How can a new player get an empyrean weapon nowadays?

Let's take a look at Daurdabla:

50x Iron Plates
75 Colorless Souls
75 Apademak's Horns
1500 Heavy Metal Plates
60 Riftcinder

To get it 4 song. When this thing was hot you would need an entire linkshell doing this for you to be able to achieve it or real life friends that would spend months playing for you.

Now that building empyrean weapons is a thing to the past and no linkshells are doing it, its very unlikely that a player that didn't get it done by now will be able to have a 3 or 4 song instrument.

Of course we are not talking about people who can purchase mercenaries help. 60 riftcinders are veing sold for 180million gil in Asura so that's a big no for almost every legit player in the game.



Will SE lower these requirements or even better, create a new instrument crafted or dropped through new content that matches the empyrean?

Getting your Harp to level 90 is actually easier than ever. Very few people going after Ironclads. Still some competition over colorless souls, but you can probably still have one of the zones all to yourself (especially Grauberg). And very little competition for Sisyphus or Dhorme Khimaira these days.

As for 95 and 99, yes you're pretty much boned. Your best bet would be to shout for Uptala (since Mura is still in demand) and Morta. You can't rely on cinders and plates entering the market at a satisfactory rate; you have to go out there and make it happen.

I would suspect that if you're having trouble with an Empyrean, making a new instrument come from current content could be equally (if not more so) out of your reach so be careful what you wish for. Personally, I think that if they're willing to have double plan Salvage, double drop Voidwatch can't be too far behind (one hopes).

Well from what i understand is that if SE intends to implement upgrades to REM and if these upgrades give wow factor. People will go back to doing REM trials even the ones who don't even have them now. In this case do the easy part now while you can because I'd hate to go find out that I just missed an 8 hour boss spawn all because the guys on the map camping already killed it 5 minutes ago.

Then again I think SE wanted SoA to be a success first before directing the crowd away from the new expansion.

I would like at least to get a new crafted or SoA instrument that could match the empyrean one. Or even making a relic equivalent.

No, they thought we would be fine with them obsoleting every other event forever, but they were apparently wrong.

The ladder can only go so high. That's how I see the playerbase right now. Any further we climb will bend the game and break it.

The more power they give, the more irrelevant content will become.

I've seen people asking for delve DD for things like Skirmish. This will be the downfall of this game if nothing is changed by SE.

It's worse than you think.

The only way you will see a solution to the issue of people asking for DDs in a discriminatory way is to shout for your own groups and not do it yourself. No matter what SE does, it will not change the fact that the majority of people lead by example, and those who are the example are often those who want the best results. Best geared people means best results, so they ask for the best they can reliably get, as such others do the same, and it follows until you run out of people who lead, those who don't lead & don't meet these requirements occasionally take up the leading role, but do the same things they complain about in most cases I see anyways.

Really, this issue is best solved by the players, and more specifically, by the players being excluded.

welcome to the new ff xi, if you dont get it the first month or so the content comes out then good luck getting it 3 months down the road. i see why they went with the new direction with gear progression.

I do not fall into this model sadly.. and I belong in that latter group I like playing endgame but I detest leading but I'm ok at it. Audolin is alot easier for people like me to lead but I'd much rather do things at my own pace as Delve is like true endgame... people still can't really kill shark unless they are endgame ls and even then it's hard...

All Im trying to say is that no matter what SE does, it will never change that people are expected to have certain gear for them to be invited to groups. Right now, its Delve weapons & Delve boss weapons, but outside of literally enforcing a rule for it, nothing SE does will really change the behavior of the community on this game. People will always have certain restrictions they expect people to adhere to when inviting because they want the run to be successful.

The only people who will not do that kind of thing are those few select leaders who choose not to enforce these kinds of rules, and they are the minority. Most of them are the people who got fed up with the idea of needing certain gear to join, and instead wanted to build groups so they could get what they wanted. The bad thing is, some enforce the very thing they seek a way to escape from. That is why I try to encourage more people to lead in these cases, and in these kinds of threads in general.

Its like the bear who is on commercials saying 'only you can prevent forest fires', except here its that only you can prevent discriminatory invites. By making your own parties you can help others in your same position, wanting to join parties but unable because of gear restrictions, but if no one wants to lead except the very people who do that, then nothing will possibly change.

It's a lot harder now for people who missed the train.
There are no plasms farm shouts anymore; the only chance would be having a job that meets the requirements for 5NM+MB runs.

If you get into one of those, you get far more plasm than you would have. And you're getting credit for all the NM kills too. Even mediocre 1-5 groups still clear the 5 NMs for 9,750 plasm.

You will have bit the bullet and level a job friendly to that event though but it's definitely worth it to get your foot in the door. For example, you have BLM listed as your main job, but from there it's not too hard to level and gear a decent SCH that can use almost all your BlM gear.

I agree with the OP, and not only about empyrean stuff. Everything is easy, only if you already have almost everything.

Players complained about that increasing gap between hardcore and casual players (or experimented and new players) ever since SOA has been released.
Maybe i'm wrong, but i feel like this gap is still increasing.

I agree that the gap is widening. The game has always had a gap in gear between the very best and the next level of more casual players. But you only need to look at the difference between Uguisumaru and Tsurumaru to see the gap between the best and next-best.

That said, it's a lot more reasonable now for a new/returning player to get two ki in a single 1-5 run (provided that they can get into the group). I find that just like with the plasm farming PTs of old, groups are much more accepting of lesser geared players if they can provide a support job. BRDs and CORs generally have lenient requirements (may vary by server). Also, I always tell people that a reasonably-geared SCH is a quick ticket into any group.

The only thing which needs to be seriously reduced is the 1500 metal plates. Almost nobody does Voidwatch anymore and the large supplies of plates across servers has dwindled down by a lot.

yeah the VW items have been barring a lot of people from getting their upgrades done.

i've been working on Armageddon recently for my COR , after the tedious camping of lotto spawns i'm finally on the easy VW NM's and have been solo'ing these and duo'ing carabosse quite easily. Now adays its actually far easier to make an empy weapon than its ever been. Granted not every weapon is the same or same requirements but in terms of difficulty it may just be a server population issue. On bahamut our population is around 400-1000 at any given time during the workweek but i'm not sure about most other server. Assuming you have been fortunate enough to have jobs needed for delve or new skirmish content then there really should be no problem building an empy weapon as most things can be lowmanned with little to no difficulty now adays. As sad as that sounded its the world of vana' diel now and we gotta adapt.

Making the weapon and getting it to 90 isn't the problem.

Getting it to 95/99 however... even if you have the gil, there is a serious supply problem. And given the drop rate for the the upgrade items AND the extremely limited mobs that drop them, it's not something you can just go out and farm on your own or even with a small group.

HMP need to be added to solo/duo content or the lights system needs adjusting. Not that VW isn't easy these days with 2-3 people, but the lights system kinda clamps down on any meaningful attempt to gather them in your spare time or with a friend. Alex and currency are both obtained via solo/low man content, allowing you to work on them in your spare time, when nothing else is going on. HMP requires you to take specific combinations of jobs, significantly lowering the speed of forming these parties.

Allowing /fume to be used once per minute so we can do this (Now, easy and mostly irrelevant) content, without being screwed over by a stupid gimmick that does nothing but lengthen the time required to form a party would be a great start.

One adjustment they could make to VW would be to expand the number of current weaknesses. If it's currently 1 EV, 2 HV, and 6 V, then maybe doubling that to 2 EV, 4 HV, and 12 V (or something similar) would rekindle interest by making things far more low-mannable than before.
