SKC BCNMs: Very Hard = Impossible?

Is the Very Hard mode on the new BCNMs set for future proofing, or just flat out buggy? Just attempted a Divine Punishers fight, and we got wiped in one minute due to the fact that nobody could ever hit. My Monk with high accuracy, sushi and the iLevel 115 H2H was missing 90 percent of the time. Was this intentional?

You can hit decently if you bring acc buffs and higher ilvl items similar to how hard it was to hit bosses in delve before ilvl update

You really need ilvl 119 weapons for all melees for the very hard fights. A selection of feint/brd/cor/geo is going to help substantially too. Also a lot of people are just using blanket 5/5 skirmish gear, most of which offers very little in the way of acc.

Yeah Very Hard = Delve 119 gear needed. The other two modes can be done with lower level gear.

As I said before, I think the levels for them are somewhat close to.

VE=99
E=106
N=109
H=113
VH=119

The most common levels, 3~6 level gaps between them.

Doesn't Divine Punishers have items for the feet armour only? As far as I can tell, only Kindred Spirits has copies of the Rem's Tale, chapter 2 (body). I guess I better look into it again, and fix the tables I made, if need be. ^^;

Thanks for posting your findings though. After I tried Kindred Spirits twice with a party of four (Normal and Very Easy), it was clear to me that they intended people to not solo the battles, and that they're balanced for characters having item level equipment (which I don't). It was hard for me to tell what it would be for someone with said items, but I guess I know now.

Waiting for them items to be available somewhere else. :S

You explain your gear, which obviously isn't 'THE best', then a flat out statement that it isn't soloable. I think I'll wait til Byrth or someone tries it with lvl 119 weapons/gear, lol.

Heh, I'm already pretty much capped out on body seals, though. I beat Kindred Spirits with 6 people on Normal to Very Difficult mode. It's considerably easier than some of the other fights. A unprepared 6-man group is going to top out at "Difficult" and be unable to beat "Very Difficult" within the time limit. A group that can't pull in a Paladin is probably going to have trouble with "Difficult." An appropriately prepared group is going to have no problem with VD and will find Kindred Spirits to be one of the easier VD fights.

Group: Paladin (Ochain), White Mage, Bard (4 songs recommended for Very Difficult), Monk x3
Strategy: Kill BLM -> DRK -> WAR -> SMN and use Sacrosanctity around 60% on the SMN. Have your melees eat Sushi for Difficult / Very Difficult.

Sneering gear snob? Your post just reeks of gimpy, sorry. You don't even have the best gear and you expect to SOLO a BCNM that the developers intended people to party up for? The BCNMs are a complete joke at easy difficulty. SE created that difficulty with lazy players like you in mind, so that is your option. I doubt it's why "so many ppl are quitting the game." Other games are considerably worse with gear checks in fights. You need at least two~three people to do them, I highly doubt nobody is willing to go with you to get seals from a bcnm.

Congratulations on completely missing the point.

I wasn't being snobby about how bad your gear is, I was simply saying that you can't try and state how a fight is impossible, just because you can't do it. Especially since you are using the 2nd best and ~4/5th best daggers I think. Also, using 5/5 Iuitl gear and getting some better augments on them to increase your -PDT will help immensely.

Also, I doubt that /whm is going to be the best option. Maybe /RUN, especially since you'll have fan dance up the whole time, so won't be affected by the samba/rune conflict.

Also, to your point about me being a gear snob: I play BRD a bit. It's not my favourite, but we didn't have any other BRD in the LS, so I chose to make a Daurdabla. It's only 90, but it has been enough to get me into delve PUGs a bit. I killed the shark once and tojil twice is all, but that was enough to get me the 119 dagger. I only play 2-3 evenings a week, and my LS is by no means uber.

What comes to the difficulty, more of me was guessing that Very Easy could possibly be a more or less solo treat for someone with level 110-115 things, and less guessing that it would require at least the best of the best.

Why? Well, for one, it's content level 109 on Normal difficulty. Then again... I guess I don't know anything about content levels in general.

For two? Wishful thinking, I guess. I was probably hoping I'd have a shot, which is why I went in and tried without any item level equipment on me. I guess I could do it with some more help, but then I'd feel quite useless indeed, and I rather not have things handed over to me. ^^;

And honestly?(for the rest) what do you expect in a game that is pretty much now run by botters & RMT? at this point I only play to tie up loose ends and to finish Seekers, then its off to XIV, everyone in my main ls has quit and moved on to XIV. I do hope with the new upcoming Trust system with npc's it'll help with the more difficult things, getting help for Behind the Sluices was worse than pulling teeth taking like 2+ months to actually find people since you. can't. solo. it. unlike old stuff where if god forbid you need a hand for that its "LOL SOLO IT! I find the very hard modes an interresting feature for people testing their strength, and its not penalizing normal players since the same rewards come form lower difficulties battles.

