Spawn timers for old content

I think spawn timers for the NMs involved in some of the older quests are too long, considering how the game has changed in terms of availability of items. Particularly in abyssea, the game more or less throws items at you, but for some jobs where some desirable pieces are found in the "old world", there is a very huge gap in time investment needed.

I hadn't really given this stuff much thought before recently because i was like "well there's always something good in abyssea", but a few days ago a dude i know who had never played FF11 before started the game, and he thought monk was a super awesome job. Now, I'm not even going to talk about Black Belt in this thread, because that's been brought up a zillion times already, and it is maybe the best belt in the game so it is sort of understandable that it requires as much time as it does. What I'm think is bad is that getting the only acceptable "second best" monk belt (brown belt) for a new player is to spend twice as long as he has spent playing up until this point, idling in a cave, a glaicer, and mountain range, hoping to outclaim/outlot half a dozen other players who still want the same items. Just to get a single item.

This isn't a thread just about "lol brown belt is too hard". I don't think this is the kind of first impression the "new FF11" should give to virgin players. There's already so many time sinks in this game already, I think most old content timed NMs should have their spawn significantly reduced. Waiting for a pop simply isn't fun, isn't challenging, it is just frustrating. Abyssea shows that the dev team agrees with this, considering the respawn timers there are either really really short, or the NMs are force popped with easily available items.

All I'm asking the developers to consider is a reduction of spawn timers in old content too. It doesn't have to be reduced down to abyssea-levels of 15-30 minutes repop, I just think it's a bit crazy that the older the content is, the longer it takes to complete it. Especially when the time it takes to complete it has nothing to do with challenge or difficulty.

They sorta had to agree with it. Abyssea is a time restricted zone, and when you have an entire server fighting for pops because it's the only end game right now for cap levels and because it's far more accessible than previous end game you kinda have to give in and lower respawn timers.

If Abyssea taught us anything, it was to appreciate long respawn timers and low drop rates. Everyone wearing basically the same exact gear is getting pretty tame and boring to look at everyday. It's spoiled people to the point that they get all pissy when they have to assert themselves to farm Empyrean feet which is like the only difficult thing to farm in all of Abyssea aside from a few odd ball NMs that are a major pain to low man.

So, ya know, I agree. It blows to wait around for hours at a time. It's a huge waste of time. But ultimately the rewards are worth it, at least in the game world. Just don't get high hopes over them lowering respawn timers in the "real world" because they've been doing it in Abyssea. If HNM changes taught us anything, it's that they rather make us farm seals than lower respawn timers. So you can make an incredible and passionate plea to them to make changes and it can sound all great and stuff but their bottom line is this: this content has been around for 9 years. Countless players have gone through these NM camping trials. Why slap them in the face?

They changed Dynamis but really things like Dynamis needed to be fooled around with so people will want to do it again. And it doesn't count as "real world" anyway. Maybe they should ease up on NM timers. But consider this: Who the hell would play long term if they could get anything they want with ease? Look at WoW. God. I can think of multiple friends who have played that game on and off over the years because they will constantly quit it with nothing to entice them to stick around. I know one person who defends it to death, bragging that it's so good that they've lol "came back to it 5 times" yeah it's so good that you quit it 4 times already.

Anyways, it's something to consider. Whether we like it or not the time sinks with nice rewards are what keeps us playing. Maybe it's a pro. Maybe it's a con. Depends on the person. Personally I feel the timers should stay as is. The content has been established for ages now. But hey, SE doesn't seem to have a problem messing with HNMs or their payment methods after 9 years so they might as well throw in NMs in general to boot.

yeah, but there's also the issue where they have such a long timer, and a rather worthless item... or a good item, on a large respawn, with an extremely low drop rate... that alone actually aggregate's me... in those case's, it really shouldn't be lower than 50%. The more common the NM, the lower the drop rate too. They just didn't balance them out to well. And maybe they should make nm's on a large timer with a rare/ex item for a quest(like for brown belt) drop the item for each person in the party.

Im all for thing's taking effort to get,(and against how they're making everything so much easier now since abyssea) but that can just be ridiculous.

If they need to change something, it's lottery pop NM, you have to wait for the window and then go for casino hunting.
I don't mind waiting 3h, if the NM appears at the first repop.

They should change Tiamat from 72-120hrs to 48-72, i mean it can be duo/trio now.

I agree w/ the OP 100%, NMs outside of abyssea could use an adjustment. It just seems a little silly to me when abyssea's NMs have marginally better things to drop, even considering the current level differences compared to the old days. Then Abyssea NMs take all of 3 or 15 minutes to be able to spawn again, whereas with older NMs one can wait up to 6 hours with no results. This is a little crippling on players' schedules, granted most old NMs are obsolete...until you consider Trial of the Magians.

"They respawn fast because Abyssea has a time limit" doesn't really hold water with me...unless you're just starting out, chances are you have a gajillion traverser stones on hand, maintaining your time is as simple as warping out and retrieving more stones, then having Horst or whomever return you to the scene instantly. The time limit is a non-issue for most people. It isn't like Dynamis or Limbus where you actually have a risk of getting booted then can't return until the next day. (3 days for Limbus, which will also hopefully be changed in the near future.)

Please consider changing non-Abyssea NM's spawn rates, SE. :(

It would make me feel neato in the torpedo if some of the more unreasonable older monsters had their spawn times reduced.

The very long spawn times never really made sense, and now that they can be compared to stuff with very short times that is painfully obvious.
