A Possible Nyzul Uncharted Fix

After some conversation with other players in this thread here, I thought up (with some suggestions) a miracle fix for Nyzul Isle Uncharted Investigation.

In its current state, the event is highly inaccessible, and this is what I and those I have conversed with believe to be the main fault of Nyzul Isle Uncharted. Thus, I would like to propose the following: a mode of Nyzul Isle Uncharted in which you climb as you did in the original Nyzul Isle Investigation.

The event I propose would be structured as follows:

• This mode of Nyzul Isle Investigation should be listed as a third option by the NPC Sorrowful Sage when selecting which assault to do. So you should see: "Nyzul Isle Investigation", "Nyzul Isle Uncharted Investigation", and then this third option right under it.
• The mechanics will be the same as the original Nyzul. You should be able to save every five floors, terminating at 100.
• The floor configurations (including normal monsters and NM's encountered) should be the same as Nyzul Uncharted. This will make the event challenging to players that are level 99.
• The reward for reaching and clearing floor 100 is one platinum astrarium, which can then be redeemed for a piece of equipment from the NPC Berangere.
• After the astrarium is redeemed, your floor progress resets and you may then repeat the process.

I believe making a mode of Nyzul as so will make the amazing equipment Nyzul Uncharted offers more accessible to players. As an added bonus, this won't prompt players to cheat or use third-party programs to gain an advantage they feel is necessary to obtain rewards. Furthermore, a mode like this is a nice meaty slab of content that will keep people busy but offer clear and visible notions of progress, something that is very important to players performing any content.


I've always enjoyed doing the original Nyzul with my Linkshell. I would love to see the glory of this event restored...and I really would like to get my hands on some of that awesome gear.


TL;DR Version:
Please make a mode of Nyzul Isle in which we can obtain platinum astraria each time we reach floor 100 but with the progression mechanics of the original Nyzul Isle.

Weirdly I can not like your post, but I agree with you, the only thing is they would have to also make is so you can not actually go to a specific floor unless everyone has made it to that floor, so that people do not look for someone with floor 100 progress and just leech the progress for everyone else.

Whatever happens with NNI it needs to be reevaluated. My group would get FL 80 on a consistent basis before the adjustments to embrava, mob level in NNI, and attack/def values and we were OK with that. Out of our last 10 runs since the update we have only managed 80 once. Something needs to happens with this event so people can continue to work towards something besides wasting their time.

I suppose that could work, but that's not the approach I'd like to see.

Personally, I feel a much better option would be to make it so that as soon as you complete a floor's objective, you should automatically jump ??? floors. This would make it so no one has to stand around staring at the lamp bored out of their mind waiting to manually jump-- instead they could actually participate! I think having a 6th person being able to actually run around and help out would not only make it a little easier to clear floors faster, it would also make the event far more enjoyable.

EDIT: I suppose they could always do both, though.

I think they designed NNI so that very little of us will be able to advance, to make sure that progress is very slow to a crawl, and to win you need a few third party tools. I would hope all the likes and suggestion to make it more accessible will matter and they will at the very least consider this. I doubt they will do anything - as long as progress is slowed, no one will be able to "Finish" the game, which means more money for them.

That's quite correct, and so I proposed a solution that requires a bit of time commitment but satisfies the wishes of both parties. SE gets to have money. The players get to have their stuff.

Quite frankly, there isn't much reason why both couldn't be implemented. I must agree with you anyway though.

It's not supposed to be "more accessible." It was made to be trophy gear for those who complete the challenge and the event has been gimped down enough times as it is. If you can't beat it after a few tries, you're simply not yet at the level you need to be to attempt this event.

It can be beaten without third party tools as is. Not consistently, but that was never it's intention. Also you have the option to shoot for 80x5 for the same result. I think your idea, while having a guaranteed piece at the end of that trek, will ultimately take longer than what's already in place.

If by "challenge" you mean pure dumb luck than sure it is challenging. My group was easily clearing 20 floors a run, pre update, which in itself should be enough to get 100 but we ended up having to cap it at 80 because of our horrible luck on floor jumps. Post update we have seen 80 once...

Truly spoken by two people who have not done the content since the update. Both of these posts would have been valid before the update but that is not the case now. I suggest you two take a few tags and do some runs and come back with some results. I bet you will change your minds on how the event has been "gimped".

Fact is the only people that will say it's not broken are those who are already done with the content. Grats on your 15/15 and all but some people are not so lucky and the update really broke this event even more.

