Adjustments to Tu'Lia Notorious Monsters

Good morning!

First and foremost, thank you for giving us the option of augmenting our existing Tu'Lia gear through synergy! This is a neat way of breathing some life into content that had been irrelevant for quite some time.

When the game was released, I can understand that the NMs in Sky were intended to be difficult to pop in order to keep the battles and their rewards exciting. These days, this is no longer the case. There are many players that would like to augment their existing abjuration gear, and due to the ease of killing the trigger NMs, Sky has once again become a bottleneck for some players.

I would like the development team to look into the following solution to the problem that is currently being experienced.

Firstly, the spawn timer on the roaming NM Zipacna should either be adjusted to 10-15 minutes, or the NM should be changed to a forced spawn from items dropped by the Enkidu in Ve'Lugannon palace. The drop rate on the item "Ro'Maeve Water" should also be increased to coincide with this change.

The NM Faust should be changed in a similar fashion. Due to the shortage of Doll-type mobs in his spawn area, perhaps any of the dolls inside the Shrine of Ru'Avitau could have the chance of dropping the pop item.

Despot should be spawned with an item dropped by the Groundskeeper mobs where he currently spawns.

The item "Curtana" should be a drop from any weapon-type mob in Sky.

Dustbusters inside Ve'Lugannon palace should drop an item that can be used to spawn Steam Cleaner.

Detectors in any area of Tu'Lia should drop a pop item for Mother Globe.

Diorite drop rate should be adjusted to be higher.

These changes will have a very positive impact on the players that are wishing to get more of their gear augmented. The only people that would potentially be negatively affected by this change are the players who are monopolizing the NMs for Gil, but with cruor farming, crafting, dynamis, and salvage, there are plenty of other ways to make money that aren't bottlenecking the players that are in sky for the betterment of their character and their friends characters.

Another positive side effect of this change is that it would give players more options of things to do in game.

How about this.

Instead of nerfing the system. Give it a bump in difficulty and make it a challenge again to lvl 99 players. Add a few new/relevant drops and poof you have fun/challenging content with worthwhile/exciting rewards

I agree with OP for the most part. I'm okay with the current droprate on diorite and water, and not everything needs to be force-spawned. Although, I think the current time-spawned NMs should spawn much faster than two hours. It's quite disheartening to find a NM to be dead and up to a two hour wait for it. Thirty minutes would be perfect. A few tweaks to spawn times would make sky much less of a hassle.

As you said, let old content stay old, myself I like that Sky has not changed much, people who never got to do it when it was the thing to do can be shown the old ways, and there are good rewards still which give incentive to do these NMs. Shorter time would be nice but it takes away from the old endgame we still have which is fading fast, sometimes you like to keep things the same, if for nothing more than memorys.

As for the OP, as some would say let old content stay old. The only problem that has arisen lately from sky has been genbu pops due to Kirins pole augments for Embrava needing genbus seals, which in turn has created a ZIPACNA bottleneck. Sky itself is fine as it is, if anything needs to be changed, its what seals can be used to grant the enhancing magic skill + to the Kirins pole, and/or Zipacna's spawn conditions.

Nostalgia is a powerful poison that pollutes the objectivity of even the best of us. Most likely what you are actually yearning for is the virgin experience of ffxi, alas your cherry has long since been popped. The majority of players would both enjoy and benefit from this change, alas, the vocal minority often stand in the way of the improvement of a broken and unpleasant system.

As far as the comment regarding a "nerf" to the current Tu'Lia NMs is concerned, a reduction in difficulty of killing the afformentioned Notorious Monsters was never requested, merely an adjustment to the conditions required to challenge said beasts.

Kirin was at least hard, hell Kirin now is probably harder than Qilin, procs kill everything that makes Qilin possible to be fun... thats also not all gods seeing as even him summoning them is the same as Kirin so I don't count it. For Zilart what the should have done is 6 T1 6 T2 and then have 4 T3 & a T4, have Qilin as T4, have him drop lv99 versions of his old drops, have T3s all the other gods and have them drop lv99 versions of their drops, would have been better for VW imo so long as drops weren't painfully BS...

There are two types of VWNMs.

Jokes, and ones that make jokes out of you. There's no middle-ground here.
Remove all pet-based procs, reduce the effects/durations of staggers, reduce enfeebling magic immunities, and you'll have a ton of disgruntled players complaining that crap is too hard. Which for a few NMs, might be true.

But really, when you're at Lv99, and you've got a strategy online for every mob in the game, at what point can things not get easier?

Camp it or buy the seal/scraps. Same thing with mericiful cape, theres a bottleneck there too, maybe that should be force spawned as well...oh yea, it is. I hate that everything has to be laid out on a silver platter. Either camp the NM or buy the pop/scraps/seal.

And actually this makes even more sense being you already know its part of the player market and people use it to make money, meaning you should have every opportunity to buy it from your competitors should you not get the NM when it pops.

Wanting something on a silver platter =\= wanting an outdated system to be fixed. Saying that someone should just go farm cruor or whatever to buy a pop item for a completely unrelated game region is absurd. There are a lot of flawed game design elements that remain in FFXI, and as the dev team cleans them up, the Tu'Lia region is a zone that should not be overlooked.

