The game was better off without it.
Oh you!
-----------
someone should do a new topic named : Get rid of Rog.
Content: The game was better off without it.
cool story, bro!
In before thread delete!
i agree with OP
Get rid of Rog, the game was better off without it.
Oh wait, we already have a topic for that...
No one is forcing you or anyone to participate in abyssea. If you wish to stay 75 then you can. If you wish not to have any gear from abyssea, feel free. If you wish to take a long time to level your jobs, FOV is there for you to solo. Have at it. No one is stopping you or anyone else that feels the same.
Arrrrrrrrr ya got one.
Umm ok?
Care to tell us why exacly?
Get rid of abyssea and relics!!! make everyone do cop dynamis the old way for all items in teh game and lvl sync in vulkurm for exp forever!!!!
Don't mind him, he's just trolling. If he could marry Abyssea he would.
But there is no one else who wants to do anything other than abyssea with me. Am i just supposed to solo everything? That does not seem very fun. As long as abyssea is in the game, no one will want to play the game the right way (by not using abyssea), because it is so easy in abyssea.
I think they should remove levels 30-75 from the game entir..... oh wait.
The funny thing is, it would have seemed like a totally outlandish idea 2 years ago.
To Rog,
It's "so easy" everywhere. Just because people don't share YOUR idea of how the game is supposed to be played doesn't make it the wrong way. People don't go camp Faffles anymore because the gear he drops is incredibly obsolete. Kirin is a thing of the past to a lesser extent because the only thing REMOTELY useful from him anymore is W Legs, and even still, that's debatable. Nyzul/Salvage/Limbus/Dynamis/Einherjar/InsertAnythingRelevantHere just doesn't have the same time in to reward out ratio that it used to have. There's just no incentive to do old school things anymore
Getting rid of Abyssea will just return this game to the boring waste of time it was during the Wings of the Goddess era. Waiting 6 months to a year before getting any sort of content update, having the OHMYGODBESTGEAREVAR without any real sense of accomplishment (not that Abyssea is much different), and a disappearing player-base.
Times have changed, either get with them, or move on to bigger and better things.

Bored Rog? xD Bad, bad kid! To bed without dinner!
I dunno I think this thread has shed light upon the fastest way to find like minded people, and then be a douche to them.
To me abyssea has greatly reduced the time to level a job up so you can spend more time focusing on gear. I still see shouts for Divine Might, Nysle Isle, and other such events (thou rare). If you are looking for something outside of abyssea go do it. Most things are done low man. I think the problem some people have is they were to busy stepping all over people to get gear in EG events that they no longer have friends to help them. Now it's the nice people that have friends that are able to obtain better gear low man. Personally I like the change. I was on the verg of quitting before abyssea and am ecstatic with the way things are going.
Keep up the good work SE!
So you think we should just forget about the last 8 years of the game? Real ffxi cannot be played without fafnir, or kirin. They are essential parts of the game. And of course the game was meant to be played at level 75. For 8 years, it was designed around level 75. Changing that now simply is not right, and ruins the original game.
Getting the best gear is supposed to be hard. What sense of accomplishment do you have if you can get all the best gear, including empyrean weapons, etc, in a few days? We need to go back to the challenges of getting things like adaberk, ridill, etc. We shouldn't just have everything handed to us on a golden platter.
game was never hard, time doesn't equal challenge, etc.
This isn't just about exp! Yes, grinding exp for months per job was part of the real ffxi experience, but so was camping hnms for 3-48 hours, just to watch a rival shell get claim. So was wiping to the death house in windhurst, because someone decided to autorun past. So was dieing repeatedly to trains in garlaige citadel. All of these things were important to really, truly enjoying ffxi. The game simply is not the same without all of these wonderful features.
If you think wasting weeks upon weeks of Ground HNM camping is real accomplishment, you have messed up priorities.
This goes for Salvage people who claim to have spent years to get their 35's too before they patched the droprates. That's just insane for something to drop. I don't mind taking a while to get something, but to spend probably more than a year for something to get is just not right.