That said, most of the Very difficult SKC 20 battles are actually easy (like everything in the game... it's easy once you know what to do...). Basically those fights are the same as the normal difficulty, except mobs get a boost on HP, evasion and magic evasion. For almost every battles, skirmish DDs, delve weapons, a bard with SV madrigals, is enough to cap you accuracy and you're good as a DD. For mages though, its impossible to sleep mobs reliably with the available iLvl gears (with exceptions...). However taking an ochain PLD is a good alternative. If no PLD, mages subbing BLM for elemental seal sleepga works great anyway.

The only "hard SKC 20" I found are the one with Tonberries, and the one with fomors (and thats because these mobs have annoying TP moves), the others are straightforward: PLD super tanks while DDs kill mobs one by one; or mages ES sleepga in turn while DDs kill one by one... lol. No special strategy needed. And I found the easiest one to be the fight with demons @ throne room.

I beat all the very difficult SCK20 with: BRD/BLMx2, WHM/BLMx2 and MNK/WARx2 (or /NIN). You can do anything with a balanced PT of DDx3 or DDx2+PLD, BRDx2 or BRD+COR or BRD+GEO, healerx1

It's a gimp mentality that he has. GOSH IM NOT A GEAR SNOB, as an excuse as to why someone can't do something. You can get the best gear in the game only playing like 1~2 hours a day or less. Skirmish is a snooze fest that takes barely any time and you could solo dyna for two hours for like three days and have enough gil to buy a win for any delve ilevel 119 if you are an extreme casual player and can't commit to LS. People who say things like "Gear snob" are just generally very lazy players who want to be carried by SE.

So me and mdk beat all very hard mode SKC10 or SKC20 NMs. I'm not sure of the point of doing them still. For SKC20 you do get more seals but the risk is not worth this extra +1/2 seal and beside you need one normal batlle anyway, so the fastest and easiest is normal > tough then spam tough. The point of VHM seems that you always get one rare item, sometimes 2, but honestly all the drops seem to suck I'm not sure why they are still worth millions (wut +10seconds on songs seriously?).

For SK10 it's even worse. One of the battles is close to impossible, the other 3 are easy in VHM. VHM doesn't even drop RME upgrade mats. The items suck even more (random elemental evasion rings or capes..).

They all drop a title though, might be something to be used in the future ?

This game has always had "impossible" battles. Back in the 75 cap days it was Jailer of Love, Dynamis Lord, Bahamut, and Vrtra to name a few. And they probably were "impossible" to any random pickup group with moderate gear. But they were still defeated fairly regularly by linkshells full of skilled players, with great gear, who worked well together. I haven't done any of these fights on Very Hard, but I imagine it's the same.

What'd I just read.....I see SKCNM /shout party every day. I finished 3 pieces in a few hours, 1 PUG and 1 LS run, made nearly 3M in 1st run by selling weapons and pluton. It doesn't seem hard to find ppl wanting to do it, since new AF is pretty good and you get free seals from log in point.

I think very difficult needs better reward. No point to do very difficult if you can get everything in normal/difficult mode.

nobody will do those battles after the login point campaign lol. At least I wont. Farming seals is the most boring thing to do.

People go through an awful lot of stress for a thing they ostensibly do for recreation.

You only need that insane gear / buffs on VH mode. On the lower difficulty you can beat it with significantly less gear, which is what SE was aiming for. Someone without access to the best can still acquire their gear if they put in the work. Someone who's already at the top can access the more "challenging" modes to get theirs slightly faster.

Note:
Challenge in FFXI is just using numerically larger states which must be combated with equally larger stats player side, the fight mechanics are the exact same which is kinda sad.

As others have already mentioned in this thread, the necessity for proper gear increases as you go towards the harder difficulty levels. Especially for Very Hard, having the right gear is very important, so if you are having problems challenging this content, try to procure higher level equipment and we think you’ll see a difference.

I asked on three LS, of my peers and long time friends ; "we don't need anything from those bcnms" "we don't have enough SKC's" etc.etc. Plus zero /shouts and most people with SKC are not going to gamble those SKC on a /shout run anyway - which I DO NOT blame them for at all. So having tried to organise a party for weeks, I went and solo'd. And as I was told here "you fail because you don't have THE best gear" ; gear of a mere level 115 on three slots and 113 on the others. Obviously not enough for a "very easy" mode fight, that drops items for gear which is lower level than the gear I was using in the bcnm, lol......
Like I say though, I win on this issue because I tried ; I farmed the SKC, tried to get a party together (on a server with like 300-400 actual players & 200 mules) and failed, tried to solo it with perfectly decent gear, and failed. I win because I gave up on it after trying my best, its a failed system so I walked away, after posting my feedback here.

