getting petrified for 1~1:30 min is no fun
getting petrified for 1~1:30 min is no fun
Actually, why are there two types of Petrify?
The player version is just basically a "Earth-based" Sleep.
The mob version is just basically a "Earth-based" Terror.
Have one or the other, not both.
Um... petrify is hardly certain death. That's all I have to say on this.
Sometimes you can go on an evasion streak and still not die. Use to solo the Tier 2 VNM in abyssea attowah, likes to use brakega. However often I wouldn't even die when it went off, since it would just miss me till it wore off.
Debating whether I should put Hordecore on block list or not. Sad to say that all his whiny demands for SE to "fix" every little thing he sees as an inconvenience are really annoying me. And if you don't know what I'm talking about then just do a search on all topics started by him.
Never seen the T2 in Attohwa cast Breakga, only single target Break.
They screwed up bind a long time ago as well. I used to have fun with that on rdm and blm. *get hate* > *bind the mob in place* > *let the melee's beat the hell out of it till it's off you* Now petri and bind are cookie cutter versions of each other with the first lasting longer than the second.
Kinda curious did hordecore get banned for a while or something? It's been a while since he's spammed his two random thoughts for the day.
There's also everyone's favorite campaign mob, Gi'Ghi Rockchopper who seems to have the uncanny ability to chain-breakga for insane range while perpetually having 2 pets capable of inflicting you with Calcifying Mist for yet even more stoner fun of the non-cannabis variety. Now I have the munchies.
I need clarification:
To nerf petrified, you mean to banned all [A] n00b who started the game 2 days ago and got 3 level 90 jobs and always afk/petrified in an exp pt or the magic petrify?
True true, sorry I overlooked that aspect. I just miss the days of binding a sleeping mob then nuking the piss out of him before it wore off. I quit blm years ago, came back during the abyssea add ons. I noticed the gimp to bind, got my hopes up for break, then got disappointed again when I saw it wore off in a similar fashion.
While this is Correct for Baleful Gaze from lizards, Level 5 Petrify is not a gaze attack, so turning would not prevent it.
However, there are exceptions to the Baleful gaze, "Baleful gaze" from Cockatrice is near instant, unless you're already turning/turned around when it readies it (Thanks to lovely game lag) you're always going to be hit, which it crap.
However, I will say, If we were to "nerf" Petrify, I would like it simply to be similar to player petrify, make it to where getting hit has a small chance to "break" petrify. Would be nice, not needed, but nice.
How in the world would I have fun MPK'ing my LS in Dynamis-Bastok? On that first Beastmaster pull, I get my Diaga nice and ready...
So you object to petrify while soloing but you're ok with paralyze?
Mob casts petrify: Players cannot move or act and can be beaten to within an inch of their life and there is little they can do about it until the effect wears off.
I cast Break: If I blink wrong the effect has worn off and the mob recovers. This is more than annoying, it's dumb. This means Break doesnt last as long as sleep, doesnt pull off as quickly as stun (which I sometimes use it for when solo'ing) and is generally broken (for players at least). Why would Square completely ruin the spell for players? Even if it gave you free reign to beat the mob for 10 seconds, thats at least somewhat helpful. The way it is now feels kind of useless. How about if they un-nerf Break and make it more like Petrify?
My initial idea of break was it would petrify for a minute or so, but the mob would get like a 95% damage reduction, if not outright immune.
The only problem I have with that is the fact that when a player is petrified they recieve no such benefit. I understand that mobs get spells that are 'tweeked', but Break cast by a player and Break cast by a mob are completely different spells. What they should do is give it a bit lower of a success rate (mabye, I dont think I have ever resisted a Breakga or had it not take effect) and a shorter window of effect, but give it THE SAME effect. The mob should not be able to move, act or respond in any way and we should get time to beat down on it. Heck, even 5 seconds is enough to give a player/party an advantage, if well placed, but wont win the fight.
Atma of the Horned Beast = Resist Petrify : sup and it reduces the chance to get petrified ALOT
so [To the poster] The devs have already nerfed petrify if ya get that atma.
PS not all soloers have ur problem i can use titan who is immue to it when/if i solo
if player break couldn't be broken. u could just keep every mob petrified. and this makes the game a lot easier / boring as it is since abyssea anyway.
Titan is not immune, just have a very very very high resist. Like 95% resist rate.
Garuda too, she has a very high resist rate. 95% too.
But you need to take into effect that some "Break" TP moves aren't earth based either. Level 5 Petrify is dark based, but its 100% accurate to anything that has a 0 or 5 on the end of its level. Not even Resist Petrify is immune to it. Titan and Garuda both become petrified (although they get out of it a lot quicker than anyone) with that ability.
That's why I suggested a lower success rate for player casting. Also, with a long enough recast timer, you wouldnt have to worry about someone spamming the spell too quickly. So unless you have a party full of RMD's I don't think it would be much of a problem. Like I said, 10 seconds is long enough to make it or break it (no pun intended) only if the spell is used tactically. Using it right at the beginning of a fight on a fresh mob would be pointless. Using it more like a stun or a chance to give healers to cure a badly wounded tank would be much more effective.
