There's an incentive to not just go and do that, in that there are rewards from deeds to increase the cap, but that implies another solution:
How about adding more of those weapon skill merit cap increasing key items to deeds of heroism?

I have to second this, and magnify this post with this information:

The supply of plutons, riftborn boulders, and beitetsu should be roughly equal; this suggests that the problem is on the demand side: nobody wants plutons badly enough to pay a million gil for a stack of them.
And why would they? The main purpose of plutons is to upgrade relic weapons, which in turn serve mainly as a way to easily identify players that shouldn't be accepted into pickup groups.
Beitetsu doesn't need fixing. Relic weapons do.
Those items never shouldve existed in the first place. There should've only been one item for all upgrades.
Imagine how stupid it would be if there were white green red and blue detritus too. Whenever a should be same item is broken into individual groups there will always be disparity.
Remove mages ballad 1 and 2 from Ulmia trust, most people want a bard for march or attach boosts. It's fine for Joachim using them since that offers some choice between which bard to use, but we should have one that doesn't start randomly putting on mages ballad when it's not needed. This is why so many people prefer Cornelia.
For assaults:
When picking assault, it asks what level cap you want to apply. It says 50,60,70 and no.
Most people who are new players or returnees will pick 70 and not know uncapped exists, because "no" isn't clear enough to what it means. Make "no" instead say "uncapped".
Please add an option similar to "Target Nearby NPC" but ignores trusts, to the gamepad option list.
This is such a great feature, but allowing for an option that works exactly like that but ignores trusts would be even better.
Please add an option similar to "Target Nearby NPC" but subsequent presses allows you to tab between enemies.
(This option would be the same as the above option, and also ignores trusts, but allows the player to "Tab" between targets.)
Thank you.
This seems like something that should already be a thing. The "Switch Target" menu command already allows sub-targeting like this, and /targetbnpc allows one to target only enemies and not trusts or non-combat NPCs, but... somehow there's no command or targeting token that brings the two together?
Please make Aminon (hard mode) drop an old case +2 instead of an old case + 1.
Please make A.M.A.N. troves less frustrating by giving an instant capacity or exemplar point reward whenever a chest is opened that is not a mimic.
Characters that have their current jobs mastered should receive exemplar points instead of capacity points. 5k exemplar points per chest would be reasonable.
Please add an exemplar point reward of 10k each to all monthly one-time objectives, including Peculiar Foes, Content / A.M.A.N. troves and deeds-earning objectives.
High Tier Battlefields.
These are things people do over and over again:
Change the top option when talking to an NPC from "let time pass by idly" to "exchange merit points", it's just forcing people to press another key for no reason at all.
Add a favorites option at the top, so people can instantly get to the key item they are doing over and over again and have it right at the top of the list.
Please allow us to re-do our Synergy training at the Synergy Engineer. We are only allowed 10 training levels out of 20 total possible categories...and they cannot be changed once we choose them! Some of us have had poor choices for OVER A DECADE. Please address this!
Also, make more items from Mog Pells deliverable on the same account, like Nomad Shield and Town Moogle Shield. (Currently, Nomad Cap/Moogle Cap is deliverable on the same account, but the shield is not!)
Feel like there should be a Nomad Moogle at the entrance of many battles; like Salvage or BCNM. Not a huge deal, but I keep forgetting to change my damn sub until I arrive at the doors........
(Feels bad....)
Lower the recast on warp ring to 5 mins, there is really no valid reason I can think of to it being 10 mins.
I noticed that Race Change hasn't been mentioned recently. Is that feature still being worked on? Thanks.
Please revert the changes (November 11th update) to the gamepad setting:
"Target nearby NPC"
The new change to focus enemies is even worse.
The major benefit of this feature was to target objects while avoiding targeting players.
Now instead of targeting objects instead of players, I'm targeting enemies malms away instead of the object right in front of me, which defeats the purpose of this feature to begin with.
The best option is to just have us targeting objects first, even if this means we have to deal with targeting trusts.
The trade off to target objects, then enemies is better when avoiding crowded areas, than targeting enemies in crowded areas, because the latter is much less frequent.
So, in short, please revert the changes back to how they were prior to the update. thank you.
Edit: To put this into context.
The change prior to November 11th:
Issues targeting mobs when trusts are around. (Only an issue during Domain Invasion type content.)
(Great in all other situations.)
Situation after November 11th Update:
Issues in all content and situations. (Except Domain invasion type content.)
(Feature only works good in towns with no enemies.)
I want a NPC that will let me stack all items to 99 by reverse stacking like arrows. all sprits and assets are already in the game they just need to be implemented. we already have it for ancient currency why not everything else?
any currency to be turned in to coffer that stack to 99 and can only be filled with 99/stack of the items to save space and to sell more efficient
Beitetsu into coffer
alex in to cat's eye
plutons into coffer's
Riftborn boulder into coffers
but I know it won't happen because. {see here: selling space}
ect.

