Bring back skilling up in Campaign Battle. Restore the desire to play in WOTG areas.

Something I would love to see again, is to see people come back to [s] and campaign battle again. I mean right now.. seems no one cares to much, since you really dont gain much anymore. I mean if you cant skill up. Whats the point? Yet when you have Besieged and Abyssea for super fast skill ups. Just seems the removal of skill up from Campaign is pointless and should be returned. (However you could still make it that you cant skill up off the towers/buildings) Just would love to see more life back in WOTG areas again.

I fully support this & would also like to suggest granting a temp retrace item to all players that participated in campaign battles once the battles end over having to waste 5-10 minutes running to an NPC.

It would be nice to have allied tags renewed automatically when capped or for them to remove the cap on exp also. It's annoying trying to renew tags with campaign mobs interrupting the event.

I am surprised not many more are chiming in for WOTG fun again?

I can't speak for others, but it was never fun for me, and being able to skill wouldn't help much, since you can still skill better in Abyssea.

I would like to see more interest in campaign as well. Skilling up would help some. I especially like the idea of the cap being removed, or tags being refreshed automatically. Hell, I'd be happy to just be able to check how much has built up, so you can renew them yourself once you've reached the cap.

campaign was a lot of fun. skilling up there would make thingsinteresting. a chance at good items would be pretty awesome too. maybe pulse cells?

Skill ups would not be enough, I fear. Getting to Abyssea is easier than getting to a town in the past, unless you happen to be a blm. Campaign battles need to be tracked. You might show up late to the fight and it will end right as you approach the enemies. Abyssea is always there and will not run away from you. Sometimes on attacking fights, all you get are fortifications, and it sucks. Abyssea does not suffer from these issues.

To make campaign battles popular again, you need more than just adding skillups into the mix. There are many ways this could be accomplished, but I recommend adding skillups, adding faster travel into the past, making fighting fortifications more engaging and rewarding, and improving the union loot drops a bit.

We need this, skill ups in campaign battle. Also please add new gears at 99 from campaign rewards. The best scenario would be you need to purchase the original gears, then upgrade to +1, +2 with heavy boosted stats. This will attract a lot of new people to do more campaign.

As long as said 'heavy boosted stats' are set only to campaign, most of the playerbase will continue to ignore them.

I seriously think that at some point in the distance past, there might have been some grand plan for campaign. But something happened (FF14???) and seems all said plan were dropped and campaign became just something out there.

Skillups in campaign would be wonderful!

I whole heartedly agree to this post. I was literally about to post the exact same topic until I saw this myself.

I just came back after ~3 years away and I arrived to a desolate Windurst Waters[S]. Those used to be so much fun and now nobody does them. I would love to see these get some love by the devs to make them more attractive.

Besides what the OP suggested (Skill ups) Campaign needs upgraded rewards as well. Lvl 90 ish armor and weapons as AN rewards. Offer relic pieces as Campaign rewards for Allied Notes etc. People would start doing it a lot more.

there really is no point in doing campaign anymore and I think that is the dev's intent. perhaps, years ago when campaign first came out, they might have some grand plan for it but it's deader then dead because having campaign specific armors/weapons are stupid because they just become inventory -x pieces so they can give you god mode for these armors/weapons and no one will do them unless they get rid of the campaign only flag on them.

if you really enjoy campaign, have a look at the SoA video, the sample battle looks to be VERY campaign like. You talk to NPC, get tag and then teleport to the area. mobs there appear to also have tag on them too. So I think instead of going back and try to revive campaign, the dev is doing something similar to a new battleground in SoA.

So you're basically saying square enix said oh hey you know that expansion we made you purchase? yeah its obsolete and mostly worthless but you are still required to install it because a lot of the new content in the game borrows from the zones added by that expansion. Our mission here at square enix is to screw you out of your money and make people forget the parts of the game they find joy in.