While some of the things in this post will probably never happen. Ultimately I agree with the overall concept you are presenting and the Development Team should consider implementing the majority of these suggested adjustments.

My point of view on it is these spawns are not as bad as some, the items you want are farmable and buyable, they are not KIs or R/EX, you mentioned it would effect the player market (taking away 1 thing that is used to make money by severely reducing its value) but others who are looking to buy can make money via all the same ways you suggested. If its changed so be it, it will kill off one thing from the old endgame, and it will give people less things to sell, on the other hand it will give more people the ability to this gear & augment it. So far as buying them goes I don't understand how its unrelated, it is part of the market, making these go from current timers to abyssea style(which is what your asking for) would effectively kill this part of said market. You listed many ways one can make money, as such one could make money in this way and then buy the pops, it would be effectively the same thing only you and them are doing different things to attain the same goal. They are killing sky NMs and your getting money, then you pay them for the pops and they have money, if it is changed then you will farm your pops and they will get their money, either way same outcome.

As I said, I don't mind the idea, it would be nice, but at the same time it changes something that in my eyes doesn't seem as bad as you make it out to be. They can be bought, so there is a way around this problem you have already, however the timers you ask for are probably to short as well, as I said, they are abyssea, NMs pre-abyssea were not often with timers under 1 hour especially timed pops! Abyssea changed this, and it made sense for it due to 2 main reasons. 1:The majority of these NMs held KIs needed for either Emp, or +2 NMs, this would have been chaos without 10~15min timers. 2:You are timed, if you weren't timed then it might be different, but you are and you only have at most 2hours excluding TEs, you cannot afford to wait it out camping the NMs.

To sum up, I'm not with or against your idea, it makes sense but I see it as unnecessary in the end, if it does or doesn't happen there are already ways to come to terms with your problem even if by a different and possibly more time taking method.

That was part of my point though, honestly most Qilin partys I ever have been in Qilin is proced in the first 10 seconds, the next time hes performing an animation, its of his death. I know by looks & location Qilin is "Kirin 2.0" but fighting him, I cannot see that weakling as a lv99 version of Kirin. Kirin at 75 put up a fight, Qilin at 99 barely gets to attack you a few times before its over.

I don't know why Qilin keeps being brought up, Voidwatch isn't sky farming, its just an event that has been dropped there to 'revitalize' the zone as SE says.

@ the person who decided to fix my you're as a response to me saying you were wrong, /clap, I'm glad you found one thing wrong my post, too bad it wasn't on the topic.

And even if the pops can be bought, its ridiculous still, on my server a genbu's seal is averaging over a mil, while the gem of the north as well is peaking 2mil from certain sellers, Zipacna is on lockdown by the JPs almost all hours lol. Using their zoom zoom bots and clippers to get thru walls, Call Gms and they don't do shit most often about it, as i said, if anything about old content in Tu'Lia needs to be fixed its only Zipacna.

Qilin is being brought up in response to the Sky2.0 idea, Qilin is basically Kirin2.0 already, being in VW or not. VW just gives us a way to pop it without the problems you are giving for current Sky, the farming of these items to pop the NMs in general. Qilin is almost exactly the same as Kirin down to the fact it spawns mini-gods, all that would need to have been done is make them stronger and spread out and a Sky2.0 would have been simple.

I am not on Valefor so I'm not sure how the situation is over there with the NMs, I am only giving experience from Phoenix. We have no real problems with overly camping those NMs here, Phoenix seems to have maybe 1~2 people at those NMs at any time and thats rare for me to see. During the times me & 1 of my ls-mates camp the NMs we normally afk alot because there is no comp we can simply wait it out and when it pops probably have a hour before someone else will take it. However if it is as bad as you say I completely understand your problem, and why you want a change. GMs helping is something that is universal I think, I have seen GMs tell me to goto Community Websites rather than help me themselves. That shield is good though so I do know why its camped so much, just seems like hell over there where you are so I can see it being a concern.

I'm saying harder, not hard, Kirin is easy too, but Qilin normally ends up standing in 1 spot while the DDs goto hell on him and mages keep him proced. Also your saying lv99 vs lv75 Kirin. I'm talking about lv75 vs 75 and 99 vs 99. Qilin does not seem like a lv99 Kirin because Kirin at 75 was a bitch compared to Qilin now.

I'm just saying why does everything need a nerf instead of a boost. Let's make these things a challenge again instead of dumbing it down even more.

I would really like to see a changed to timed pop NMs in Sky. Having recently discovered that it's very difficult to get Zipacna, even when you're home. Let alone when you work. Having camped several pops recently, I'm always competing against several others (usually BST). That's fine but then to have to wait another 2-4 hours for a repop and then fail to get the damn mob starts to grate.

Synergy and the ability to augment sky items has meant that there is quite a demand for seals. Having THF and being able to farm up Ro'maeve water fairly fast, solo Olla and then be unable to pop Genbu because I can't get a Zip claim is a bit frustrating. I don't mind paying for items, especially a I can farm Dyna but I don't know how many seals I'm going to need. Right now, Genbu seals cost 500-800k each. Gem of the North costs 800k+.

30 min pop might solve it but more realistically make it as the OP says and let us farm up items to pop the NMs. Zip doesn't need his own Aery.
