SE - WUT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

Warning or not - I'm fed up!

So Mages were not getting any Bayld from Reives for being supportive. Yes, this is an asbolute mess up. A detail so blatently obvious it astounds us all how you could overlook it.
It indicates a complete lack of understand of the VERY BASICS of roles within this game.
What did you expect WHMs and BRDs to do in Reives? Melee the nest while the mobs hit melee for 400-600 DMG thanks to your new defense/attack BARANCE?

So kudos to you for fixing that. good job. you needed the community to tell you how to program and design your own game.

But now, you reduce the Bayld earned by melee. GREAT! Good job. NOT!

Why do you think that you have to take something away, when you do what you should have done in the first place?

You could have just increased the Bayld earned by supportive actions like healing magic, bard songs, enhancing magic, or through BLM spells. and that would have fixed the problem and ballanced the event.

But no. Somewhere in your discussions internally, some guy raised his hand and said "but lets also reduce the Bayld earned by Melee".

They could make no attempt at all to fix it you know. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a conscious decision to take away from your score to improve other people's. I'm willing to wager the system is a lot more complex than you think it is.

(Obviously it would have been a good idea to at least have a public preview on the test server like the week before the release)

If the exp/bayld doesn't have a cap (as it should), then institute one. Throw 12-20 devs/SE personnel at reives for an hour. Find out the average values people attain for melee, healing, etc. Calibrate the cap exp/bayld to that so that any job can essentially attain the cap if working hard and call it a day.

I'd actually like to point out that no "fix" is really a fix when it comes to SE... it's fix this and that, and nerf the rest. They have the notion of balance completely wrong and any problem in general that needs a fix takes forever to be found and even when it does, takes years to implement. The community has posted a large amount of fixes for SE on here that have blatantly been seen by the dev team but they work on the new expansion instead and get it wrong. Then to improve on the expansion and provide their "fixes" they have emergency maintenance for an hour and a half, and given every problem there is at the moment, they go and increase the damage to stupidly high amounts on weapons that nobody has even worked out how to get let alone own (we know its the HNM but we don't know how to pop or the difficulty, only an educated guess). Well done SE, you're killing your game very effectively.

Again, if you really believe it was a conscious decision to nerf melee as a trade off for making mage participation suck less, ... well I don't know what to say that would be forum-appropriate other than i sure don't think so.

If it wasn't a conscious decision, they would have listed the melee change as a Known Issue, to be fixed at a later date.

This is SE were talking about, of course it was a conscious decision and if it wasn't then it is yet another bug. It's getting incredibly stupid. I'm usually the one backing up SE because their games getting old but now with all these latest random fixes and nerfs, FFXI is just a death wish.

Since when have they ever posted known issues with such a frequency that we would have seen one already?

They've been asking for feedback, I'm sure this isn't going to be the end of the adjustments, considering it's already the second time.

that's what it is. nothing more nothing less. I'd be lying if I said there was nothing I wasn't pissed about (see other threads) but I'm still enjoying the game as a whole.

Honestly, I hate to act like a white knight here but it seems to me like you guys are just looking for excuses to rage.

People are getting upset over the littlest things these days.

Did you even read the notes? If so, it's time for you to go back to Reading Comprehension 101. They "Adjusted" melee damage. This was a deliberate decision on their part, not a bug.

I'm not "upset" over it, but I do think it was the wrong decision to make.

Note I said yet another... to the point where there's no point playing anymore. SE are gonna be p**sing players at this rate because I give up tbh. So many issues and so many being left and yes these get fixed but there are hundreds of other things that need fixing from BEFORE SoA! All the time they're testing the players on the live servers there's no fun. It literally feels like a job because that's what testers are paid for! Coincidentally that's also what the un-used test servers for, not for players who actually wanna play the game. We log on everyday or every week to play a complete game not something that is gonna change in a day or 2 because you got it wrong however many times and need the players to tell you that!

Not seeing a notice and lacking reading comprehension are not the same thing. I had not ben by the main site yet today, and the OP didn't state that he got this knowledge from the website. It sounded more like personal experience to me.

That does change things to some extent. I would argue the in EITHER case, it wasn't easy enough.

Well, that is what the other people are terribly upset about.

I can understand being upset about it, I can't understand the unbridled rage. I can only hope that it's exaggeration in the hopes it will make them more likely to listen.
