the set bonus doesn't proc on WS. It's not actually DA, it's "doubled damage OAT."
I can still count the number of times I've observed WAR set bonus kicking in on one hand. Kinda sucks.
Extra kick likes to get in the fray tho