While we are reminiscing about the good old days, the recent discussion about the lack of low level gear on the Auction House has also made me realize the error of our ways in wanting gear to be freely available. It's clear now that the Auction House should meet the same fate as Saddam Hussein and be removed from the face of Vana'Diel like a giant scab. This will allow players to craft all their own gear, or have their friends craft it for them, the way god intended.
Also, man did not evolve from apes.
Salvage gear may be outdated somewhat now but with the adjustments there, myself got my Morrigan's Robe in less than a week.
Hopefully they will making them upgradble in the future to Lv99 gear or something.
Real Life.
Video Game.
There's a difference, bro.
EDIT:
I should also add that if I wanted to spend months or years on gaining something in this game, it had better break the damn game and turn me into a god. That's why I humbly applaud those who have spent so many dynamis runs getting their relics. HNM loot can rot in obsoleteness.
It's more like this, I think: Different people enjoy the different types of challenges the game has offered.
When things take a long time to accomplish, eg level grinding, players prefer that the rest of their party know how to play their jobs effectively, so said grinding can happen as quickly as possible within the game mechanics. Some people didn't like it, so they created ways of playing that violated the terms of service and stepped on the people willing to play the game as intended. It's like playing chess and deciding to make the Rook move just like the Queen. Or (taken from a "Roundhouse" skit) saying that scissors beats rock because they're super powerful indestructible scissors with rock crushing laser tips.
Personally, I prefer the game's goals require some effort instead of the relative "no thinking" style of "World of Warcraft". It's like "Resident Evil 5": in multiplayer, you have next to no worry about death, because you can give each other adreneline injections ad infinitum.
Now someone who hardly knows what they're doing can make Lv90 with a job by being a key-junkie in Abyssea. I understand the irritation.
The flip side:
Each player still has to accomplish all of the genkai breaks; which includes the fight with Maat.
Some people play games to get away from life; not to have it mimick the difficulties of it. FFXIII disappoints similarly, in that you don't have to know what you're doing to get through the battles and finish the story line.
The point is: The players themselves now provide the extra difficulty. Make friends with the people who are like-minded. For some of us, this means quite a lot of combing. It doesn't mean that the game is now without challenge.
FFXIII has a complex system that still encourages players to finish a battle as quickly as possible. What it does, is -not punish- those who don't. You could say that the game is without extra reward, but that is materialistic. There are still bosses who will defeat you if you do not play effectively.
Each of the FF games provides weapons that are difficult to acquire that are eventually made obsolete. FFXI follows different rules, though; and it starts with the fact that they want people to continue playing it. A one-off like the rest of them simply don't get the same attention.
Way to go rog they suspect nothing keep up the good work.
I think it is funny people are actually arguing with rog. Trolling to the max... again.
So? Just because it is a video game does not mean you should not be challenged. Having challenges is a good thing. And when you finally get that ridill, or salvage body, or duelist's chapeau, etc, it's going to feel that much better because you know you overcame the obstacles, and defied the odds, and bested a very difficult challenge.
Just because most people were, does that mean we should force the change on everyone else, regardless of whether or not they want the game to change? Because that is what has happened.Quote:
That's the "fault" of growing in levels. Most gear has been trumped by af3 and items found in abyssea. Most people were ready for a change from the same events.
What whole did you crawl out of? Id say take your flat earth way of thinking to another post and get back on track about how ABBY is killing the game we as longtime players loved.
I say this. If the OLD way as we have been marking it, was wrong/stupid/waste of time/and everything this poster says it was; makes me think why it flurished so much and had many more servers and many more players doing it and playing it. Most people left game not for the way it was played or how long it took to do it, but because they ran out of content and missions to do. So to bash on the way the game has thrived for so many years is wrong. The change of abby........ well for us players who played ffxi for what it was intended, the majority dont like the corner its turned. Might as well play WoW now.Quote:

"Times have changed you say". Well yes they have and maybe players like me need to move on and let go. Maybe we need to realize that FFXI will never be the same after abby. It doesnt mean we are wrong to say in anyway shape or form that ABBY is a cancer on a epic adventure. It also doesnt mean people shouldnt listen to what players like me are saying either.
To sum up. Lets all hope that over the next year of FFXI the SE team hears what there players (payers) are saying and make adjustment to the next set of content.