Name something from the entire WoTG that was actually worth getting/using? The only single item that is remotely decent is probably the WoTG mission reward. Other than that, the old iron ram set used to be decent for tank back then. Is the mission story decent? Sure, but it sure as hell wasn't 3 years decent for me.

As for inventory/storage, yeah, you can store it but then if you never take it out to use, you mind as well just toss it.

NHelm, NMail, Moonshade, the ring from the end of the Sandy path, Rose Grip, probably a few other items I can not think of off the top of my head.

I'll give you Rose Grip, but that's only on certain job/build. But both Nocturnus has better alternatives. Moonshade is the WoTG reward that I've already mentioned. There used to be an MAB ammo too but that too has a better alternative now but I can even give you that one as well. My point here is that considerating how much time and how many zones made up WoTG, it's pretty sad how little are worth doing anymore.

No it doesn't, they are the best absorbing damage for those spots, look up the optimum DT sets for the jobs on it, its in those sets because due to recent gear you can cap DT while putting in items like those with Absorption and others like the Shadow Mantle which straight up null the damage.

As for there being little rewards, of course, its level 75 content, the only part meant for level 90 is the story which was stretched out way to long it ended up being there for the earring to be level 90. Its like saying there are few rewards from CoP or RotZ, the only worthwhile things are from the end of the missions or in the case of RotZ, Divine Might. Its content and rewards from 24 levels ago, things do not often last that long. I think they should add some new level 99 stuff to campaign and redo it like many other events, but to say its all worthless makes it sounds like other expansions are any different.

Let's see, for battle system (not including any of the BCNM/KCNM/etc for now):

ToAH has NI -> NNI, Salvage -> Neo Salvage, Einherjar -> Neo Einherjar. Assault produced some very good gears for back then but those are mostly all been replaced now. All the Neo version has current gears. Beseiged can still provide very quick low level exp and a few skillups opportunity. PW is in here too.

CoP/ZM has Dynamis (Dreamlands), Sky, Sea/Limbus -> Neo Limbus. Augmentations keep sky still decently useful even to this day. Limbus has some mage gears that are still useful/important. Neo Limbus added some more side graded items. Both mission final rewards has something similar to Moonshade. AV here.

WoTG - Campaign??? Most of the 'good gear' back in the 75 days were Campaign locked. Yes, there were a few exceptions but there really isn't any battle system at all. The Campaign Op/Mission/BC has provided some interesting battles/gears but no one do any of these any more because of the effort required to turn some of the zones.

No you're right campaign serves absolutely no purpose now. Which is why it should be given gear that doesn't suck or is worth getting. And the campaign only locks on the gear should be removable via quests or through say experience gained during campaign battles?

Almost every piece of gear in every event you mentioned from level 75 is not used today. Gear in the level 99 revamp versions are, but then again its an unfair comparison to WotG because WotG has gotten no such reboot on its content.

We are currently working to make it so you can once again skill-up in Campaign. ;)

While it might be difficult to implement in the next version update, we will be sure to let you know when we can add this into the game.

The only important question is... What level will these mobs be treated as? Will we be able to cap skills at 99 (unlikely) or reach 75 caps?

For that matter, Sync parties. It could be set to where you maintain skill cap at your sync'd level, but still skill up.

Thank you for this. Maybe now the past won't be overrun by Beastmen and it will bring some people back to that content.

I loved campaign back in the day. I had lots of fun on pld/dnc mostly, but also ninja, sch/thf (flee, accession, cure4, kite all the things) but I've tried and tried and I can't find the fun in it anymore.

I'd say something something about higher level fortifications but adoulin has its own walls to attack that are barely getting touched.

Make skill caps based on zones. Outside citys would be lowest cap midways zones would be split up between intermediate and mid level caps while outlands,strongholds and citys would be max cap levels. Or could have strong holds high cap like 400 while outlands and and in citys max. Though that way might be a prob if to many people are doing outlands at the same time constantly.

They should just let you skill up anywhere based on the mobs level.....