I will not agree with the poster who called you lazy. Babekeke was correct though in that you cannot declare something impossible simply because *you* cannot do it, especially when you do not have the best gear.

And that was on normal difficulty. I see shouts for these fights every day. It is absolutely not a failed system. I find it hard to believe that you are unable to find 2-3 people to do the easier fights. They don't also have to have the orb to do the fights btw. That could have been confusion on their part and part of the reason your friends did not want to do them.

Calling it "badly implemented" just because you can't solo it is pretty silly. While getting large groups in the game is pretty hard right now, it is not that hard to gather up 1 or 2 people.

I think what SE is failing to mention here is that the proper gear for the content may not yet be implemented.

All of the VD modes have been duoed by triboxers now. I have personally never lost one, though I enter with 6 players always. Please tell me again that they are impossible.

Also, do you guys know what the benefit of VD mode is? A chance of RME item case and one more seal, as far as I can see. Even if people are capable of doing VD, it is probably better for them to do Difficult. Just do VD once for the title and then spamm D.

I'm not ace enough to do very difficult, but I have done difficult. The evasion of the mobs in the fight I did was insane. One bad thing about the higher ilevel gear is that much of it has less accuracy than the previous ilevels. I actually had to "downgrade" most pieces to have enough. I don't mind having to be versatile and make adjustments, but it kinda flies in the face of what Camate suggested unless I'm missing something.

5/5 highest level gear is generally only the best for tanking and soloing. For DD you are still required to think, I'm afraid. If you aren't going to take much damage, or have very good healing, then the likes of thaumas are still top contenders, if you would call that a 'downgrade'. Not to mention the best use of your brds/cors/geos/food.

If you have Oatixurs and can eat Sushi, you should have no Acc issues in Difficult fights even without buffers (except when fighting the THF type monsters). Go /WAR and stagger Focus and Aggressor.

I've done a couple of these on Hard, and many more on Normal. The Normal ones aren't that terrible if you have a good sleeper or a PLD with a lot of defense and physical damage taken reduction. Hell, even on Easy mode you're guaranteed 1 Rem's Tale per run. Only need 5 to upgrade a piece of you do some Limbus and +1 it first. You could probably scrape together a shout group with a little persistence. It'll be easier now that the crests are available for 30 logon points each and you can supposedly trade other seals for sacred crests. Should be more takers.

Though I agree with your point about Draylo.

Last I checked thaumas coat doesn't have as much accuracy as other options and in SE's eyes it probably is a downgrade compared to ilevel gear. See, what Camate said was that we need to get better gear to do well in the very difficult fights. My point was that what SE bills as better gear actually tends to have less accuracy than gear that precedes it in the hierarchy. Yayotl helm and whirlpool mask are exceptions. My point? The gear he's talking about doesn't appear to exist as of yet.

I do have oats, I did eat sushi, and I still had acc issues. My H2H is capped and fully merited. I was /WAR and did stagger focus and aggressor. After the first fight I slapped on all the acc gear I had with me. We only started hitting decently once our BRD gave us full madrigals. This was in the Dismemberment Brigade fight. We won them all, but that first fight was a real whiff fest for all of us. I'm not jumping on your case, but your experience is much different than mine.

The gear is in the game, you are just being closed minded if you think your Yorica Skirmish gear is enough to carry you through the content, need to stack high accuracy in equipment, food, and buffs (Madrigal, Auspice, Boost-DEX, Hunter's Roll) and utilize debuffs to enhance your ability to kill the mobs in the BC my Corsair usually subs Dancer and puts up steps on the mobs we are fighting to lower evasion and defense, also using Dia 2 enhanced with light shot and any circle effects we can to gain an edge.

No, I'm just saying SE's official answer is wrong. If anyone is being closed minded it's them. The "better" gear that's in the game right now has less accuracy than what precedes it on the ilevel scale. That tells me that for Camate's answer to be correct they need to put more accuracy on higher ilevel armor.

Well, my monk wears essentially only gear that auto-falls to it or comes from DNC and still had no accuracy issues. My TP set is:
Oatixurs/__/__/Potestas
Uk' Cap/Asperity/Bladeborn/Steelflash
Thaumas/Otornif/Rajas/Epona's
Atheling/Windbuffet/Quahuiz/AF+3

That with Sole Sushi +1 and two marches (and Focus/Aggressor staggered) was enough to cap my hit rate against everything except the THF Fomor in Brothers d'Aurphe. Perhaps we have a dagger user along doing evasion down debuffs, but if we did then I don't remember it. I do have a weak Acc TP set that I didn't need to use:

Whirlpool/Ziel/Bladeborn/Steelflash
Thaumas/Otornif/Rajas/Epona's
Atheling/Windbuffet/Quahuiz/AF+3

I guess the quality of your support matters too. The Blind from Hecatomb Wave is very potent.
