I think what's sickening is that you think the whole situation in Japan is heartwarming.
I think that the format of their announcements is pretty standard for any outage of service in any kind of industry.
I don't think they're really overly apologising. It's just a normal form letter.
All i am going to say is this, thank you SE for all the effort you are doing to deal with the situation.
I would not mind having the servers down longer if the power plants need that brake
DON'T BE!!!
It was from the heart, and well written.
To SE: Appology accepted, 10,000 times over! In addition, my heartfelt sympathies for the pain you are going thru.
I will repeat what so many of the FF community has said: We Appreciate and Respect you for your hard work and dedication.
With Aloha..:)
Dear OP;
Apologies are a matter of proceedure. Whenever you unintentionally inconvenience your customers, regardless of the reason, you generally issue an apology. I know what you're trying to say, that they should be more concerned about other things, but they, like everyone else, would just like to return some sense of normalcy to their lives as soon as is reasonably possible.
for every person like the OP who feels that way, there is another person who are like "i pay for the service, i EXPECT it to be on, bow down to me!" then there is everyone else like me who are like, sh** is situational, it'l be on when they are ready. because i mean really we all stand up and say what they SHOULD do, but who knows SE's servers better than SE? if it were possible we would be crowded around a ??? right now trying to pop a NM
I think the issue had more to do with expecting people to apologize for something they didn't do.
That being said, it's not unreasonable to expect a service someone has paid for to be delivered, but to SE's credit they are making April free, so that concern has been...guess i'll use the word - alleviated.
Also - you can express sympathy for something that happened without actually apologizing - which would imply you did something wrong to be sorry for. We had absolutely nothing to do with that earthquake, and writing a post berating us because we aren't saying we are sorry for something we had no control over is misplaced moral grandstanding at best.
Again - it's probably just semantics, but really the post was sort of silly i think :)
I'm sure they are genuinely sorry for having to take the servers down.
This thread is stupid. If you don't like their apologies then don't read them.
Oh geez...i was with ya till this.
So...your the victim now? Puh-lease.
Someone saying that the game means alot to the SE staff and that they are being polite in their apologies constitutes a slap in the face to you? How exactly?
Could have send an email or letter to the staff without the "look-at-me i care" topic on forum...I'm sure they would have appreciatted it equally.
