A possible fix for blue mage (please read this Dev team.)

One of the biggest issues most blue mages face in game currently is the impossibility of having to reset spells alot in voidwatch.

What I propose is that blue mages gain an ability similar to strategems that allows them access to any spell on their list without having the benefits of having the spell set.
I suggest 6 charges with a recast on charges of 1 minute each.

This should balance blue mage with other mage jobs that need to cast spells to attempt to stagger voidwatch notorious monsters.

Discussion or suggestions on improving/developing this idea are welcomed.

I agree with a JA, but on a 1.30 timer and with no charges...

That said: The argument is you should have multiple BLU's to share the load.

That is never going to happen.

As to op: No. It would be better if the procs for blue mage were reduced like they were back shortly after Aby came out.

If they did as you suggested than an inevitable nerfing would follow.

It isn't anyway, most BLU's would much rather set all DD spells than aim for a proc (not that I'm denying there is way to much spells.)

Doesn't change the argument that you should have multiple BLU's.

There's a season to rape, a season to proc. For every season a turn, turn, turn... Okay, enough butchering classic songs for me XD

But, yeah. A BLU can't be all DD all the time and if a BLU refuses to their proper role of the moment they deserved to be kicked.

Edit to add: I agree there should be at least 2 BLU for procs, but for the most part people don't want to go out of their way to get them.

Odin server - 2 BLU's is a standard.

Firstly, I must appologise for not replying to the responses here sooner.
Secondly, I would like to see more alliances bringing 2 blue mages along, and odin sounds like a good server to be on if you're a blue mage that likes to do voidwatch.
Thirdly, A single ability with a 1 minute 30 timer would be wonderfull, my initial idea must have sounded monstrously overpowered (but it seemed like a fun idea for blue mage at the time).
Fourthly(is that even a word? lol), I'm sure reducing the number of spells to test with blu could work out well.

For the reason that our spells give us not only STAT bonuses, but also, traits.

If this were to be implemented either:
A: all of your stats and traits would be nullified for that time being a universal gimp.
B: you would gain all traits and abilities being practically a god for that duration.

That being said, I still stand by the notion of reducing the spell cool down, but as a trait that only applies to 99. And this could be meritable if need be.

Have they announced any fixes to our broken spells yet or did they already fix them in a prior update? Example: Tourbillion

Tourbillion may not be broken, it's probably not 100% chance to land the additional effect. Another explanation is that the help text is incorrect and it's "Chance of defense down varies with TP" not 'Duration of effect varies with TP". If it's the former, it's probably a low chance to land without TP and thus you'd need Efllux or CA to proc the defense down, similar to how Quadrastrike never crits unless you use it with TP. Since the def down is so potent(more so than Angon and that's a merited JA that costs gil to use whereas Tourbillion is free) it could be the chance of it landing isn't high to begin with. If you want a consistant defense down, use Bilgestorm. Since Tourbillion and Bilgestorm both lower target's defense and both share the same 5min cooldown and are pretty close in level, I think SE gave BLUs the option of either a 25% defense down that's extremely accurate or 33% defense down that's inaccurate. If Tourbillion was as accurate as Bilgestorm, Bilgestorm would be obsolete. Balance.

I thought Bilgestorm inflicted multiple status effects as well. Not sure off the top of my head, but I think they are ACC down and Attack down as well. Interesting thought that it may not be broken.

yea but the issue is not it simply being inaccurate i believe its chance to land is floored on all targets regardless of your macc and there mevasion, we have a few other spells with similar issues barbed crescent for instance. It seems more likely se messed up there math somewhere than intending a spell we can only use once every 5 mins to have like a 10% chance to land its add effect, especially with its tp effect being duration of effect and not chance to land.

Well I'm arguing that it could be a typo similar to how Mordent Rhime used to say "Added Slow" but it was actually "Added Gravity" and there were other cases of BLU spells in the past getting their help box edited because of mistranslations. Exenterator's Accuracy Down effect was fixed after Byrnoth complained enough too I believe.

alot of blu spells need fixing still if this one got fixed blus threat level would raise a bunch on nms as are melee spells would start breaking the def barrier on them, not to mention what it would do for req.

I see BLU's new two-hour looks to allow you to cast any spell under "Unbridled Learning" multiple times, would have been better to just be all BLU spells.

Fucking worthless lol. Won't even be able to do something cool with it, like spam cast Bloodrake or Pyric Bulwark for a faux-invincible, and the one spell that it'd be handy for is broken.

10gil says it'll last for 30 seconds and all Unbridled spells recast are 30 seconds.

Honestly (not sure if its been recommended) but i see this as a simple fix, allow blu to cast all spells and use the points for the added stats of the spells and unlocking JA's. This would solve problem for VW and resetting spells. It also keeps blu from being overpowered with JA. Yes this gives blu a very large selection of magic but our limited pool should keep that from being OP.
