That's kind of the point though. We're not even talking about the game anymore. We're talking about just paying for the game--or no longer paying for the game.

It's just weird. People don't just disagree about how the game should and should not be--they do battle over it. "This job is too powerful!" "That job is not powerful enough!" "Give us more Abyssea!!" "No more Abyssea please!!" "Thx for the Jeanvirgaud adjustment!!!" "Leave Jeanvirgaud alone!!!" People argue about this game with such fervor that it's almost like a religion--or conflicting religions.

And yet never before has the playerbase been as unified as it is now. Are there those who, how shall I say, defend those who take advantage of them? Of course there are; there always will be people like that; it's a calculated gambit. At a glance, I'm saying they're a minority. Most aren't just saying they're upset; they're putting it all on the line--demanding more payment options or quitting for good. That kind of ultimatum has been said at game adjustments from minor to overhaul; some are just empty threats, and yet here we are at consolidated servers. Now we're talking giving our credit card information to BBB "F" rated companies, being overcharged, and paying 3rd parties fees just for paying for the game, while Japanese customers are put through no such trials. There's no precedent to say what's going to happen.

The OP and I have not seen eye-to-eye on discussions about the game itself, yet we've both made threads about where this is going. Just give us more payment options, so we can all put this ugly incident behind us, so we can go back to hating each other again. I find all this agreement extremely disagreeable.

Should SE nerf blah blah blah? or does it even matter anymore.

Really shouldn't go by anything the BBB scores. A local buy here pay here lemon car lot were I live was a member and had a B from them. Thats after he been fined for using saw dust and banana peels to quiet valve tapping and transmission slipping.

Not saying C&B might not be a steaming pile but so is the BBB. Right now though would be a good time to pull a wag the dog.

BBB doesn't mean a company is perfect. BUt it does mean they do well considering how much business they do, as opposed to a successful fraud.

Even without BBB, there's negative reviews out there of both companies SE has as bed-mates.

Frankly, I don't see how FFXI can survive without the current payment plans undergoing significant modification to what they have planned.

On topic, I see the OP's point. The sooner we see an announcement about payments, the sooner we can start killing each other about the game itself. But in a way, talking about whatever wine and circuses they have planned merely diverts us from what and how we must pay for such festivities.

SE doesn't really know how to shift publicity.

Ask a President of the United States, you need to do something GOOD after doing something bad.

Then the bad thing practically goes away.

Outside of BBB being crap that if your a member and pay thier fees the rating matters very little I don't have any right to complain. Its only a 5 cent increase for me and in my postion still dollar for dollar the best entertainment option I have even if I didn't have the 2 mules.

for all you guys know those comments are not even from customers just people who just troll. ffxiv had a well lets say daja vu. But people didn't say shady, they didn't know whst click and buy was. And held patitions for at least a mnth on the forums. Which is why I'm sorta upset right now I got to deal with this a second time "yahh.~~~~"

I hope things cool down soon. And go back to normal I just want to reconnect with my mates from years pastr and re learn the game. All this rage is making it hard to even post anything. People go into threads just to insult the poster for not raging with them.

anyway, I hope SE lets rdm melee a bit better. It a shame rdm was always a melee caster. : /

Most people who are complaining are complaining because others are. It keeps growing because of the mob mentality that most people have.

Well, now that you guys have your pitchforks, are you really going to start waving at the monster? I bet that most of you won't.

This is a minor inconvenience, for most of you, a one time only inconvenience. People who quit over this are incredibly shallow and this is just an excuse to quit. But I'm sure that most people who quit will just come back in a couple of months anyway.

Maybe if you were capable of actually comprehending the problems of others you'd have seen the multitude of posts by people that DO NOT want to quit but will be forced to due to the new billing system not accepting the form of payment they've used to play the game for years and years, or other complications such as those facing EU players, or whatever other financial burden the new system brings. All because of one thing: SQUARE-ENIX TOOK AWAY THE ABILITY TO SIMPLY PAY THEM DIRECTLY.

You and the other few SE apologists need to take off your fanboy blinders and look at the very real problems facing many of your fellow players. Oh right, you don't give a crap about your fellow players. Never mind, carry on only giving a damn about yourself and your own little world. As long as it doesn't affect you, everything's perfect.

i know full on well what is going on here. This is not the first time i was thrown into this. I do feel sympathy for those who may not get to play anymore. But there is stuff people can do and questions to ask. No one is asking them. Simple as that. You guys are assuming you have to quit, and not asking any questions.

And all you are doing is just flinging insults at everyone who just do not enjoying what is happening on the forums. A minority is being upset about unable to pay because neither option is accepted in their area. The majorty are those who are just upset and even though they can use either or both options choosing not to.

