Achievements in Adoulin expansion?

This is purely for the Xbox 360 version.

What kind of achievements will you add to the game in this expansion? Could we get a list in advance? :D

I really want information about this. ^^

Why would they reveal what would essentially be a spoiler list before the expansion launches?

Most achievements wouldn't be spoilers. In Wings of the Godess they added "Become a crafting guild member" and "Unlock an extra job" for example. Those were things already in the game, sure it would have spoiled you if you haven't got past level 30 the past 3 expansions.

I'm curious if they are adding similiar achievements that you could work on already.

And to mention that they have an achievement for "Finishing the story missions." isn't a spoiler directly!

Actually for it to be an achievement then it would mean they have to have the story line done unless MS got rid of the requirement that the achievement must be obtainable upon release requirement. So in a way that would be a big spoiler. Granted I would love to hear they actually have the full story done before release instead of the current track record.

You are sounding awfully pessimistic. They haven't added new achievements for five years and there are a lot of uncovered content. There is a chance they add some old stuff in to the mix with the new achievements and if that's the case I would be happy to start working towards it as soon as possible. ^^

Here is some stuff I could think of; get 110 in one craft, get all crafts to 70+, get all jobs to 99, clear some new endgame content and finish different add-on content.

As far as I know that isn't a requirement it certainly wasn't before and I can't find any new info on that requirement with a quick google search. The most recent change is how many points new XBLA-games and their DLC are worth. If you have a link to more recent guidelines please share it, I would love to read about the new changes. ^^

Pessimistic, I guess. I mean you're talking about stuff that's old if they're going to wait this long for adding new achievements I'd hope they'd be related to the expansion. Which would actually be an easy to add marketing ploy.

I highly doubt it would be on Google considering the only reason I know about it being a requirement (or at least was) is from when I was involved in developing games for 360. They used to be stupid requirements that limited what they could be when they first came out, stuff like "the average player" must be able to unlock all achievements, though they got rid of that when people cried about how auto complete (story progression ones) achievements weren't much of an achievement.

I think this conversation is turning out ugly. If you claim to have worked with a game on the Xbox 360 platform and have read about the guidelines you should be fully aware of other stuff you have proven to not know. It's a strange card to draw when you don't really need to.

Developers aren't allowed in most cases to add achievements without a paid patch or a disc release. There are exceptions as always, especially early on Xbox Live. Wings of the Goddess had two achievements for completing the missions and all the city quests. You couldn't complete those for years.

Of course we will see new achievements in there for leveling the new jobs, try out gardening or whatever they call it, do some new endgame and complete the missions. But to throw in a couple of extra achievements for more recent content is a big possibility and I can't really see any negativity in that. Much of the new content is important even after the expansion will hit us.

I brought up having worked on 360 games because you brought up Googling the requirements. No requirements are ever made public because they change and well exceptions are made all the time. Having that available as common knowledge to the customers just doesn't benefit either party (developer or console company).

• WotG - was an expansion which as you mentioned a few extra Achievements.
• ACP/AMK/ASA Add-ons - would qualify as a paid patch, well would qualify for an exception as it wasn't a paid patch though XBL.
• Abyssea Add-ons - same as above.
• 2008 The Vana'diel Collection - disc release.
• 2009 Ultimate Collectors Edition - same as above.

I might be missing a collectors disc release but you get the idea 1 out of 5 (up to 9 if you count the add-ons separately) chances to add achievements.

You're more than likely correct in saying there will be achievements for the new jobs + story line. Is that something that would really need to be announced?

I guess I should explain my view of "achievements" they should actually be something that quantifies having completed more than would be considered the basic part of the game, those are fine but there should be more. So I would like to see achievements in the realm of:

• Complete Story mission. (given)
• Get new jobs to 99. (given)
• Kill X HNM. (7 of these at least based on what's been released)
• Complete endgame event. (one for w/e they add that's like dynamis/limbus/etc.)

So yeah if they went to that degree then yes releasing a list ahead of time would become a spoiler list.

Yeah, but even though there are requirements they are broken really often by developers and other special cases. FFXI is a big special case. I think they would have no problem to add achievements up to the maximum limit whenever they want to. But I dont think they want to negotiate with Microsoft for something small like that.

The add-on content you refer to isn't released through the regular Xbox channels and therefore they don't get any money. A paid patch is when they have to update the game through the Xbox Live system. That usually cost an insane amount of money something Square-Enix probably isn't paying with each patch they do.

Collection disc releases are a legitimate reason to add achievements but usually as a separate list and that wouldn't work with this game for several reasons. Because they all install the same files and they play the same game after updating once.

Like I said at least two or three times. I want to know if there are stuff I can work on right now.

Your definition of a spoiler is more extreme than mine. To know that there are missions in an achievement list isn't a big deal for me. If the achievement however "Defeated the evil Swordmaiden and restored peace to Adoulin." like no achievement so far in the game have stated that would be a spoiler. And if they would release a list they could blur stuff like that out anyway.

Just there you devalue what I hope for and wishes and that's why I made this thread and asked if we could see a list. Nowhere in the initial thread have I stated that I want to hear about how achievements worked in other games, especially when it's been so odd in this game.

I devalued your ideas because those are achievements that could have been added in the past. After all we both agree FFXI is a special case and I'm sure if SE pushed it could have gotten MS to make exceptions on adding achievements I just don't think SE cared about adding them.

I was hoping to get a xbox 360 achievement list by now for SoA but haven't seen one. I guess there will be no achievements then? I thought every xbox retail game/expansion had to have achievements?

Doubt they all have to, but SoA does have them, if it were not clear by SE's achievements for the entire game all being listed as secret, or the fact that the company itself is extremely secretive about plans, I am sure it goes without saying that the list will not be given.

Well game data has been updated for the xbox 360, looks like there is no new achievements for the xbox 360 :(. Kind of weird though considering SE said multiple times they were considering adding them but they didn't.

As of now, there are only 1250 gamer points to achieve on the 360 version of the game, all of which are known. Check out my achievement guide here if you don't mind knowing what's been hidden - which, in my opinion, don't spoil anything in the game. With that, I also don't see the point in hiding all of the achievements for this game.

"Considering" is definitely not a yes. We can assume they'll be working on the possibility, but as far as I'm concerned, no new achievements means no new achievements. However, you can bet your ass that I will be updating that guide if they blow our minds and manage to implement an achievement list for the expansion later.

Yeah I hope they still do because I obtained them all 2 years ago and was really pumped when I heard seekers was announced because I thought more achievements would be added. They added them for WoTg late so I guess there is still a slim chance they could do it for seekers. Is there anyway the DEVS could let us all know if they are adding achievements in or not?

I think they're still debating on whether or not it would be worth the hassle with Microsoft. Microsoft has a very finnicky process when it comes to everything ever on their system. Add to the fact Square-Enix's disdain for the treatment of Final Fantasy XIV on the system (that is to say, MS wouldn't let them put the game on the system for Silver members like they did with FFXI so SE said "Fuck you" and decided on PS3 and PC only), I'm not so sure they're too worried about it.

But hey, they did say "considering!"

Yeah I don't think they want to add them either however I swear I read somewhere before that it is compulsory for an expansion of an xbox 360 game to have achievements. I know this link is not relevant as it discusses xbla policies.
