Port Jeuno congestion

Since Phoenix got merged with Titan, Port Jeuno has become very congested to the point where I can't log in my char that is logged out in Port Jeuno. I can log on my alt and I see 746 people in Port Jeuno which is over the max I believe so the game just hangs at the downloading data screen.

Can something be done about this? Not being able to log in because of this is a problem.

you just have to wait till it calms down, was the same on my server last year in WG after the merge. Died down after a few days.

But it wont likely die down as 90% of people (100% of windurstians) are going to keep their homepoint in port jeuno so they can here shouts.

Should just combine shout channels for port and lower jeuno, then put another warper there. It's strange that they didn't think of this themselves. It seems like a pretty obvious fix.

Shouts are within a limited range though, I don't think the current system would allow for multi-zone shouting.

They could add a new chat channel, say, party, ls, shout and global. Global heard in all cities, this would totally remove the need to huddle in one area and cause congestion. Having said that ofc maybe they do it by design to give a crowded city area.

I'm stuck. GMs know about it but, they do nothing about it. Sooo. I got the new update Ran to uperjen then. BAAAAAM! All I get now when I log in with my High Lv jobs and all the items I got. I get a black screen with downloading data. 3 min pass then pops a FFXI-3001 Hit OK the Shutdown. Now I don't know why and there are ppl out there that may know how to get out. Well in time I'll get it. and when I do it will be like it never happen. Till then I'm STUCK.

If a new /city chat channel is out of the question, then SE needs to add teleportation NPCs in all major cites to facilitate fast, easy, and cheap travel to Jeuno. I refuse to set my HP outside of Jeuno until this is done, and I'm a guy who would prefer to use the ol' Windurst Woods Home Point.

Asura did not experience a merge, but I think people transfer daily to Asura just to AFK in our Port Jeuno. FFXI locked up on the Downloading Data screen each and every time I warped back to Port Jeuno this past Saturday. 700+ people in zone all day long.

I just think I would be Cool if GMs Agen. Warp all the AFK from Jeuno to a more. Lets see where to. Show them that sometimes AFKing for long time is not the way to spend $12.95 + $1.00 mule. Need to pop at IT at Lv90. hmmm the thinks I can do with nonparty warp. Now where was I. OOO yeah afk suck....

if its possible SE should implement a way to "shout" in an area where you are not in or view shouts in an area you are not it.
ie. you like chilling in bastok markets, you want to see what shouts are in PJ /sea all /shouts port jeuno...
ie. you are in Abyssea (something) need reps, /shout port jeuno blah blah 15/18 dds welcome....
something like that would help with the crowdedness of PJ. probably not possible but i can dream lol

Maybe the home point crystals could be coded to "echo" shouts from one zone to another. The home point in jeuno could repeat whatever you shouted at the home point in say bastok, as if you were standing at the home point in jeuno.

First weekend since merge and port jeuno hitting the 700 cap again. lol

SE really needs to add an LS-Like channel or channels. I think that one channel for the entire server would be too spammy to be practical for players, let alone the kind of toll it would take on the server itself.

Whatever divisions they are able to make, be it by region, or by super-area (one for ToAU Regions, another for Conquest Areas), or by activity-type, etc... there need to be as few divisions as possible,so that players don't have to switch through dozens of channels to get something off the ground.

Really, we need to hear from the Devs what can be done. Hello Devs, can you hear me?

Just tried to zone into Port Jeuno. Stuck downloading data every time i try to log in

It is impossible to get into Port Jeuno now, at the point where we are getting system messages telling players to leave Port Jeuno. Also, Port Jeuno is a very small zone which is incredibly crowded.

it would help a bit, if SE makes a traverser stone + maw warp npc in every home nation (or are there some already?).
then i would never need to enter port jeuno again, except for orbs for xNMs.

That's been done in this update, but it doesn't solve the problem fully. People still go to Port Jeuno for shouts, etc.

Personally, I would suggest a special "linkshell" (not really, just using the word loosely) that is "given" everyone (again, loosely), that would be a global chat, and would fit to the lore.

well bazaar tax again for port jeuno,i guess this would remove the 50-100 ppl bazaaring there. sauromarket wtf ^^.

Right, which can be an option to turn on and off. So I would probably expect even less, or maybe some sort of a restriction system, like a long delay and chat again. There's a number of way to deal with global chat and over 4K people online at once.

or split it, into missions, NMs, crafting/items, xNMs

Could always put Horst and Joachim out in Rolanberry Fields where the bazaar folks used to be. Give them a tent so they don't melt when it rains.:) A global chat is also a good idea as long as we have a filter to turn it off when it becomes too annoying.

A Global like chat could work, if they just put it in the zones where the Abyssea NPCs are. Since it sounds like the main concern with people is not being able to hear shouts, if they were to add a "global chat" to Port Jeuno, Heaven's Tower, Choco Track, Port Bastok Port Sandoria, and Port Windy, then people may be more willing to use those zones.

Another thought that comes to mind would be a Post Board, where a person could put up to 1 seek request which could be viewed within the above zones mentioned earlier. The person can then send the tell to the person in question and maybe that would help if a global chat couldn't be implemented. While that would leave it open to potentially people "Spamming" it with useless info it would be limited by only allowing a person to "seek" one request at a time.

Probably wouldn't take much of a toll. A chat server wouldn't have much trouble dealing with 2000 users at a time. Impractical, however, it would probably be. That's why I think a region wide shout channel would be better. Or maybe a special type of shout that extended from the zone you're in and to all neighbouring zones.

A lot of people afk in jeuno because of the shouts. If se made a city wide shout channel and added the ability to Inc someone to party anywhere in the game world I would hardly if ever go to jeuno.

I have the same issue any time i log or zone into port jueno. Plus they made it where yuou have to do synergy in port since they removed the ones in upper jueno. (which only makes it worse since everyone is making the new agmented sky stuff).
I did make a thread awile ago about shouts revamped. Doing this would let people be off doing there own thing not sitting in a zone congesting it. Giving the freedom to people to go and do w/e they choose and still be conected with the rest of the world. Thus eazing the issue of congestion. ..... but i can never get a moderator or anyone take up my idea. Hopefuly with everyone always being stuck in port jueno they will see this as a way of dealing with the issue and implement something with it.

This is really easy to fix SE needs a server City Chat channel which would be viewed in any town. You type /c to talk in it. If you did not want to see it you could filter it.

That way people could set up groups for stuff and not have to be in port jeuno. You could be looking for activites in any town.

Additional abyssea NPCs is not a solution to jeuno congestion. SE, you need to reinstate bazaar tax. This will move then aprox. 30% mule population from port jeuno back out into the rolenberry fields exit.

Better have a setting to auto-off when I leave town (on/off/auto <- 3 settings). The whole global chat thing has come up before.

I think they'd go to Sauro first in this scenario and that still wouldn't really get the real problem fixed which is all the non-bazaar people eye ballin Horst and Joachim for no reason, waiting for a shout that is never gonna happen.

It would still remove a good number of people, even if it doesn't address the reason why the majority are there. Reducing congestion is unlikely to come from just one change, but could come from a series of smaller ones, including bazaar tax, global chat channels, and additional abyssea NPCs.

Also, if they are worried about a ton of spam in those channels, just put a limit on how many lines you can do over 60 seconds.

I wouldn't really want another channel where long, stupid arguments are being held when all I really want to see in it is shouts for various events. Having those in /shout is enough.

Not hating on people talking casually in /sh, I just don't want it in yet another channel, and even less in a channel that is region/worldwide.

Saturday night Port Jeuno is full again. Really should set my HP somewhere else.