We were told the FFXI developers who were moved to XIV were going to "bring their learnings back to XI" when is that going to happen? how long are the XI developers going to continue to be working on the XIV raid at our expense?
And by Race change I would 1000% want to be a Yagudo, Goblin or Quadav.
The beast tribes are antagonists, no way that would ever happen, sorry to be a debbie downer.
That's certainly a reason it won't happen, but I don't imagine it's the reason.
Ever see a goblin use Leaden Salute? Animations probably don't exist for beastmen using every player weaponskill, and this feels very much like it will be an "existing assets only" sort of project. Beastmen would simply be too expensive.
(Shadows on the other hand... highly unlikely but potentially possible?)
would it be possible to be able to turn in the sortie items for like extra gal currency like mabye turn em in for half the value of there cost if you bought them from the golbin?
Generally anything that can be sold for gil sells for a small fraction of the purchase price, not half.
Half is typical in single player RPGs but it doesn't work in an MMO economy.
I'd like to be able to to do a 3 for 1 trade on sortie earrings, I've gotten plenty of +1's but not any on my 2 mastered jobs (DNC , SMN) so if I could trade 3 to 5 +1 earrings for a +1 Earring of Choice that would be fantastic.
Trading orbs to Shami to check if they've been used is a nice feature, but having him just throw them away isn't very useful. It would be nice if instead, the player was offered the opportunity to buy a replacement without going through the usual menu.
Quote:
Shami: Oh dear! I see a crack here. It's worthless now, so I'll dispose of it. I've got plenty more though, for just <price>...
> Buy <item>
> Not today
How about we remove the KI Kupofried's Medallion
It is entirely unnecessary and obnoxious. Either just charge us 500k for a lifetime pass or make it auto-renew or get rid of it. It serves no purpose other than to be an annoyance.
Please convert one of the 8 mog wardrobes into a job-specific wardrobe (JSW).
The JSW is 22 different wardrobes in one, one for each job. Each time you change jobs, the contents of the JSW for this job become accessible.
Typical contents of each JSW would be the artifact, relic and empyrean equipment for the corresponding job, plus the JSE neck, capes, Sortie earring, and the job-specific SU5/ultimate/prime weapons.
I want to see a simplification of the limit breaks, so I can spend the ten thousand silver vouchers I can't currently use.
If the first character has completed limit breaks, the other 15 shouldn't have to also.
You could create an ex item that can be obtained from Maat by any character level 99 that can be sent through the delivery system to characters on the same POL account. The ability to flag ex items as deliverable to characters on the same POL account is already in place (has been since 2011). By trading this item to Maat, another character on the same POL account would unlock level 99.
deliverable items isn't relevant to this conversation.
It isn't even that much of a hassle to do the LB quests, they would never add an item like this to the game and why should they? Not even FFXIV does that, except for the purchasable skip option.
May as well just add a copy character button.
Target nearby NPC (F8) Please fix
For years, target nearby NPC always prioritized an actual object/NPC.
Now, (since the November update) it prioritizes a monster over objects and NPC's.
99% of the time, you will want to target an object/NPC instead of a monster that is 100 yalms away.
Please adjust the "Confirm/Select" option to function as F8 did prior to the November Update.
Suggestion:
-Confirm/Select (Gamepad) Enter (Keyboard)
Function- to perform as F8 did prior to the November 2024 update.
(To prioritize objects over enemies.)
Reason:
-Players wishing to target objects can use Confirm/Select/Enter to target objects instead of enemies.
-Players wishing to target enemies instead of objects can use F8.
Everyone is happy.
Currently there is no option to target objects easily. (There was prior to the November 2024 update.)
Please and thank you.
Please remove the exemplar point loss on death from Odyssey and Sortie. It's way way way way too harsh for that kind of content especially considering how massive the exemplar point bars are at higher master levels and how incredibly stingy exemplar points rates are.
