remove soul pyres from the game, give bayld for killing things

Seriously, soul pyres are the stupidest waste of time when you're grinding kills. I'm supposed to stop for a good minute or so every 3 kills to get a piddly amount of bayld, or if I'm super super lucky, an item that I can more easily obtain elsewhere? They're just a hassle that 99% of us ignore. Remove them and give us bayld for kills similar to how you get CP/IS/AN for kills, with Ionis active.. I don't care if its just 1-3 bayld a kill, just give us whatever we'd be getting if we opened every soul pyre we came across so I can keep killing things instead of stopping to mess with the stupid things.

But seriously. I agree. Soul Pyres are crap. They should just give us like 2 bayld per kill and call it a day.

Got to agree, if I stop to try and obtain whatever is in a soul pyre, I lose my capacity chain and most of the time it's not worth the effort.

Heck, I'd even agree to have them just remove the pyres, making Bayld is easy and effortless enough as it is.

never could figure out how to obtain the soul pyre goodies. It's such a flawed system- may as well just remove it.

I tried getting on SMN and dancing around one, but the stupid thing just sat there instead of floating off to the afterlife.

I just ignore the things.

So does pretty much everyone, which makes them pointless to exist.

I've heard that really rarely you can find other items like JSE capes in them; but i've never once seen anything other than bayld. And nobody really cares enough to find out.

I've gotten capes I didn't need from them before. Not much of a confirmation without a pic but I think there was a screenshot posted on FFXIAH a long while back of one. I agree they are pretty pointless and I'd be all for just giving low amounts of bayld directly. The only time I've messed with them was out of curiosity and quickly got over it and just ignored them. They are too random with how they are opened based compared to chests which at least had a little bit of probability thinking and decent hints.

yes please. just add the drops to pools already. Or change the drops to something actually worth something cause now they are just stupid.

Being given something for killing things isn't being handed stuff for free. How do you get bayld normally? You kill things in designated places at designated times. The fact that we get bayld from soul pyres says that they don't mind ordinary enemies giving bayld either, they just decided that they need to make it an annoying hassle on top of the killing.

Skirmish should drop bayld per mob, and nm should drop the chests of hp-bayld. There needs to be some kinda event based system besides lair/colonization for getting bayld. Even if it was on a 1x daily basis (salvage/dynamis), if i could garuntee i could get 100 hq-bayld per day without grinding 12+ hrs on reieves it would be great...k thx

It's completely irrelevant from the actual handouts that FrankReynolds has openly said he wants. Though I know his comment was sarcasm, I just couldn't help and laugh at the intention of his comment.

I completely agree with you and hope they take this into consideration. The grind still exists to the same degree, it just prevents the annoying puzzle that most people just ignore in the first place which you have already mentioned.

I have to wonder if the initial intent of this was to try and avoid another situation like the blinkers. (Can you even NPC the equip you can get with bayld) That being said, I don't disagree with getting bayld per kill. Treat the soul pyres like caskets in the mainland, dropping consumables that might be useful if you want to try and access them.

Nope can't npc anything you can get with bayld that I know of and only thing you can sell/trade are HPs which didn't exist for a long time after they made the pyres.

Doesn't Yorcia skirmish give bayld per mob? There is also assignments!!! And doing skirmish runs where you just open the noetic

I dont mess with pyres often, but when I do I usually get a HP Bayld.

Gonna have to agree there. When I've bothered, I rarely get it, and for such bad rewards.

I think they should remove them entirely or add a /blockpyre command that makes them not targetable.

It sucks if you prefer to use Enter Key to target mobs like I do, if you are sleepy and running around killing mobs for CAP you will sometimes hit enter-key and be plunged into a Fun Exciting Mini Game by mistake lol.

Remove Bayld as a possibility, make them only pop with capes inside, and drop the pop rate to whatever the drop rate is for cape pyres. Additionally, the rate could be a bit higher than that and add HQ Bayld as a possibility rather than entirely removing Bayld outright. But honestly, either way, I think having standard Bayld as the reward for them is pointless and an annoyance.

Soul Pyres were created as content based on the idea that while you are solo you gain a little bonus every now and then when defeating monsters, so we do not have any plans to make changes so that you automatically get a small amount of bayld.

We are currently looking into making it easier to open soul pyres and also increasing the benefits when you are able to open them.

This is a confusing answer. How is the reason for not having mobs just give balyd because you want them to give a little now and then? Sounds kind of like the same idea... except not 100% but really there is no difference between a little now and then and even littlier everytime and you can always make it a sometimes thing.

Really even if you made them simple click and scroll to an open it option (which I doubt they will make it that easy) I don't really see it being worth it as even something like that would cost you enough time that you probably could have killed a whole nother mob unless those increased benefits are significant of course. And then even less worth it if you have to go thru and actually solve some kind of puzzle unless again you make it much much better. Like really high rate of having HPB

I think my main problem with all this is that I have a "Slay billions of monsters for jobpoints" state of mind, and a "lets stand around solving quirky puzzle games" state of mind, and they are totally different and mutually exclusive.

I need to keep my steely-eyed bloodlust mob-killing grinding hat on, to farm CAP. If I suddenly switch to my Tetris maths-wizard crossword-solving hat to solve puzzles, it cancels my Conan bloodsoaked slay-everything mood and leaves me standing there feeling confused.

That and if you wanted to solve puzzles and such there are plenty of other ways of doing it that don't involved stopping to kill monsters and yeah task switching between biting ankles and picking locks is not conducing to farming. And if you are wanting to make balyd much faster ways of doing it

Making them more appealing to go after is not the worst thing ive heard said, but I don't know how you guys can't see that this is terrible for battle flow. You can't maintain an EXP chain and open these soul pyres, for instance. The system runs counter to most player's primary goal of killing things as fast as possible. The system is just unfun and I'd rather not have it at all than have it give me better stuff, personally.

Why would I stop killing and break my kill streak to solve a puzzle when it's pretty much a 100% certainty that ignoring them is better than stopping to get them? Even then, why would I do it when that's not really the reason I went out to kill things?

I suppose if HP bayld appeared commonly in them I could see myself stopping to check if it was HP bayld or <anything else>, and opening it if it were the former, btu that's about as far as I'd go.

as of right now, soul pyres arent worth the time. I havent seen anyone even trying to get the 50 bayld or the pebbles inside on the cost of loosing a chain.
