I saw my Valoredge get a ruby from a Shield Bash kill. Strange.
shield bash always gived ruby...seems ruby come not only from ws kill but special attack too....but there arent so much ja that deal big amount of damage...
Which zones are you in, i didnt get any in tarhongi or la thiene.
I noticed a few strange things with killshots and lights in gerneral.
Here is an example.
In abyssea we were fighting Cockatrice in Altep and someone had gotten a ruby light and our BRD was Meleing, It said he gotten the killshot along with the rubylight.
He never Weaponskilled but however our SAM had Created Darkness for 2k and it never registered that the SAM actually killed it.
Another example, one of our MNKs was fighting Fogs and he Weaponskilled and right as he did he got an Azure light, he got the killshot but I noticed that there was a BLM behind him who Nuked it with Blizzard V.
I am starting to think the the killshots are not accurate and its causing some confusion.
I was in Grauberg [A] and my sharpshot frame kept getting ruby with just ranged attack, not weaponskill. Hopefully SE will fix this issue, sad I cant use anything but mage in there now :(
um why not? When i go to abyssea i sit at 200 pearlescent 255 ruby 128~150 azure and 200+ minutes. If someone is saying no ruby, then they are clueless and losing out on a lot of exp (gold and ebon light)
The rule of thumb, typically, is to get to 200+ minutes after capping Azure, then you can cap Ruby. Its just a lot of people come to EXP parties without stones so they cry and demand that you cap Azure for TEs first -- even though most people have 100+ stones just from the fact you seldom actually need them.
Its just people being needy/lazy.
If I'm looking at time of 200+ minutes and we don't have ruby for some reason, I usually leave.
Side note, technically Weapon Skills are special attacks, so it doesn't surprise me that, since just about everything outside of melee and Casting the Automaton does is considered a special attack, you'd get Ruby from a ranged attack.
A party that denies Ruby is a party I'm going to leave ASAP. Playing solo, and depending on your skill level, sure, if you kill slow you should first focus on azure and pearl. But in a party? Just go apeshit on mobs until eveything is capped. If mages are smart, and snipe kills (easy to do with 5k spells) Azure will come first usually, anyway.
Speaking of weird lights i once got an amber light while killing with my pup, the only weird thing that happened is that pacotille was using Flashbulb while i delivered the final hit ( regular h2h no ws)
