STICKY TO PLDs + DNCs

trying to supertank in rieves does more trouble than help, sure you may get some extra bayld but with the AOE damage from mobs hitting every other player and mpking them you're just pissing everyone else off, and you cant even be raised without taking even more damage and its near impossible to unweaken. think about it before being so selfish

Unless there's enough people around to NOT do something like this, they SHOULD be doing it- it makes rieves much easier to clear when there are too few people around- especially in the more remote areas. You should also be smart enough not to stand near those mobs.

I'm not a PLD or DNC and I'm glad when they're around, it makes things safer for me, not more dangerous.

^ As a PLD, I pull mobs to one side so DDs can pull them off me and not get AoE. The problem I see with reives is simple and maybe the OP falls in this category:

- Selfish and runs to roots ignoring other players clearing the mobs.
- BST and sics pet on roots then sits back doing nothing.
- Dies from AoE/aggro while hitting roots and blames it on others.
- Die from lack of common sense, situational awareness, or in this case the effective role of a good PLD.

I ignore these ppl or bring all the mobs to the roots to have AoE kill them. Killing the roots immediately is stupid anyway as you will get less Bayld per reive. Killing mobs then attacking roots and clearing repops has always given me more because the reive lasts longer.

There are some issues with Blu's getting mpk'd. When we use dream flower once some people think it's okay to use an aoe or do a little bit of dmg not causing enough hate to the mob making it attack the blu.

This is why I try to not use dream flower unless it's just a nest, but sometimes the super tank dies and everything comes after me. Not fun. Dream flower which usually has me running away because everyone else, mainly weak ass dnc's and thf's start tic'ing away at the slept mobs causing around four of them to wake up and attack me. I'm just talking from experience though.

Since most want to kill mobs instead of roots it's genuinely best to stay away from aoe spells because some people are ignorant of what you're doing. Once you die and the mobs wake up again it's usually a blood bath.

hmm..thnx for letting me know what not to do in rieves, the first few you have a learning curve,but no big deal really.

It's been reported that the root has to be taking damage in order for people to get significant bayld. So it actually helps the entire group if somebody is on it full time.

As an Ochain, I, too, pull them away and take 0 damage while you do your thing. I'm helping you, learn to appreciate it.

One will be red, you can take one if you can handle it, but I find that most people (not most jobs, most people), can't. If you know how to play your class, pick them off one by one and kill it, preferably any on other side of the pack, making the others easier to block without moving.

I just find that most ninjas, sams, dancers, blms, etc can't solo them. Not that the classes don't have the tools but the players have never used them.

OP you have no idea what your talking about. I have ochain on PLD mobs hit me for 0, I pick up all the mobs so people can kill the log. If I didn't tank all the mobs people could not kill the log especially when theres only a couple of people there.

OP you shouldn't post if you have no idea what you are talking about or how to even play the game.

Double edged sword, hold all of the mobs and people only zerg the objective, which rewards the people doing it with few points, hold no mobs and people can not survive to even attack the objective, which rewards the people doing it with no points. Your average player is simply to short sighted to think its possibly better to draw out a battle than to simply end it as fast as possible, then again thats what you get when zerg content like we have had over the last couple years encourages killing as fast as possible with little restraint.

PLDs are the only reason I enjoy Reives. When a PLD is tanking like a boss if gives me free reign to dive in and help him out. As long as he focuses down on one mob, he can be healed, buffed, and helped without people getting mobbed and the DD's can focus down the roots or individual mobs.

Supertanks are one of the best parts of Reives.

Counter point: Successful completion of reives rewards ALL of us by allowing the zone to be colonized. So even if you don't get a ton of Bayld from an individual Reive, you're going to get tons from the missions/quests that become available as we progress into new areas.

Did Rieve in moh gates, had about 5 people killing the log and I was holding all the mobs it still took 25 min to kill the log, earned about 8k bayad.

I sincerely hope that wasn't directed at me, but at the people that "can't solo them". I aby-pl'd a few jobs (blm, bst, sam..) but PLD was my original main and one of my favorites =).

Of course, many people who aby-pl have learned how to play their classes and are great at them but a lot of blms don't understand why they're not 1-2 shotting the enemy.

Something that strikes me as funny is this is one of those horrible posts, but the OP post has no likes, even the guy that wants SE to charge everyone $10 per update got 5 likes, and he had the worst idea I've ever seen on these forums, including my own.

If people want to just zerg the root, let them. They get very little reward for doing so. However, if I was that PLD holding all the mobs, I'd be sorely tempted to just walk out of the reive area and let the mobs return to wandering. Especially if there were more than about 3 ppl there. If it's just 1-3 ppl there then it makes sense to just attack the objective, especially if you actually want to pass the reive to get to the other side.

Personally I'm quite happy to let a PLD hold the mobs, the noobs hit the objective, and I'll pick mobs off the PLD and kill them to help everyone's Bayld out. Only mobs I don't like are bees (final sting can 1-shot me with little that I can do about it >.>) and the twytherims... AOE paralyze and silence spam is bad from a DRG/RDM's point of view.

Unfortunately, one person picking things off doesn't help much. If there's enough people doing it, these walls just don't last long (campaign walls lasted longer, a lot longer). And lair rieves (wasp nests, etc) don't last at all.

SE needs to teach people this isn't campaign, it isn't bastion, it does work differently.

I wish I had the same problem on my server. Rather than the walls going down insanely fast, I just see groups getting wiped.

If people choose to attack the logs that's their problem, but we can fix this by using /say and informing our fellow mouth breathers. If they choose to ignore it, still their problem, I personally haven't had problems grinding Bayld even with those people who don't listen tagging along.

There is a problem of conflicting objectives.

So the people wanting to use up their Coalition Points will want to do the stuff fast, and the people who want Bayld will do it slow. However OP has no idea what they're talking about, so... I think everything that needs to be said has been said.

BTW you can actually solo a Reive as BST but it is the longest most tedious thing. You sneak or invis, then you go and use the fight command on a root and you actually don't get hate until a monster sees you and your pet is fine as well. Problem is solo that takes forever, but I'm just pointing out I've spent 10 minutes with my pet soloing a Reive so it IS possible to spam Lair Reives if all you want to do is get your coalition points spent, and that saves the effort of people zerging the knotted roots for the Pioneers.
