I Know NOTHING about Red Mage. (Un-weaken)

However a lot of people have said it is pretty useless nowadays, or at least less useful or desirable in a party situation than other jobs.

But how about giving them an exclusive ability that allowed them to remove the Weakened status effect?

This is almost certainly a stupid idea, as I really don't know enough about RDM. But just a thought, might make it an attractive job, especially for alliances.

The only way Weakness should be removed other than NIN 2-hour is WHM's 2-hour.

RDM needs alot, but it doesn't need this.

SE will give this to RDM, and RDMs will rejoice...!

Until they see that it's self-cast only.

RDM had its time and spotlight, and now, its out of it, and to be frank, who was there when the BLMs, PUPs, and BLUs couldn't get a party in ToAU and RDMs monopolized them practically? Nobody. So as far as I'm concerned, RDMs have had this a long time coming and its just time to accept it and wait to see how the next expansion rewards you. Because RDM is destined to be an enfeeble/enhancing job, and that is where it should be. Yet to be more specific to the topic, removing weakness wouldn't be bad, but in all honesty, thats not much of a reason for me to bring a RDM to the party. They need something that makes them potentially worth while because most elitists out there would say "You don't need a RDM, you just need to die less" what they need to do is give a trait or some sort or an ability that avoids enfeeble/elemental resistances and allows RDM specifically to land enfeebles. That or something along those lines will pull the job out of the dirt. Yet with so many wankers out there pulling the job in multiple directions other than what it was actually purposed for (Non-DD), it probably won't see that light of the day for a while. Looking at youtube videos, when geared correctly. RDM still does what it has always done. I've watched RDMs solo the abyssean behemoth. Apamedak and Chloris and many, many other monsters.

Just takes great gear and skill but I've seen it before. True; they have little purpose in updated content but I don't think anyone has solely RDM leveled anymore so that's not a complete issue.

As mentioned jobs like BLM, PUP, BST, BLUs used to never be able to get a spot in a party. And only two of those jobs can still get a spot now.

The reason that RDM doesn't get a spot in a party is not because RDM is a bad job, but because elitists say RDM is a bad job, and everyone else believes them.
I recently did a bunch of HKCNMs (A Mobline Comedy), and the first 2 runs failed miserably because the non-relic or empy PLD kept dying whilst super-tanking. For runs 3-6, the RDM grabbed all of the mobs instead and had no issues what-so-ever in supertanking all of the mobs while we picked them off one at a time, using the PLD to do what little curing was required.

There were a lot of people complaining that Geomancer was going to take the place of RDM, but they were wrong. Rune Fencer is taking the place of RDM, as the magic-based tank.

As for the OP, removing weakened would be a 'na spell. 'Na spells go to WHM, so this would likely be yet another idea taken from the RDM forums (well, it should have been in the RDM forums) and used on another job.

That doesn't make Rdm useful, that just means your Pld was useless

Quite, no job should handle Magic better than PLD now, even without an Aegis. It's why I can see Rune Fencer falling flat on it's face.

Silver bullet fixes like the one proposed by the OP are absolutely terrible game design and should not be given any serious consideration.

One of the big problems is that RDM was supposed to be a jack-of-all trades job, but with this endgame content being ~18 people, it's more efficient to just get 3-4 people that are better than RDM at everything it can do.

The job's main specialty, enfeebling magic, is near useless with most endgame content. Additionally, other jobs can do it "good enough" with other benefits.

RDM might have a better chance if the enfeebling magic revamp makes the spells useful enough to warrant RDM again. The best fix to make the job more wanted would be to make that job exclusively better at landing certain enfeebles, but I think this is where the trouble began (since it would be too easy to gravity/sleep/bind and nuke kite tough NMs).
It's a tough situation for RDM and these new jobs aren't making anyone more confident in this job.

RDM only has a single niche and it hasn't changed....ever. Are you good at CSS? Can you lock a mob down from being able to execute it's TP moves for 30 seconds and is that long enough for your alliance to zerg it down? The answer can be NO just because the mobs don't have TP moves that can be reasonably stunned. Even off your 2 hour, you can still stun less than every 10 seconds easily when properly geared and buffed.

Seem like a one trick pony? Well that's because that's all that 'jack-of-all-trades' talk boils down to. When you're not in an alliance, you can do whatever you want. But just don't expect to be invited for it because SE didn't intend you to succeed that way and other players are just selfish. I play a RDM that solos/low mans and enjoys it. But I'm not stupid enough to think that RDMs get into alliances because they are needed.

Don't even suggest unweaken for RDM. It will go to Geomancer......or Scholar......or WHM......or BLM.....or BLU......or PUP.....or even Rune Knight before it comes to RDM.

Yup. A VW group of 18 needs exactly 0 RDMs to have all procs and perma stun.

Fixing enfeebling wont fix RDM. It'll just make WHM/BLM even more useful.

So unless RDM is going to get new and unique enfeebles, then fixing enfeebling will change nothing.

VW yeah like that's even remotely interesting content. Hey guys match the procs so that the mob just doesn't want to do anything because the fight is so boring. Wow, what a great system. It certainly wasn't the reason I got bored enough to quit this game for Diablo for a month....

I don't understand, looking at the legion drops, I see a lot of good reward and upgrade to previous gear....I see a new DA grip with higher DA, see a new snapshot feet, bloodpact dmg+ earring etc....as far as I know, majority of Abj gears are also upgrade(at least entire T.abj set is an upgrade to old gear in the slot)

I can easily name 3~4 gears from legion that is an upgrade to Mirabelle's job(COR) in signature.

Not to mention some drops can sell for gil.

Saying ppl do Legion not for reward is totally inaccurate IMO.

If it's because LS leader/sack get to lot them all, then it's LS problem, not legion's problem. Find a new LS, make your own LS etc.

Every NM killed dropped something in pool, half of them dropped gear, and those drops doesn't go to ppl that can't equip like VW. Each NM takes 1~3 min to zerg down like VW, and you can spam it all day with no wait time. It seems to have higher drop rate than VW to me.

If it's because it has higher gear/organization/job setup/amount of players needed as requirement, all I can say is event is there for ppl to challenge, overcome the obstacles, and enjoy the satisfication after you beat it, not there to hand out items.

I am quite sure there is still a lot of items that should drop from legion which still haven't been reported to have actually dropped, which means getting the items isn't as easy as you're making it out to be. Fairly certain the few good items are locked out from final wave/titles iirc. The rest aren't worth doing the event for aside from higher arise/meteor drop and once again... that's not enough to convince groups to do it for 2 scrolls.