You accuse me of not reading but you yourself haven't read anything. Square Enix already stated that there will be no extra charge to your bill (no hidden fees from Click and Buy) if you use them to pay for this game. The only way you will get for services outside of FFXI. You know, when you actually use Click and Buy for something else.

Yes, it sucks that SE took out our ability to pay them directly, but there must be a reason for it. Maybe they are trying to save a little money from the cost to keep a dying game up? Maybe they are having problems with International Banking Laws (which could still be a reason why JP players are able to keep paying directly thru PoL). Until they tell us, we can only speculate. Point being, they are doing this now, and complaining about it will not help you at all.

SE and I never really see eye-to-eye on things, so I doubt I would call myself a fanboy. However, I can't stand the stupidity that has been happening because of this whole "OMG SE is changing the system, we all hate change and must resist it for all our might and threaten to do something we won't do anyway" scenario that we are in now. Quitting over a minor change is downright stupid, and going full ballistic mob mode like most of the people here are doing is also just as stupid.

Oh, and on a side note, every tag here that has nothing to do with this thread will be deleted.

actually no. I do know how they feel. This is the second time I've been through this anti click and buy/crysta forum rage. FFXIV had it back in september. Here is what you do not seem to get. There is no need to insult anyone or attack anyone. Not all of us are enjoying your attitudes. And some of it is a bit uncalled for.

Trust me I know how much it sucks to not get to play ffxi because of lack of payment options. I can sypmathize with those who can't use either option. I can not sypathize with those who CAN use the options who are having poor attitudes. Anbd those are the only people I was ever talking to/about.

I'd like to know when the update is though. It'd be awesome if it was in August. Then we'd all definitely get to play it before the dreaded September 1st for some. :D At least for a couple of days, yeah? Get to 95, play with new toys, then poof.

the reason for the change is they are no longer really using playonline as a "network" they will only use it as a lobby to connect to the game. We were psying playonline, not really SE in a sence. Playonline was a middle man.

the way japanese set up money is much different then us and eu. they callulate yen differently then we do our money.

like buying manga is 500 yen (fake number used as an example of yen) where over here it would be $12.88 ( a fake number used as an example to show a difference)

meaning they can pay in exact ammount because of their curreceny, and how they set it up.

Well, the update can be in either August or September, but sooner they get the notes out, the faster the subject matter will change. Nice thing about mob mentality, when you start flashing lights against the wall, they will pounce on them like kittens.

i hope augest is for both ffxi and ffxiv patches :) ffxiv is getting chocobo finaly in 1.19 (yay) I just hope they list the actual job changes. All they list was "we might do this or this, or this and this"

nothing in that listing was really concrete.

I never said anything about myself. In fact, I'm in no such position. I simply pointed out that a growing number of PEOPLE (plural, you see) are more concerned with the fact that they may possibly never be able to play again due to circumstances beyond their control.
When I said "I never said 'quit'" it was because somehow you took that statement and turned it into "people are quitting over this, that's a bad reason to quit, crybabies, blah blah blah," to paraphrase what you said.

Again. This is not the issue. What you said is irrelevant.

This is not what's forcing many people to quit. You're blind to this because you're not actually reading any of the anecdotes people are sharing about their personal circumstances and why their banks will not let them use Click and Buy, their form of payment is not accepted by Click and Buy, it isn't accepted in their region when previously they had no problems paying SE directly, etc.

For proof of your indifference toward your fellow player look no further than this thread and your reasons for starting it. It's essentially: "Release some update notes so I don't have to hear these people whine about their problems." Look around. Actually give a damn.

Good for you, you won't quit because you aren't from that list of countries Click and Buy won't accept transactions from. Which means for those who are from a country on that list, there is no other method of payment....oh wait (in case you missed it, this is sarcasm again).

People who are against this have stated that the reason why they are mad is the principle of the change. That is still a weak excuse because the change is going to happen, and the principle of the change is beyond them. We don't know why they are changing, but we can all agree that this is not for malicious intent. They didn't choose Click and Buy because it has a list of countries that they agree should not play this game, they choose Click and Buy because it offered the least amount of issues with the least amount of cost....most likely. I'm not sure why they choose Click and Buy over Paypal.

An excess of misspellings and contentions without foundations may be the indication of a lack of education, or an inability to benefit from an education. Whether such trolling is calculated stupidity or genuine mental lurching is neither here nor there. No amount of reason will sway a deeply held conviction, whether it's genuinely felt or not. While they have the right to express their views, we are not obliged to listen. There comes a point when you've heard enough, and the game is over. I have. The ignore list was created for a reason. On topic, payment issues not withstanding, I'd like to see what we're gonna be paying for. Even if they payments are made easier, will the content be worth it?

I heard awhile back about an all-in-one instrument for bard through Synergy. I'm hoping we'll see it at last.