That's kinda the point. This is a longer safer route in which time investment has a higher chance to come back successful. That's why I think making NNI have these options for how you wish do it is a good idea. That way, there will be something for those who dislike subjecting themselves to sheer luck as well as being restricted by a very limited job spectrum.

People who had trouble clearing the event before and still do now due to job availability and the aftermath of the Embrava adjustments should still get a chance now. As I said in the strategy thread, that gear wasn't limited edition. It isn't the tidal talisman.

What you want is basically called doing floor 80s as it is now. You take 5 runs to get one piece and getting to floor 80 is really easy.

Buddy. Read my post. I said 'as is' as in as it currently is.

I'm actually organizing runs with my LS. We have a pretty diverse group: PLD COR BRD SAM DRG SCH. It's also a group that's pretty viable and solid for taking on a lot of content, so I consider it the archetypical "any group". I'll report back on how it all goes and bring some screenshots if we make it to 80.

You should be able to get floor 100 most of the time with a proper setup. Don't know what your bringing now, but it must not be working. So far my group has done 2 WARs, a MNK and a SAM or DRK for DDs. Then we have a SCH/RDM to run after them giving Phalanx and Regen V. Last and most important is BRD/SMN. Whenever they can the BRD should pop Troubadour/Nightingale double Marches and summon Garuda for Hastega. Chocobo Mazurak everyone on lamp floors.

With this setup it's a pretty easy win. I even managed to hit floor 100 with a gimp SCH and a THF without an Empyrian or Relic as a DD. The triple haste you get from the BRD should keep you alive as things will die so fast you'll barely take damage. I'd say this setup is even better than back when you had SCHs use Embrava.

I didn't read all these but a few are saying that its very hard to get to 80 now yes it is, But you have to play with different job combos and you can still win. My group we were doing x5 fl80 and winning almost every run we had some nights crappy jumps then the nerf came and it screwed us bad not a single win. We tried 4DDs SCH BRD tried 4DD SCH COR and still lost so we tried x5 DD x1SCH lil rough at start but we got closer to 80 than with the other to set ups That was our last tag and we did all those combos in one night. So last Sat came did the same set up x5DD x1SCH got to floor 80 3xs won about 3-5mins to kill on each. We had WAR MNK PUP WAR MNK SCH and yes lolpup but the lil bastard helps at times. SCH needs to keep Regen V up with acc+perp at all times haste whoever they can and I try to put enfire and firestorm up on every other jump.
Sorry for the dragged out story... I think the extra DD makes up for the loss of buffs from a cor or brd.

Did your bard try to stack Paeon? That's a mistake my party did at the beginning, we thought regen was the way to go. What we do now gets us floor 100 wins. Bard casts double marches with troubadour and nightingale and casts hastega with Garuda. The haste gets capped on the DDs and they kill so fast they barely take any damage. All your scholar needs to do is keep phalanx and regen 5 up and you're set. The only way you will lose is if you get really, really, really, really, really, really bad floor jumps.

The content itself is not hard, however the floor jumps that is where the trouble is at, just now we were at floor 77 and it was a free floor, good we thought.... obviously thought wrong, cause we got warped to 79, and timed out frankly, everytime we done it, probally just horrible luck cause our floor jumps really range from 2-5 standard, with occasionally a 10 floor jump, sure it is somewhat luck based, but they can just make is so that if you pick:

Floor: 100 you jump 10 floors.
Floor: 080 you jump 08 floors.
Floor: 060 you jump 06 floors.
Floor: 040 you jump 04 floors.
Floor: 020 you jump 02 floors.

In the old version you can climb 10 floors with 3 people now a day.. they can do that for NNI aswell... would it make NNI to easy... not sure, as they have some NM's in there that take some time, aswell as some big ass floors that take you minutes to walk just to find 1 single enemy for a complete all/single enemy floor, cause atm having to do 16 floors requires you to clear them in under 2 minutes each is just crazy.

AKA you're some sort of mage other than SCH so you don't get to have anything from NNI...

People really are confusing difficulty with lack of competency with their gear and party.

A good white mage or red mage can do the job as well. More so the red mage probably with phalanx 2. White mage would have more trouble keeping up with everyone especially if your group likes to split up. Scholar is just the easiest with AoE Phalanx and Regen V which is all anyone will need in your party apart from Shell and Protect.
