Mythic Weapons - Yes another topic, no not complaining.

I've always been curious:

When they were originally marketed they were deemed easier to get than Relics and something the casual gamer could get in a short amount of time....


...What caused the direction of this to be changed? Currently as we know unless you've already been heavily involved end-game there's almost no way for a casual gamer to to get even a quarter of the requirements for this done yet they can get a relic done in a few months given luck/income even prior to neo-dynamis. Have they ever gone into detail as to why they chose to make em a lot harder to get (for most users) instead of easier to get? I've always wondered about this because I think the only easy requirement for these weapons most newer/casual gamers can even hope to achieve is the Captain requirement.

So yeah as we know (least from what people have been saying) that there's no plans to really touch these anytime soon, but the latest census was depressing that after all this time they're still largely unfinished.

Will they ever become the "easy to get compared to x,y,z" they were marketed as? Though I'm sure the usual "lol they are easy" people who don't even have one will likely spring up but honestly, after the Empyrean sans Chloris path (why isn't the amount of NMs needed reduced yet?) debacle and how you can literally get em in a day, mythics should have been adjusted a looooooooong time ago both acquisition and power wise.

But if you think about it, it's easier than farming upwards of 180mil in currency for one weapon in one point of view.

It's just a long series of quests that involves killing a lot of mobs. And I think once you do that, you can get pretty much all of them in a much easier fashion. The only real issue is getting the therion ichor, the tokens and the alexandrite -- but even then, I'm pretty sure you can get that faster with people than you could with relics.

They did everything right with how to acquire a mythic weapon, right up to the point they added the 30,000 alexandrite requirement.

Even at 75 "casual" players shouldn't have had too much of an issue doing the rest.

Mythics will remain a shining example of what happens when SE takes a good idea (casual ultimate weapons) and destroys it through hoop jumping created for no other reason other than to keep people from blowing through the content.

SE simply added too many requirements on top of a currency stumbling block.

Yeah, it's those hoops, but given a recent response by a rep it's likely to justify the 'power' or something. They're not "hard", but compared to Relics which only hard part is getting the synthesis materials because some weapons are no longer made, like Wyvern Spear for example, yeah it's pretty much not "easier to get" when with Relics all you need is currency which can be done so much quicker these days especially with curor > gil, while Mythics still remain pretty much the most restricted set of weapons.

It may be disguised as a series of quests, but honestly..it's tied to too many systems that are too heavily restricted if you try to push for it, e. g Tag limitation, Salvage needing to pull points even if its a little they will run out quickly unless you were an assault fanatic and so on.

Not exactly. You still have to consider 30,000 Alexandrites, in which the price is skyrocketing even as we speak. Alexandrites would not be a problem, even to buy enmasse, since it used to cost 3K each in phoenix, now it's averaging around 7K~8K, and that's people being generously cheap. I'm starting to see Alexandrites in bazaar for 10K and even 15K. Like I said, no matter how hard you try to claim otherwise. It's unreasonable. Period. SE needs to looking into other ways to add TONS of Alexandrites back into the market, in order to even begin justifying the mythic.

The fact that salvage gears were considered the best of the best gears around is one reason why buying Alexandrites would be no problem. The salvage pieces were extremely rare to get to the point that people had to constantly spam salvage to get what they want, Especially Usukane Body, level 35 piece.

Getting Alexandrites will not be fast. Period. There isn't even enough Alexandrites in the market to even support one mythic, without taking an unreasonable long time to do so, due to little interest in salvage now. Not to mention that the majortiy of the players do not even care about the mythic due to A) how little they compare to Empyrean and even Relics, and B) the extreme difficult to get it.

"It's just a series of quests that involves killing a lot of mobs" exactly describes what Empyrean weapons are. You are killing a lot of mobs for the drop items to complete an empyrean weapon. Mythic involves a lot more than that. It involves redoing all 50 assaults again. It involves spamming nyzul til you get 150K tokens (and believe me it will take a LOT of nyzul runs). It involves constantly doing Einherjar til you get 100K Theron Ichrons, which is actually pretty easy, if you are part of a dedicated Einherjar group. It involves, obviously, getting 30,000 Alexandrites, and finally, it involves getting final 3 ZNM trophies which aren't even 100% drops, and these ZNMs aren't even easy to get to.

People can try to claim how easy it is to get an empyrean, but the Vana'diel census regarding the mythic speaks volume. No matter how much you try to say how easy it is, if it was actually easy (and worthwhile) far more people would have mythics now, but here's the truth: it's not easy. The requirements are unreasonable, period. Especially with the alexandrites, and especially with the VNM trophies. Not to mention, many of the weapons, save a few are completely lackluster.

Mythic weapons was considered easy because people actually cared about the content where the mythic weapons were involved. EG: Einherjar, Nyzul, Assault, Salvage, and ZNM. Even then, doing Mythic weapons were difficult which require a lot of dedication. Right now, its harder because the majority of players won't care about the said events.

I am hoping that the upcoming changes to ToAU events will receive a massave overhaul as promised, enough to justify doing mythics, because face it, if you compare the effort it takes to get the empyrean, and even relics, there's almost no point in doing mythics, because, hey, you got something! HEll, I wouldn't be arguing that SE should be allowing the five newest jobs to use the relics if the mythics weren't that problematic to get. Then again, regardless, I still say they should, but that's another thread for that.

Even though I'm going for Verethragna, I'd LOVE to have a pair of Kenkonken. I hear the Overload suppression is pretty potent.

I wouldnt actually call myself Casual as in Casual....

I have all the HNM Titles needed... what i didnt get ever was Captain... and ppl don't do Assaults.

While i could raise founds to buy Alexandrites:

Not a lot ppl do Salvage.

And on Top of that i would rather see a way as in a Point-System for this instead of buying an ungodly amount of Overpriced Alexandrtes.
Im not fond of doing Salvage. But i would do it if there was like a reasonable amount of Currencys dropping.

Nyzul? Outdatet Content dropwise. GL on finding ppl.

Then Einherjar? Didn't do it in Ages doubt ppl will pay for it cause the drops are outdated.

Then ZNM T4? with a not 100% droprate... pretty Pointless ?

Overall SE needs to adjust a LOT to make these attainable again,

While i would Love to get Dnc, Pup and Smn Mythics (in that Order),
im aware of the huge inconvenience in obtaing them.

A 75 player with an event shell that was active when ToAU was in its prime (for like 5 years) could pretty reasonably expect to get all the requirements for a mythic (except Alexandrite) done with a minimum of effort.

At 90, most of the requirements are outdated and not done as much anymore. However, the extra 15 levels make things a lot easier than they were at 75.
* Einherjar Tier 1 and 2 can be pretty consistently completed by a single party for about 2k Ichor.
* Nyzul Isle can be farmed by three players that are likely to get about 6-15 floors (~2.5k Tokens per tag average assuming you're helping someone climb from 1 to 100).
* Beastkings still come with adds, but I was in a pickup alliance last night that took all three out in ~4 hours. A single well-organized party could probably take them out.
* Most assaults have always been trio-able, and even more are trioable at 90. It comes down to having two friends. I got captain at 75, and I look forward to doing all the assaults again at 90. I've always enjoyed assaults.
* Alexandrite is an eternal sticking point, and SE has pretty much sworn this won't be changing.

I agree, with what you brought up, it's not really a problem. However, ZNM and Alexandrites are a huge problem. ZNM trophies should now be 100% drop at least (It's already a hell of a lot of effort just to GET to the tier 4 ZNMs), and Alexandrites need to have a much higher drop rate. There's no reason why they can't drop in Nyzul either.
